I'm curious, whats in your lunch box? Being sleeved put the brakes on eating out as much as I use to. So, I've found myself packing my lunch waaaaay more than I use to. I bought a bag that I like and some colorful portion control containers. Which helps a lot. So what have you done to help with packing your lunch? What are your favorites, must have's, cant stands and OMG-I-wish-someone-would-have-told-me-sooner! for your lunch? Just trying to eat with an open mind and new options.

I had some almond chicken the other day and I had no problem. I was told to hold off on the peanuts though. -

Tomorrow I am cleared to eat anything. What veggies did you eat first?
ChelleBelle35 replied to mamamac2's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
Im 4 weeks out as of Thursday and I have been able to tolerate lettuce, pickles, olives, tomatoes and green beans with ease. I have really come to like pickles and I was not a pickle eater before. Bread and butter are my favorite, then the straight up Dill. -

I regret this surgery
ChelleBelle35 replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep your head up Sis! This is a journey that's affects all of us differently. We have the surgery in common but where it leads us to in our lives and how we feel about it is as individual as you get. Have you ever hear the saying "Eat the meat and spit out the bones."? That what you have to do with the negative comments. Take whats good and leave whats not. I respect and applaud you for sharing your ups and downs and being raw. Its doesn't always invite the kindest of people, but you put yourself out there anyway. You continue on knowing that you are helping the person who feels just like you do but is afraid to say anything for fear of being judged and called names just like you were. I will be one full month sleeved on the 14th and let me tell you, things have taken a turn for the positive. Im eating and drinking much better and I no longer dread my decision but am beginning to be aT peace with the new me. And yes, I do like watching the numbers going down on the scale. But I certainly didn't feel that way 3 weeks ago. Now, I find myself motivated to try eating in a different way. I said all that to say, be encouraged. And I hope that things are looking up for you a bit. -
I was hungry right away as well. It even wakes me up out of my sleep. I try to drink some water thinking maybe Im thirsty, but nope, its definitely hunger pangs. And intense ones too. Thank goodness the water does help, but I was surprised. I heard someone else suggest that perhaps its stomach acid, but either way, it feels just like what I've always felt. Difference is, when I d eat or drink, the sensation goes way pretty quickly and of course I'm full.

what to buy for preop
ChelleBelle35 replied to jchilion2589's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The goal of the prep op diet is to help you prepare for your dietary changes and to shrink your liver to reduce complications during your surgery. If your liver is too big, they may cancel the surgery. My pre op diet was no more than 30 carbs and no sugar. -
Nobody ever responds

Also, the goal is nutrient dense foods/meals. I go to Pinterest for lots of food ideas. -
Is this what regret feels like or is just a phase?
ChelleBelle35 replied to lessoflilo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lizzie, first of all, thank you for your openness and candor. It's this type of honesty that is going to help others. The mental and emotional aspect of this is intense. I see why they screen us ahead of time. To make sure we will be able to cope. I read this and nodded my head as I could relate to your all your feelings. And I'm so glad you found your way and your take aways we're awesome. I'm encouraged. -
Appreciation for the little things
ChelleBelle35 replied to Véronique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started pureed foods mid week two. I had my follow up 8 days after and I told my surgeon that I was literally waking up with horrible hunger pangs. I would drink some water to see if it would go away and it did for a moment and then came back with a vengeance. He told me to go ahead and do puree to soft foods and that I would know right away whether or not it agreed with me. He just told me to go slow. And so far, so good. -

ChelleBelle35 replied to lessoflilo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im glad to hear yall talk about chewing because I felt a little cray cray. I was sleeved on 8/14 and I shamefully admit that I have chewed and not swallowed food about mid week two. But then I learned very quickly that swallowing is a reflex with a mind of its own! That will learn me... But I just wanted to taste real food. Now Im almost through week three. -
Metallic Taste in my mouth !!!

I get that taste in my mouth at night after I take my iron. It goes away in the morning after I brush and drink. I thought maybe it was the iron... -

I regret this surgery
ChelleBelle35 replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Buyers remorse indeed. I had that same moment of breaking down and crying in my kitchen. My husband soothed me and told me I could do this and comforted me. I didnt realized how much food truly consumed my life. I ended up telling my surgeon and getting involved in a local support group and that has helped. So has this forum. Knowing others have felt what I have felt, and pushed passed it.
