What timing!!! Tomorrow morning is my surgery and I'm packing.... I've got pajama bottoms, sweats to wear home, clean undies, chapstick, charger, tablet, phone, gas x chewables..... What am I missing? -

I actually asked my surgeon that very same question. He told me not to put a number on it. My ultimate goal should be to become 100% healthy. He said that numbers alone aren't enough. My surgeon also had a VSG several months ago--and looks super good, I'll tell you!!-- revealed that although he feels amazing, he's not off of all his meds yet and would like to lose about10-15 more pounds. With that said, I put mine smack in the middle of 'normal weight' for my height, cuz that would be awesome! 😜 But honestly, I'll take healthy and strong over a number any day.

It really depends on your insurance. I started with a bmi of 39 in July, currently I'm at 37 and have 2 comorbidities. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. I was told that my insurance won't cover it if I went under 35. Figuring all those details was much easier talking to the doctor' office. They knew my insurance requirements and specifics without even looking them up! I did start online, to find an approved provider, went to his seminar, and went from there. If you are cash.... well, that's another story!

How funny! I got the call Friday as well lol!! I'm usually a note person myself, but fortunately I've got most of everything I will need for at least the first two weeks, just need to pick up the chewable vitamins tomorrow from my nut after my preop. So, I've been spending a weird amount of time staring at my calendar wondering how I'm going to get everything done. Oh how I pray to be one of the lucky ones who have no complications and are back at it in a week! Honestly, I think I'm still in denial that this is finally happening. Hopefully after my appt tomorrow, I'll believe it. -

Thanks for that! It's actually what i really needed to hear right now. My surgery isn't scheduled until January, so I'm trying to lose what I can now. I've got to overcome this head hunger thing.... I can do this! I'm a warrior, too!

Why is it a secret?

I am so sorry that you are going through this. These are my fears that have kept my mouth closed. I know a lot of people and am well aware of human nature to judge and gossip. The last thing I want is other people's pity. I am like you also and am truly so happy and grateful that I am given this opportunity--so excited to begin this journey. So here you are. When you feel those ignorant fools, pull your strength from deep inside and stay strong. Thank God for your family, your base, and know that we are on your side and want the very best for you. We know your pain and dreams. I do. You're going to be great! -

Just found out I have sleep apnea and can't adjust to CPAP Machine
Tess530 replied to comtngirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's what I did, too! One from my primary and another from my cardiologist with a current EKG and stress test, just to be sure. Can you imagine?!? All that worked up nervous excitement just to be turned away last minute? No, thank you. -

Also, as a side note: When talking to my cardiologist, he recommended that he also do a stress test (Not required from insurance) as he's seen anesthesiologists turn away patients right before surgery if the patient has any heart issues. I have HBP.
