Is everyone losing weight but me?

I would imagine there's a lot of hormonal influence to the stall. And truthfully, that's probably why most people tell us to stay away from the scale everyday because there will be days that we don't lose and that is totally demoralizing. That being said, we all probably use the scale more than we should -- this journey is about weight loss, but it's also about becoming healthier, focusing on a better relationship with food, and getting our lives back -- those things can't be measured in pounds. You are doing awesome -- and you are so close to your surgery date. Keep with the plan, stay hydrated, and so soon you'll see the scale move again.
  2. How can we make a support group happen? Truthfully, I’m on Facebook more than here— can we start a secret group where we can check in on each other? Anyone up for it? If so, I’d be happy to look into it. Also, the head cravings are still so real. I took my DD to a birthday party today and the smell of pizza almost pushed me over the edge (and I’m not even a huge pizza person). But I just kept drinking my protein water and pushed through. Is it too early to have NSV?? 😂😂😂
  3. I was told 60 grams of protein a day max (they actually changed the preop liquid diet at my office last month— it used to be 30grams!!) I’m on day 5 (OMG surgery is on Wednesday!!!!!!!), and I’m down 8 pounds — I’ll take it. My headaches are gone, but I’m really tired. I’ve found myself getting shaky sometimes throughout the day, but if I eat something with protein, that resolves itself. I tried to go cold turkey on caffeine this week, but caved in on day 2 after a massive migraine. I’m drinking about 1/4 of the amount of coffee that I’m used to, so I hope that will help post op. Hows everyone else doing?? Can we start a support group somewhere to check in with each other? Facebook? Is that allowed??

    Packing for hospital overnight

My surgeon doesn’t allow gas x in the hospital, so just make sure you check with them prior to taking them. And btw, Amazon has the best prices for the strips (and should be delivered in time for your surgery!!)
  5. I agree!! Today has been the easiest so far. (I mean, not to sound like it’s a walk in the park— I could totally devour any real food that was put in front of me), but I’m really glad that I went through the struggle preop so I at least have an idea of what to expect post op. I also agree about the time. It’s amazing how much time I must have spent just stuffing my face aimlessly. Hopefully I can remember that and stay on track once I’m given the opportunity for a second chance.
  6. I love the idea of a shower puff with a handle! My surgery date is May 9....it’s gettying close and I am in full planning mode at this point. Thank goodness for amazon prime! 😂
  7. Day 4 for me— it has gotten better since day 1, but it’s definitely hard work. There were about 30 min last night where I wasn’t thinking about food, so I consider that a victory! Down 5 pounds so far, which is crazy. Not super surprising since I’m averaging about 600 calories a day. The start of this journey is making me realize how addicted to food I am. I know that a lot of people talk about moderation of “bad foods” when they return to eating after surgery, but I think I’m really going to have to stay the course 100% to be successful. There are so many slider foods out there....if I can retrain my brain to listen to my stomach when I’m full post op, I’m super excited to see where I’ll be in a year. Excited to learn what it will feel like to be healthier. Carry on all, we got this!!
  8. I’m on a 7 day liquid only diet. I’m allowed 60g protein, and I do get to eat pudding as part of my plan. Right now I’m doing okay physically, besides being tired. It’s all mental at this point, which is hard but manageable. 😊 today has been tough. And it’s only 11am. 😳
  9. I’m one day before y’all!! That’s the closest I’ve found too! 😊 day 2 is going much better (so far) than day 1. I love the positive vibe in this group! Every time I rethink what I’m doing, I look at the list I made over the past 6 months that reminds me why I made this choice yo be healthier I haven’t licked any pepperoni yet, but I did spend a good 45 seconds smelling my daughter’s Monterey Jack cheese when I cut it up for her lunch. 😂😂
  10. I think sometimes we just need reassurance that we’re not completely nuts and that we’re not alone. To be honest, I’ve been focusing so much on the big picture of change after surgery that this week didn’t even make it to my radar as having the potential to be this bad. I took some Tylenol yesterday and that made a huge difference. We just need to keep our eyes on the big picture and vent on this thread. Anyone have any opinions on how this preop week (or two) compares to the liquid diet post op? Should we expect headaches and nausea to the same extent or maybe more? Thanks all for the support. At least my headaches are distracting me from the nerves of surgery for now!
  11. Y’all. I thought I was tough. I’m on day one preop liquid diet and I feel like such a pansy. I’m miserable— my head is killing me, I’m nauseated, and I’m shaky. I’ve been a total bear to my coworkers today cause I feel extra cranky. I needed to find this thread to know I’m not alone. If I’m having this much trouble on the preop diet, how am I going to succeed post op??? My surgery is scheduled May 9, and now I’m scared I’m not up for it. My weight has been the only thing in my life that I can’t conquer.... I guess I didn’t expect to have such a struggle with something so simple as one day of a liquid diet. Please tell me that this is a normal reaction preop. 😬

    Surgery in May?

My surgery is May 9–RNY. I start my liquid diet on Wednesday. I am soooo excited and at the same time terrified. Excited to make the change. 🤗

    VSG Runners Question

I can't give you my experience as I am just starting on this journey-- I had my first surgical consult today: aiming for a mid-December sleeve date. My first question for my surgeon was when I could return to running (more like slow-jogging/walking intervals) since I also signed up for the glass slipper challenge in February!! He told me I would be cleared to walk the day I was discharged, and he would expect me to be able to go to the gym within 1 week. He said to hold off on racing for 2-3 weeks, but essentially just said to listen to my body. I imagine, from what I've read, that our energy should return (or exceed) to normal by that time. This will be my first runDisney race and I am super excited-- and excited that I might be a few pounds lighter by the time I pass through the castle! 😉
