    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

I had my eleven-month checkup on September 10th ... recorded 114.3 kg (252 pounds or 18 stones). I started with pre-op protein shakes on July 17th, 2017 at 174.6 kg (384.93 pounds or 27.49 stones). That's a drop of 60.3 kilograms all up (132.94 pounds or 9.5 stones). When operated upon, Thursday 12th October last year, I was 160.4 kg (353.62 pounds or 25.26 stones). So the TOTAL POST-OP LOSS IS A LESSER AMOUNT of 46.1 kilograms in 48 weeks (101.63 pounds or 7.26 stones) ... a very acceptable loss average of a nudge over two pounds per week. I am very pleased with this ... and despite recriminations or guilt about the things I could have done better or more consistently, I'm in a FAR, FAR BETTER PLACE than the hard-breathing, morbidly obese lump I was back then.
  2. MMM ... I just threw out 19 bags of clothing between 4XL and 9XL. Very pleasing feeling. This comes on top of the 22 pairs of dress trousers and casual slacks I sent to charity earlier on in 2018. I also parted with some very over-sized tailored shirts from 2009-2016 purchases.

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

I referred last year to my need to feel more comfortable driving my car. Back then, my gut/stomach was just 5mm to 7mm (under half an inch) away from the steering wheel. Well, thanks to a smaller arse/backside, I have moved my seat about 40mm (1.5") closer to the steering wheel ... but the gap is out to 155mm (6.5") or more. I'm really enjoying being sleeved!

October 2017 sleevers...how are you doing?

I was done on Oct 12 last year. Currently 51.2 kilograms (about 113 pounds) lighter than July 17th last year when I met the surgeon and started pre-op progress. My BMI dropped under 40 last week (after starting above 50 last year). In the nine and a half months since the surgery itself , I am down just over 35 kg (or 77 pounds). I swim 100 to 160 minutes per day (thanks to being retired from my main job). That adds to the weight control and steady diet.
  5. It's not our place to be judgmental. Did you like speculation and comments of others about your obesity when you were larger? Give the public figures and celebs a break.
  6. No. I'm in the fortunate position to have kept several sizes of clothes I passed through on the way up. So now, I use each smaller size on the way down. I have lashed out and bought new underwear every couple of months. And for exercise, I swim ... so I have bought a new smaller swimsuit each 6-7 weeks since surgery. (I went 27 years without pools/beaches for swimming so I needed to actually buy swim shorts and rashies.

Purée days - how do you get enough protein?

Meaty soups. Meaty soups with egg whites pureed through them. Protein additions are not rocket science.

1st meeting with surgeon (dr. Krause)

It all depends on the individual and the surgeon. Be a good listener. Ask your surgeon all your worrying questions.

First two weeks post op weight loss

2 kg the first two weeks (or 4 pounds 5 ounces). Stop worrying. Once your stitches/holes have healed and you eat to your plan and start daily exercise, a good trend usually begins. I'm 8.5 months post-op and not concerned that I have occasional "flat" weeks. The trend s good.

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

So true. I started with minimal (safe) exercise after surgery (on Oct 12th 2017). By the end of November, my daily swim had progressed from ten laps of a 25m heated indoor pool to swimming 125 minutes and chest-deep wading about 45 to 75 minutes (dependent on time available, work, etc.) I also do gym for 90 minutes three days per week (after starting out with just three or four stations for a total of 15 minutes). Little things: I park the car on the far side of the supermarket car-park so that I get an extra slab of incidental walking. I park at least one block from the cafe/diner (unless it's raining). I try to eat under 1000 calories on at least four days per week (but I don't stress if the exercise makes me hungrier). I still try to eat 45% to 65% of my calories in protein rich foods.

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Power to you. I am 48 weeks since meeting my surgeon at 174.6 kg. In the weeks before surgery, I dropped about 15 kg (33 pounds). My surgery was 12th Oct 2017. Thanks to my gastric sleeve, my 1200-1400 calories per day, my 77 hours per month swimming and my 30 hours per month in the gym, I am easily going to realise 52 kg (114.5 pounds) off in 52 weeks since meeting the surgeon to discuss a gastric sleeve. - - - I hope you are reaping the benefits of improved lifestyle and comfortable clothes!

I’m now OBESE CLASS 2 at 261 pounds!

I went for my exercise assessment today (friday 22nd June) at noon and weighed in at 122.9kg (270.9 pounds). It's been a good couple of weeks for my shrinkage!

Top 10 bucket list after weight loss

Having dropped from 7XL or 8XL shirts/tops to XL or 2XL in the last 11 months, I certainly appreciate that I now pay $7.95 for a rash vest or t-shirt rather than $29.95. I know being ultra-large used a lot more lycra or cotton but I am pleased about the 65% price saving on many common items.

    Don't pray for me

But, Geena, when you tell CONSCIOUS people that you do not believe in imaginary friends in the sky and that you have no truck with prayers or chats with deities, they should not come back on another occasion and over-ride your wishes and beliefs NOR attempt to proselytise. Several of us have made this point previously and it seems to go over the heads of others in the thread.

    TMI - Pooping at work

So true for me too! No such thing as a silent release any more!

    Don't pray for me

Religion has been making things worse for many tens of centuries ... wars, prejudice, hatred. (If only they could live like respectful, non-religious people, eh?)

I’m now OBESE CLASS 2 at 261 pounds!

I was not sure what that meant so I used a search engine. It seems that 40 and over is "OBESE CLASS 3". Well, guess what, my BMI fell under 40 just last Saturday, six days after my 62nd birthday. Once I dropped under 124.7 kg (275 pounds), I had made it. At 124.6 kg, I was 50 kg (110.2 pounds) under my weight/mass on the day I met my surgeon 48 weeks ago on Monday July 17th, 2017. I'm batting for better than 1.000 by reaching more than 52kg lost by July 16 (52kg in 52 weeks). Cheers to you and your achievement. Your post prompted me to look it up and find out that we both transferred an obesity category at about the same time. (I remember when my BMI was 61+ and when I did not expect to make my 60th birthday!)

    Is this okay?

And, she knows this because of ... ? What evidence did she provide? Is this type of meal banned in your clinic's list of DOs and DON'Ts?

    Ta dah! Yes.

    TMI - Pooping at work

In Australia, we have a wonderful product but it's very, very expensive ... called V.I.Poo (Very Important Poo). My wife stands by it. I on the other hand, prefer the lingering cover smell (and the very reasonable price) of NILODOR.

    Don't pray for me

The crux of what the OP said in the first place is NOT lost on me. There is an element of rudeness (or, in a worst case, bullying) when one describes ones feelings and beliefs to friends, colleagues and relatives ... and still one is not respected for the individual opinions or choices. The OP was not against mistaken comments ... but more annoyed, I thought, by people who were in full knowledge who chose on later meetings to try to ignore his/her opinions or feelings. It is rude by some to impose their beliefs and lifestyle on others who live/believe differently.

    Don't pray for me

Gross underestimation. (Even for the bible-belt of the USA!)

    Don't pray for me

Weird ... when I was growing up, I was told that prayed is a private/intimate chat with god. Mmmm.
  24. My go to is eggs. I either have a two-egg omelette or a two-egg scramble with veges or chopped ham/silverside. Sometimes I have one 45-gram egg and 60 to 125 grams of egg-white in an omelette or scramble. Black beans is an occasional lunch food or a rare dinner food. I sometimes (once per week) have 'no sauce' baked beans or navy beans on fennel bread or sunflower bread. A protein shake is an option for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon 'snack' before or during my exercise periods. I make my protein shakes on cold water (450-500mL) OR with 250mL of cold water and 125-250mL of egg-whites. - - - My main protein meal daily is either a 155g beef steak, a half chicken breast, a 120g italian sausage or a 150-170g fillet of fish ... served with stir-fry veges or a garden salad.

    OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE

Yes ... 1. My bariatric surgeon will perform this as well. He will write up the claimable item numbers (codes) for the insurance company. 2. The hospital stay and the hospital staff assisting the surgeon are covered. 3. My out-of-pocket "gap fees" are to be just under $1400.
