I would like that. I am likely traveling Tuesday to Thursday. I never received any of your previous emails.

    Where are the Leesburg Bandsters?

Sorry for the delay in logging in here. I am ready to do any kinds of exercise or get together for support. I have not done any support since moving to VA. I travel a lot, but work from home when not traveling, so no particular day or time is good or bad to do things. Please coordinate anything and if I am in town I will come. I live in Lansdowne on the Potomac, so I am close to anything in Leesburg or Ashburn. I can be called at 818-269-5098 anytime or email f o o t e n at a t t dot n e t. Thanks for trying to do this. It will be big for me.
  5. I will be moving to Northern Virginia from California in a few weeks. I would love to find a support group to join. Any ideas?

Looking for a Support Group in Northern VA

I would love if we could start something up in Leesburg. I don't care if it is just getting together for some coffee or Water or whatever at a coffee house or something once every few weeks. How would you like to get this happening?

Looking for a Support Group in Northern VA

I never located either a doctor or support group in NoVa. I still fly to LA to see my doctor there.
  8. I just wanted to note, for completeness in this thread, that my pain finally went away. It happened at around 14 to 16 weeks. It had been declining, so I just noticed one day it was gone. I believe my doctor's theory that my "brain" would turn it off was correct. I will see if it returns on my next fill. I would ask those who experience this odd side effect to be patient...

Looking for a Support Group in Northern VA

The doctor in Reston will not let me join the groups unless I pay a transfer fee. I can't even get a return call after two tries to discuss. Not a good sign. I am going to look for another doctor to interact with.

Looking for a Support Group in Northern VA

I moved from Southern California to Leesburg last week. Still looking for one. Maybe you and I can start one?
  11. Wendy5391, I don't think there is any mechanism by which the diaphram irritation could cause swelling in your neck. I think you have an unrelated problem and need to see a doctor who specializes in neck and shoulder. I am 3 months out and still get pain on most days. It is especially positional, like when laying back in bed or leaning back in an office chair. It is not debilitating. My doctor has said he has seen this last, but go away within 8 months at most. He says it will go away because the brain will turn off the false signal. I still expect it to go away. I would not want surgery to try to correct it. Please go see a doctor who knows about neck and shoulder. How much weight did you lose in two years? Is the pain constant?
  12. Please note that this is about the pain that lasts for some time after the surgery. For me it has been 6 weeks or so and I still feel it, but much less and much less intense.
  13. Dia, How are you feeling now? Has the pain reduced? Mine has reduced even further.
  14. Dia, I have the same exact problem. I am 5 weeks out and it is just starting to subside. My doctor talked about the diaphram. It was definitely my biggest problem. If it helps at all, I am feeling it less now and I am guessing it will eventually subside almost entirely. I find trying different positions helps, but at the stage you are at it didn't work for me either. Maybe its a stupid male thing, but after my doctor told me not to worry and it would go away eventually, I just said screw it and ignored it. I focused on other things. Losing weight is worth the pain. Especially pain that will eventually go away. I am quite sure you will be OK within a month or two and that it will get better every day.

    Acid Attack

I have been taking my pepcid all along. I have had this attack now for 6 hours or so. After I saw you say it was common I did some research and found out that it is reflux. because I had never had a problem with it before, I didn't know the name. Anyway, I am considering taking pepto-bismol as nothing else is working. I would still be interested in hearing whether any other newly banded people have DEVELOPED this problem sometime after surgery.
  16. I was banded on Monday and have been feeling progressively better until today. This afternoon I had a massive attack of acid to the point of nausea at one point, and it is still painful. I don't normally have any acid problems. I called my doctor and he suggested it was due to finishing up a Protein shake and then immediately drinking a microwave can of cream of chicken Soup (Campbells) in five minutes. He suggested antacids and adding prilosec for a while and avoiding the cream Soups. I had been eating cream soups the last couple days with no prob but took 20 minutes to finish a can. Anyway, my doctor said not to worry. Has anyone else experienced this? Why? Any suggestions for getting rid of this? Thanks!
