  1. I’m hoping that I am posting in the correct board. I am now a little over two years post op from gastric bypass and had surgery on my rotator cuff twice this year, bed bounding me pretty badly the first time and then just making it difficult to exercise and move with the revision. I’ve been having immense pain in my face and other parts of my upper body after this second surgery, not helping my cause. This has made cooking a burden, especially foods I should be eating, and I have a tendency to graze at night. That wouldn’t be so bad if I could have something like grapes, but they make me dump so quickly. Does anybody have advice on how to get back on track (after the shoulder injury and getting back on anti-anxiety meds I gained about 40 from my lowest post bypass)? What tracking programs do folks here use? My parents encouraged WW, but I’m unsure if it’s the right way to go? And seeing gastric surgeon’s office isn’t an option. 1. I moved about 200-300 miles away and 2. I lost my trust in them when my gallbladder nearly sent me into sepsis, but they refused to acknowledge there was an issue. I had to go to a well respected (serious, terrific guy!) general surgeon to get it evaluated and removed. I tried to get seen by another office at one point, but they did not want to help me as I did not have my surgery with them. Any help is deeply appreciated!
  2. Yeah, the endoscopy showed no stricture. It baffled him, which I think is the reason he told me to keep a food diary. But the best I can do right now is find what makes me LEAST nauseous. I'm getting in nowhere near enough fluids or protein.
  3. Hi folks, I want to know if anybody has a solution or timeline of where this will go away... I have spent the past week in pain and extreme nausea. Anytime I eat or drink I get nauseous. It does not matter what I do or how little I drink or eat. And it's a persistent bugger. And I have pain that my surgeon is just saying is incision pain because it's near the incision (upper right quadrant). I went to ER and the CT and Ultrasound were clear and the endoscopy was clear. I had zero issues with food in the first few weeks and now I literally cannot have it without wanting or actually vomiting (zofran has curbed some vomit spells). Is there any end in sight? All my doctor said was to keep a food journal and I'd see correlations, but it is literally everything. I'm back at work and I cannot do this!

    Exhausted All. The. Time

My surgeon said it is completely normal to be exhausted the first several months. Our bodies are trying to get used to this drastic change and it takes time. Might I suggest melatonin for sleep? It wasn't working well for me prior to surgery, but I've tried a fast dissolve tablet at 3mg and it's done wonders for my sleep!

    Eggface's ricotta bake

If blended, is this possible on pureed food or does the cooking toughen it too much? At what week would this be edible? It looks delish!

    Pureed or blenderized food ideas

This is the southerner in me, but grits are on our my surgeon's list for pureed food. I just got quaker instant grits, heated it with water, added a half scoop of unflavored GNC protein powder and 42g of fat free cheddar cheese. I then divided it into 2 oz servings and stored the leftovers. Cheesy grits were amazing after a week of liquids!
  7. It's hard the first week (and I'm sure beyond)- I feel you! People lose at different rates, no one person will be the same. Take the victory- you've lost! I know it is difficult- I have had doubts the past week, but I keep pushing along because that's what is going to get the weight off me! Also, make sure you are taking in enough protein and walking! I don't know what your surgeon wants, but mine has instructed us to sip on 8oz of high protein (like premier or isopure) between meals and then switch to water. That way, we are getting in the proper amount of protein a day. I hope that helps! You can do it!

    September 2017 Gastric Bypass surgeries

I could use an online friend(s) too (I'm in NC)- my surgery is September 26th. I'm getting both excited and nervous! If anybody has vitamin advice, I could also use them! I know Walmart sells liquid vitamins, but I'm not sure how good they are for surgery. I think it has alcohol in it to make them liquid. I know that Centrum makes Vita-Mints that are melting- I just need to compare stats to make sure it has everything needed!

    Anyone jealous?

I've had a difficult time with this myself. I faced some backlash with coworkers several months when I was contemplating it, so it made it very difficult to talk to my supervisors. I initially did not tell them what was going on, just that I was having surgery. I then found three friends who I knew would be supportive and told them. I finally was able to confide in one of my supervisors what I am going to have done. Honestly, people are going to think what they are going to think. Just don't let it stop you from doing what is best for you! It is your life and those not happy for you need to check themselves. If they are jealous because they are also overweight, perhaps your surgery will inspire them! One of my friends inspired me and I am having surgery in three weeks. We can do it!
