To walk comfortably: FOUR DAYS To HEAL (i.e. all op incisions sealed safely): ELEVEN DAYS To walk normally: EIGHT DAYS To swim: about THREE WEEKS

Mmmm. I'd say the app is 'fair' or close to 'adequate'. The really best outcomes seem to come from using MY FITNESS PAL (web or app) in conjunction with BARIATRIC PAL (web).

Pre Op Diet Nightmare
Rainbow_Warrior replied to GeorgieDean's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bear in mind that once you are through those first two to four days, it becomes relatively easy. Your body is reacting to change and, as you say, there's an element of WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. Good luck. -
Do what you and your doctor think is best. Do NOT seek to satisfy the narrow demands of your wider family or friends.
-
My thoughts too.

Yes! Go ask your GP's opinion of whether you have trouble or not. Have you been lifting small children without warming up first?

Love how I do not crave fried food anymore
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Abstractpain's topic in Rants & Raves
Tried two doughnuts/donuts in my 62 years, one when I was about 11 yo and the other when I was in my late 20s. They were terrible oily crap foods then and I'm glad that I never liked them. -

Rainbow_Warrior replied to Abstractpain's topic in Rants & Raves
Yes ... no deep fried foods (except for 4-6 hot french fries at a few meals) since surgery. I do have an occasional fried egg but I use a light film of extra virgin olive-oil not a 'pool' of oil or butter. I have minimal desire for anything fried these days. -
OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE
Rainbow_Warrior replied to RomAnca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your pics show that you are achieving good loss. Your chubby 2017 face has shrunk markedly. I'm impressed. (And your latest pic is already 4 weeks old ... I imagine that you are getting to feel the wow factor as you approach 'normal' weight.) -
I have Spring/Summer Brand Name Size 18-20 2x Clothes for Sale
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Shawn37's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
She's medium-large at the moment. A bit of a summer stall through Nov-Dec-Jan. Definitely overweight and not happy with her 'pause' but well-down from the obese lady of 21 months ago. She has her professional admissions board examination today and has been doing a bit of nervous eating since xmas while preparing for this final career hurdle. I guess, from past history, she will buckle down her food routine before mid-February. -
This is all new and I’m a little freaked out!
Rainbow_Warrior replied to jbmac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree almost 100% with James' comment. He's almost in complete unison with my Australian surgeon/clinic and dietitian. Yep! 1. Give up fizzy soda drinks for good. 2. Give up C.R.A.P. ... i.e. get yourself off Calorie-Rich And Processed foods. i.e. eat FRESH foods not packaged foods or "fast foods". -

Week 3 Post op...no hunger, hardly eating
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Belladonna1670's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you need clear SOUP ... THEN onto chunkier soups as soon as you can. Do try to eat four HALF-CUPFULS of food dense in protein if you can. Don't avoid eating. -
Calling all October sleevers!!
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Detroit_25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Monday update yesterday ... Currently 15 weeks & 5 days post op ... a.k.a. 110 days. I do my updates of my progress every Monday at about 10am or 11am. For those of you who use POUNDS, I have averaged 2.75 pounds per week loss since my SLEEVE OPERATION. Since I met my surgeon in mid-July, I have averaged 2.83 pounds per week overall. My BMI is sliding slowly downward. -

Or, if it's really extreme abuse or intolerable profanity, report it to Alec or the BariatricPal IT team. -
What Iron dosage do you take?
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Hector1982's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Although my iron levels are moderate, not high, not low, I take an iron tablet every second day and a Centrum for men over 50 daily. -
How well were you prepared for your diet by your medical team?
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ditto that ... mine was a sleeve folder into which updates could be added. -

I don't know which threads you read but I participate in more than a dozen key topics and about 15-20 topics that come and go. In my six months here, I have come upon only THREE nasty contributors who have all been dealt with quickly and appropriately by the site's owner or his IT team. 97% of posts are positive or mostly 'on-track'. I just wish more people were articulate and careful with the writing, spelling and punctuation they use. Manners (specifically, bad manners) are minimal IN MY EXPERIENCE. Maybe @Jelly Belly , you just need to filter the types of threads you're in if you are seeing negativity and nastiness. If anything is untoward and hurts your feelings, tell the correspondent. If she/he does not change, report it. -
How well were you prepared for your diet by your medical team?
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. Yes. Before and since the op. I have a monthly appt with the practice dietitian. 2. Yes. And the hospital kitchen staff were very aware of my surgery and my limits. 3. Yes. I have a folder from the dietitian with (a) an over-arching plan presented to me in July 2017 and (b) monthly updates in print form given my exercise and some useful food favourites and combinations. 4. Yes. Not so much ounces but volume and density of food AND the order of eating. 5. Yes. Got all the warnings generally and specifically ... at the pre-op 'lecture' and in written notes from the clinic and dietitian. 6. Yes. Small soup. Black tea. Jelly (jello). Skim milk to drink. NEXT MORNING: protein drink, skim milk, high protein yoghurt. 7. Yes. Very much so. -
3 months post op...... My mind and soul are turning to mush
Rainbow_Warrior replied to willowwaters's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Normal progress, give or take a couple of pounds. I am 15 weeks, 4 days post-op and I have lost only 19.8kg (43.65 pounds) and that is on he back of swimming at least a mile and a half almost every day since mid-November. Just do the basic eating and drinking right and try to side-step a little of the pain and anxiety of the other changes in your life. It's too late to focus on buyer's remorse or bad timing. Make the best of what you've got. Re-focus yourself to make yourself the priority. Be open with your house-guests and family and press them for more support. -
Not loosing weight after sleeve surgery!!!!
Rainbow_Warrior replied to Gigig's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So, you have had 54 or 55 weeks with no change and your clinic or surgeon is not helping you? Right? Have you been keeping a paper food diary at home or say, a MyFitnessPal food & exercise diary online? A careful tracking may help your surgeon or team assist you. -
Strawberries allowed? 8 weeks post-op
Rainbow_Warrior replied to sunbunny83's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Why not? If you are keeping your protein consumption and overall carbs consumption in perspective, you should be abe to include some fresh or frozen strawberries in your diet. -

Be that as it may, your husband has not chosen wisely for: (a) your food consumption reality AND (b) his wallet. Speak to him early, ASAP, and ask him to reconsider ... but clearly explain why. -
