Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Band of Gold, how awful. I think we all can expect it to happen at least once. And interestinly it will be different foods for everybody. I fear I will be afraid to eat anything new in public for a long time. -
Judy, how far are both walks? Where are they? Linda

Wow, I was gone for a few days and so much happened and such chat going on. I am so depressed that my surgery isn't until October and everyone is talking about fills and such. I thought I would have had a call from the clinic giving me my date since it has been 12 days since my appointment but my home number is my work number so they may not have wanted to leave a message on a work machine. I had a bad/good? week eating way to much junk food at the beach. Kind of my last hurrah. Everytime I looked at buying a teeshirt my husband would insist I buy it smaller so it would fit in the future. Nice to know he has a positive outlook! BTW what does DH stand for on posts when talking about husbands (I think)? I have been going to support meetings for a few months now and have not been banded. It is interesting for both bandsters and waitsters. Have a good holiday weekend everyone. Val, I can't wait to hear how you are doing with the fill but I think you are going away for next Saturday. Have fun! I am the queen, my pantyhose says so! -

China, I went to the same seminar Judy did and my surgery is not until October. It could have been Sept 22nd but that isn't good for me and then Dr. H is going out of town for two weeks. Patience is the name of the game. It is a prelude to the rest of our journey when we must be patient with our weight loss and progress. BTW you haven't heard from me cause I am on vacation. Wont be back at the computer until I am home. I am at the libray now in Ocean City, MD -

Bloom, were you writing out a check when a redhead came in to register? That was me. I to was at the center this morning. I was given a date of September 22nd which is not good for me so I have a tenative date of October 13th. Seems so far away. Dr. Hoffman says they have had an explosion of applications in the last month (like over 500!) We are on our way! -
boy do I feel silly. I know what you mean now. I was thinking you might be talking about the New Whey liquid protein which I think some people call a bullet. I love this site and all the information I get.
-
I WILL be there on Saturday. I'll be the one eating the whole time :}
-
kcmagu, what is a magic bullet?
-
Misty D65 Wow I am impressed with how much research you did! I plan to do the same. I suspect surgery will be the end of September and I will start making soups the beginning of September. I got a lot out of the book Before and After. Thanks for the protein drink tips.

China the next meeting is August 20th at 6pm at Buffalo General. It is on the first floor to the left of the coffee shop. The door says do not enter but you can enter. I enjoyed my first one. I see Dr. Hoffman on the 19th so I should have my surgery date by then. -
fairly low BMIer... with hopes and dreams
lindatatu replied to MiniBand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
mini me. thanks for the advice. I have the lowest BMI (35 with co morbiditys) you can have and be approved by my insurance. Thanks for the heads up. I will try and not get discouraged. I am not being banded until September or October. What is frustrating the heck out of me now is how to get the darn ticker on my site! I set it up but somehow can't cut and paste the correct URL or get it to work. How did you get yours on? -
Redsmom, I to may be banded around that date. My problem is our hospital requires us to lose 5% of our body weight by going on South Beach. I was extremely successful and lost so much weight my BMI was to low for insurance approval. So I am gaining weight (just 4 pounds) before my doctors appoiintment on the 19th. Now seeing how successful I was dieting friends and one bandster are telling me I should just diet. Dont they realize that I like everyone of them have dieted successfully and gained it back again. I don't know why this time would be different! But their telling me not to have the band yet is putting doubts in my mind. It is such a life changing decision. I certainly understand your doubts. Do you have a good support person. Up until I had to gain this weight I was perfect. Eating on good food, eating slowly, no liquids with meals etc. Now I am back to old habits and very unhappy. It is a long, tough process. Good luck.

I am attending the support meeting. It will be my second one. I am not banded. As far as the psych evaluation I see a lot of people on this site went to Dr. Lelito. Don't know his number. -
I'll be there!

I am so mad and frustrated I could scream. As soon as I joined the program and sent in my application I have done research on what to do after I get banded. For months I have been trying to eat slowly and chew, chew, chew and I do not drink with meals or the suggessted 1/2 before or 1 hour after. I want to form good habits so when I am finally banded it might be easier. I went to the May 1st seminar where it was mentioned to come in and get weighed as soon as possible, even before the first appointment. I did that, bought the SB book and immersed myself in the program. As a diabetic I did not feel great and always had stomach problems. Reading the book gave me some excellent nutrition advice. I lost my cravings and only desire food offered on the program. I went on the program and immediately felt great. When I finally had my 3 hr blitz on June 24th I had lost so much weight that I was .1 above the limit for my BMI. I was warned not to lose any more weight. At my July 22nd dietician appointment I had lost more weight. Jeanne advised me to add more carbs to my diet. I actually took my home scale to the appointment and compared it to the clinic scale so I could stay on track and I have a big note on my mirror that says what I need to weigh on August 21st when I have my doctors appointment. I weighed myself yesterday and I lost 2 more pounds. This morning I was thinking of what I could eat such as pasta, potatoes etc and I got mad and thats the reason for this email. The purpose of the band is to loose weight but it is just a tool and you have to do your part, eating properly etc. I don't want to start eating more, or the wrong foods. I want my stomach to stay used to small amounts. I had some extra food yesterday and immediately my stomach hurt and my sugar was up. I still have three 1/2 weeks. I have to gain 5 lbs. Who knew gaining weight on purpose could be so stressful. I know I need to have a certain BMI to be approved for insurance so I will do it even if it makes me sick. Does anyone know if after the doctors appointment when I get weighed and insurance submitted does it matter if I loose or gain weight before surgery? I know some of you are saying boohoo she is loosing to much weight. I am not bragging! Thanks for listening. -
I will be at the park on Saturday.

BandofGold, I asked Jeanne, the nutritionist the same thing. I told her I wasn't get enough liquid. She basicly said to drink all the other times of the day. So my whole day is drink, pee, eat, drink pea, eat. -
Dr. Forbes Buffalo, NY 2/12 Weeks! First post!
lindatatu replied to NoPBJ's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
NoPBJ How is it going since it has been a few weeks? Did you feel like the support group at Buffalo General helped? Do you feel like you are banded yet? I hope you are feeling better about everything. -
Worries, freak outs, and questions!
lindatatu replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Travelinsnorkel, why not make an appointment at the local Weight loss center. Attend a seminar. Fill our an application. The process is lenghty and not easy requiring committment. It should let you know if you are ready to committ to the program or not. -
slinderella2B, how do I get the ticker on my signature? I tried cutting and pasting the URL's but none worked. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Debbie I am sorry you missed us. It is no longer the juicery but I found it because I was told to drive as far as the baracades. I think it says Custard and LaNova pizza on it. Please try again next week. -

Judy I reccommend Mary Jo Parker. She is PHD with an office on Wehrle Drive by Transit 634-0906. I liked her but wasn't ready to do what she suggested. I am going back. If I liked her it is a good endorsement. I am hard to please in this instance. I believe she is almost strictly food issues. -

Judy, I am starting to fall into the overeating habits too. Youre right it is hard. I have some books that help address that. As everyone tells us the band is a tool. We need to be able to change our heads too. I am counting on the unpleasant side effects of overeating or eating the wrong things to help me break the habit but I also am strongly considering going back to counseling with someone who specializes in food issues. No one can say we are taking the easy way out! -

daniellabee, I had a sleep study done and use a cpap machine for years and I feel so much better!!!! I take it everywhere, on overnight trips and vacations. I wish I had one of the smaller new models but I am so much more energetic and sleep wonderful. Last month I had an ECD (or something) under anesthesia and the doctor told me I stopped breathing during the test. I don't love the mask but I love what the machine does for me (and so does my husband as there is no snoring). And on the lighter side if your married.......he knows when I have my mask on it means I am not in the mood LOL!! Hey we have to laugh or this process would wear us down!
