  1. Thanks Rain. I have also been interested in a detox but don't know which one is safe for a diabetic. just google low glycemic eating plan. Im doing the plan for Lifestyles transitions but its just based on Low glycemic eating. I can tell you that I was a SERIOUS candy eater. Like a 1lb a week of gummys and I dont even crave them anymore. I used to eat a gallon and 1/2 of icecream a week but not anymore. It feels like a plan that you could live with. Lots of veggies some fruit and Protein. Pretty much anything in its natural form not packaged. Of course I still eat a cookie here and there but Im not like attacking people for a donut like I used to. I have been losing 2 lbs a week and lost 5 on the 3 day detox. This week on wednesday the 27th I get my offical body fat loss and can let you know if you are interested in the figures.
  2. Rain, what is the eating plan - just what you said? I don't eat much or any of that (flour, sugar or artifical sweetners) My cravings are horrible, especially at night. If I could stop the night time eating I would be in good shape!
  3. For some reason I started receiving posts yesterday after almost a year and half. I guess it was so I could reply. I have the band. I am a little jealous of seeing people who have the sleeve and the weight they lost and the stories of no problems. I think my band is a little too tight but I am keeping it that way so I dont over eat on the Snacks I still have a problem wanting. I always know the band is there. I don't like that. I spit up salivia if I eat too much. I hate it. Barb says its normal. I have spit cups all over the house. But I will not have the sleeve. Twenty years ago I had surgery and the staples became infected. I don't want to take that chance. Plus I am scared I will overeat and stretch the stomach that is there. Everything is a choice. And everyone is different. You have to make your own decision. Someone mention insurance not covering the sleeve if you have a band unless its medically necessary. It is my understanding that the weight loss center will do their best to prove it is "medically necessary" in the majority of requests.
  4. Hi guys, I wont join your little bet cause I am so screwed up that when I say I want to lose I eat more.:tt1: Dr. H told me to eat 4 or 5 small meals a day! Jennifur - I couldn't eat that much for breakfast. Two turkey breakfast sausage and I am full. I will be at tonights meeting.
  5. Vicki I was there at 8:30am. I saw Val go by when I was in the room.
  6. Jennifur, there was a food therapist at our last support meeting.
  7. Hi everyone, I was catching up on reading posts and you guys are crazy funny! I watched myself on tv last night - the show was taped right before surgery. It was good to see the change, and I could see it, although my hair is long now so that was also different. I weigh myself when I feel good or know I have been really bad so I can keep it under control. I saw Hoffman last Tuesday. I gained weight but he didn't make me feel bad. He really emphasized how much he wanted me to eat Breakfast and even said I could have sips of coffee with it if that would get me to eat. I get up have coffee and 2 gummy Vitamins, 4 benefiber chewys and my medications and I am full! I understand I have to get my metabolism moving. He also said he would like to see me loose 10 more lbs. Hey now that I said it out loud that is not to hard. I can do that.......... I think the first year is hard. You are trying to get in a routine and learning how the band reacts and works. I am looking at my 1 year anniversary next month and I think it is finally clicking. I do see a food therapist once a month and last week she used props, a heavy chain which we used as a kind of tug of war, and I think I am finally getting it. Dr. Hoffman was very happy that I wasn't blaming the band on my weight gain. I know the band works. It is the head that is still a little off balance. I don't have time to get on this site often but I do enjoy all of your insights. HOpe to see everyone at the support meeting Wednesday the 16th at 6pm in the cafeteria at Buffalo General.
  8. Hey everybody - we missed you at the meeting. They finally had someone there to talk about the issues we all face with overeating! It was excellent. Vicki, can you come to the support meetings? I was tired, depressed and just didn't want to go last night but since I said on this site I was going to bring the pb samples I felt I had to go. Boy am I glad I did! It always makes me feel better to hear I am not the only one struggling.
  9. Hi Rain, I can come a bit early. Where will you be?
  10. Lydiafree - we used to have a group walk in Delaware Park on Saturday mornings but it kept dwindling. When do you walk? Hi everyone, This Wednesday at 6pm is the support meeting. I am going to bring samples for everyone who wants it of the powdered Peanut Butter and the nutritional content. Hope to see everyone there.
  11. OMG I am so mad. I taped a TV show last October 1st. Then I had surgery. Now they are going to air the show in September! I asked if they could put a disclaimer that I look much better now!
  12. Cheddar Bunnys can be found at Wegmans in the natural food section under crackers. I got to eating them from my grandkids. They also are at Tops sometimes and of course health food stores. Don't have any in the house right now so don't know what the stats are but I ate them for a snack when I was diagnosed diabetic.
  13. Vixter-omg you are so right-it is a food addiction. In fact I talked to my couselor/nutritionist about OA. Does anyone have any experience with Overeaters Anon?
  14. Hi everyone, sorry I dont' have time to get online more often. I went and got .5cc fill but Barb said I had 4 to start with not 3.5. I feel the difference but it is not causing problems Vicki, I eat cashews and pistachios. The pistachios last longer cause you have to open them and you can have twice as many as the cashews. I also like cheddar bunnies which are an organic "goldfish".
  15. Vicki, I forgot to mention I had a bagel and slice of pizza on Sunday with no problems and that scared me. Which is the room with the leak?
  16. Hi everyone, it is nice to see all the banter back and forth, how well some are doing and the encouragement I read. Bugs, welcome! I dont' get notices on posts anymore and it has been a while since I checked. Glad you went through with the surgery! I am scared. I gained 5 pounds in the last few days from binging on easy foods (ice cream and cheesecake) so I called for a fill. I am scared if I don't get one I will continue to slide but I am scared if I do get one it will be too tight! I can't believe it has been 9 months since the surgery and I still eat too fast! The only thing I am really good at is not drinking but then I don't get enough fluids. Barb says I even drink too fast! My appointment is on Thursday at 1:30. Rain, another beautiful photo! Eileen so nice to see your post. I need to visit more often to keep encouraged and on track.
  17. Thanks Rain, I guess we hurt where it is suseptable.
  18. Hi everyone, I am hearing some discouragment on this site. Hang in there! I am sure I put on a few pounds but am not going to weigh myself. My clothes still fit so.... My question is does anyone have chest pain after they eat? I feel so tight in the chest and wheezy right now and all I had was celery with peanut butter (Val I can't wait for the new PB! I eat too much of the regular stuff). It was my breakfast - hey pb is protein right? Everytime I mention it to Barb she says to check with my PCP and I did and he did an EKG and got my acid reflux under control. When I over eat I have pain in my side right above my incision. I know we are all different I just wondered if anyone else had pain there. I see Dr. Hoffman on the 15th at 10:30.
  19. I also have Independent Health and I had to pay about $500 for my machine. In fact I am due for a new one in December and they already told me my out of pocket expense will be about $500.
  20. Bugs, Dr. H does not have the expertise or authority to say you need to be on a CPap. You should have a sleep study to determine if you need one or not. Perhaps he suspects you need one (my gyne thought I needed one) but you still need the overnight study.
  21. I am so disappointed that I will miss the meeting and if we were in town I would leave my company for a few hours and they would be happy I went but we wont be in Buffalo. I would love to hear Val and Lauries take on the conference. The more I think about it the more thoughts come into my head. One good thing is I had been wanting to know my BMI. I got a calculator at the conference and saw that I went from 39 to 31. That made me feel better and forget about my stalled weight loss.
  22. Czarbaby, one thing you will notice when reading posts is no two bandsters are the same! I have had one fill since October surgery. Val has only had two in a year, some have several.
  23. Well I am back. I took an early flight. Laurie and Val are still in Chicago. It was fun. The speakers were good and the people really nice. They served a lot of fresh fruit and for lunch had cold cuts and cheese and bread for sandwiches and salad and marinated veggies. It was a buffet. It was interesting seeing how different people eat such as some can eat bread and some cannot. It was inspiration to meet people with Lapbands who have lost over 100lbs and are still losing. There was a fashion show of members and their before photos were posted on the screen. At the end the ladies in the fashion show had lost a combined total of over 1,000 pounds! You could tell they were proud of their new bodies. I learned a lot and have a lot to process and oh - surprise surprise - I bought a few more books. LOL! I will miss the support group meeting because the grandkids are in town and we are going to Great Wolf Lodge in NF Canada for an overnight stay. I will miss you guys but the grandkids who live in NC win!
  24. Well I am off to the conference. It is for GB and Lapband patients so I am very interested in what food they will have for both the cocktail hour and lunch. Saturday night there is a host of sugar free deserts. Today there is a clothing exchange. I am taking a ton of clothes. Vicki, your friend lost the weight quickly but it is very very easy to put it back on. I cannot tell you how many bypass patients after a few years are looking into more surgery. Plus we will stay healthy! No malabsorbtion problems. We are doing it the right way - slow and (sometimes) steady.
