    No caffeine? Ever?

I had bypass, had to give up coffee till stage 5 of my plan (8 weeks post-op). Could have teas but had to be decaffeinated. I was told dehydration & ulcers being the reason. Now I can have 1 cup 'real' and then decaffeinated. Sent from my SM-G925V using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I had chronic heartburn prior to surgery, so the sleeve wasn't an option. I had bypass 11/07/17. I feel great, I have no issues with any foods at this point (kept to my program). Have not had any heartburn at all. Not even once. That alone has improved my quality of life (I had fresh pineapple this week, no heartburn). Weight loss is a great big bonus, down 28lbs since I left hospital. Sent from my SM-G925V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Stalled and stuck

I had RNY 11/7 . Did great in the hospital, came home on a Thursday and started vomiting all night, trying to keeping drinking. Called my surgeon, they prescribed me nausea patches along with the solutab. Drink, drink, drink, vomit, vomit, vomit. Called back Monday, had to go in for fluids. Want me to drink nothing but Gatorade, keeping nothing down. Had to go back Wednesday & Thursday for fluids, and barium swallow test that Friday. Turns out I had a blockage in my intestine, and constantly refluxing, vomiting. All the fluid I was trying to get down was just backing up & out. Finally the following Monday the blockage passed on it's own. I lost 20 lbs. In those 2 weeks, have only lost 3 lbs. since. But, I feel great now, couple weeks behind schedule, but so relieved to feel good again. Please follow up with your surgeons office, hopefully you will feel better soon. Keep us posted. Roux stasis syndrome

I am 11 days out, and am having a hard time. Surgery went perfect, did great in the hospital. Came home and started throwing up. Constantly. Every night it would start, go all night into morning. Had to have iv fluids several times. I was up to smooth liquids phase. Dr. Moved me back to clear liquids only. Had a barium swallow test yesterday and found I was constantly refluxing. Back to Dr. For more fluids. He thinks due to inflammation the fluid in drinking isn't draining quickly enough & it's backing up, hence the vomiting. Now I am only allowed popsicles & ice chips for the next few days to see if the swelling goes down. I am feeling pretty down at this point. Anyone else have anything similar? Thanks for any input/advice. Sent from my SM-G925V using BariatricPal mobile app

Terrible backache for 3 days. First pre-op dr. visit this morning. Looking forward to see how im doing over all. Please keep posting how you all are doing. Scared senseless.... pre-op

I am 3 days post op, and everything went great. I remember being wheeled into operating room, and then waking up in my room. Everyone was so kind, took excellent care of me. Being home has been a bit of a challenge, but i expect to feel better everyday. Thanks again for your calming words. Sent from my SM-G925V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Scared senseless.... pre-op

Glad to read this. Surgery date is Nov. 7 and I find myself questioning it. I had no doubts when i started process in April, but I am suddenly obsessively thinking about the anesthesia. No idea why. The hospital called with my final instructions, where to go, what to bring, what to expect. Instead of being happy like i was when my insurance was approved, i felt a little sick. I keep telling myself one day at a time. Sent from my SM-G925V using BariatricPal mobile app

  13. This is a great discussion thread. Are you setting your goals at starting weight, or surgery weight? I have lost 33lbs since starting in April, my surgery date is 11/7. I am terrified of setting a goal that seems so out of reach that im setting myself up for failure, or not challenging enough to keep me motivated. Sent from my SM-G925V using BariatricPal mobile app

    RNY November 2017

Surgery date is Nov. 7. I started with my wl practice in April 2017 and finally nearing the end. Happy & a little anxious. They told me in the beginning to lose approx 10 lbs by final clearance but have never mentioned a pre-op diet. Maybe when im a little closer to my date.
