NSV: Slimmed (not slimed) myself out of a store
MoOrLess replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What a fantastic NSV!!! I can't even SEE that far down the road lol -- congrats!!! It is definitely a proud moment for you -
pfunkem - that is an awesome NSV! Truly, the weekends are my trouble time too! It is so easy to say well it's the weekend -- something I continue to work on. I ordered a 'wrap' Friday and Saturday for dinner while out - and found myself only able to eat 1/2 of the larger one Saturday nite and was able to say NO to chips, etc. It is so hard and I think you deserve LOTS of cheers!!! Way to go!!! Taking care of YOU!

Do you take off your shoes?
MoOrLess replied to argon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hmmm, I don't have a problem one way or another with shoes...take them off if you want to, don't if you want them on....at my house anyhow.....and I hate shoes and love to walk barefoot -- but only in my own home. I would not take my sandals off and walk barefoot unless I knew the other person REALLY well. I say - leave 'em on for the most part. -
Woo hoo! You go Telly - you'll be kicking Gold Gym's Butt next! lol
-
LOL Yoda - maybe he went dat way to git to Walgreens LOL
-
lins - sorry - I stole one from Texas 6 years ago lol and brought him back to Illinois for good! via E-Buy lol
-
LOL Mandi-nope I won't send you to Walgreens! It's bad enough I was talking to my Brit friend who lives in Greece about stores like Sears LOL -- live and learn. I'll just sneak a peek and be very very quiet! (kinda like Elmer Fudd) lol - you DO know who he is I hope? lol He chased Bugs Bunny all over the place!

Personally - I come here because I am 3/4 Canadian -- no it has nothing at all to do with specific band questions -- I am just curious and very interested to hear about anything "Canada". Many of my relatives are also from Canada, born and bred and ended up moving to the States for various reasons. People in general just like to learn. If we don't come here and learn about Canada we end up ignorant. So, if it is ok I'd like to drop in now and then to get a peek into your wonderful world. I don't usually post here - ever - but wanted to share my opinion. Yes I live in the United States - sorry - this is where both sets of Canadian grandparents ended up lol I even get picked on here for being a "French-Canadian" -- from my U.S. peers. Go figure! But most of all - I loved my Grandpa dearly - and he spoke for hours about great stories involving his family - one sister still lives in Canada - and I fell in love with Canada before I even visited years after he passed away.

An 'anonymous' call CAN be made - you or someone else could make the call and just express concern that there 'might' be child abuse happening. They will check - see if there is a reason to believe they need to look into it further, and if not, it is dropped. I say call - what if there IS abuse and it has happened on more than one occasion? We are here to protect ALL CHILDREN. I know it will be hard on the family to have the state involved - BUT if we don't protect the children, who will? I say - better safe than sorry. Just my opinion. Did you know that it is breaking the law if teachers and social workers do NOT report suspected child abuse? If other students know about this incident, chances are a teacher WILL Hear about it eventually and will report it. It is called Mandated Reporting - it is the law. I know how hard it is to make such a call. I have a friend (this happened years ago) who KNEW that her mother-in-law was being abused (neglected) by her son - she was old, dieing, and left to go to the bathroom on a port-a-potty in the middle of the living room with family members in the room (this is the least of the neglect). After she told me, I asked her if she wanted me to report it - she said yes - I did - anonymously - they were happy that I called and had no problem with me not giving my name. They went in - ordered her moved to a nursing home or another family member's home and followed up until she was placed with my friend, where two months later she died, with dignity and loving care. I'm sorry this is so long - it is just that this is a subject I cannot ignore. There is no excuse for being afraid to report abuse - if the family is cleared all is well - if the family isn't cleared - think of the abuse you have put a stop to.

Lindsay - you ARE a loser - of 39 pounds!!! remember that - you are half-way to your goal - you must be doing things right or the weight wouldn't be coming off. Have you talked to a nutrionist lately? Often I read on here that banders call them and do a phone consult - maybe going there would help you plan menus. Are you busy enough? When do you eat? are you just bored or really hungry? Do you SIT when you eat? Make meals the focus - then walk away and keep busy - that is the only thing that works well for me. You can PM me too if you want to. I'd be more than happy to continue this conversation with you.

You're welcome - I hope a few of these ideas will help - and don't cheat yourself - by not putting everything that goes into your mouth. Heck - then no one can help or make suggestions....be good to YOU and take one day at a time!

Congrats Vicki! I know exactly what you are talking about - I am now considered non-diabetic too - I have one last A1C at the end of June - I am off two diabetic medications and blood pressure meds (used only for diabetic safety of the kidney). Woo hoo! The only difference is that I am not banded -- but weight loss of 11.5 lbs (when I stopped the medicines) and exercise helped me too. It truly is exciting!!! Congratulations!!!! A life free of medicine - yea!

Well girl - I read your food journal and you seem to be all over the place LOL -- but a few things that might help - stick to that ONE snack between lunch and dinner maybe - and things like ranch dressing eat only fat-free stuff, why eat all those calories? Make yourself choose ONE snack and stick to it- then go find something to do - keep busy - typing on LBT works great for me lol - reading all the new posts every night keeps my fingers busy - most of all focus on Protein - it fills you up - and make lunch your bigger meal (versus dinner) if you are too hungry by dinner time Just a few things I do - I skip bread, french fries and all junk food (i.e. the June Challenge for Gone for Good Club) -- I'm NOT banded but these things are helping me to lose weight Maybe 'planning' what you will eat - typing it in your journal - and then sticking to that plan would also help. Hope this helps a little bit

Mini Me -- one thing your cousins could do is become foster parents for the baby -- often that is arranged through DCFS and then if/when they want to - they can adopt the baby. It is definitely worth them going to an attorney AND through the attorney - to DCFS. Also - they can always make a call to DCFS and give them a 'for instance' scenario so they know what should be done - what steps to take. Hope it all works out.
-
Dawg - ah but remember you are also now working out - so adding muscle changes the weight too! Hang in there!
-

It looks like a pretty feasible diet -- just beware if you are DIABETIC -- 3 bananas and milk will raise your blood sugars to a point of no return since diabetics are limited to 1/2 a banana per WEEK....otherwise go for it I say! lol
-
Check out Telly's "Lapband Poetry" thread too - I wrote a poem on there. She started it just last week - like minds think alike

It's so awesome! Seeing so many new people joining in -- great job ladies and gents -- it is by example that others learn from us - let's show them what a great Challenge is and succeed beyond our imaginations in the month of June!!! Oprah said: Don't look to other people to discover who you are - but rather look at their life as an example of how you can be the best YOU! (paraphrased)
