    Where is everyone from???

Banded 5/19/08 Vermont is the place I call home, was born and raised here and will die here I'm sure- Love to travel but home will always be Vermont.
  2. I have hypothyroidism as well I started medication back in my late 20's and I'm 43 now- my meds have not changed since having surgery on May 19 ,08- and I don't believe they will.

    new to site

I would explain to your doctor that you pay the bill to see her and your asking for her help with weightloss and if she can't see beyoud the excersise, eat less thing I'd find a new doctor ASAP- Losing weight via the lap band is not easy and if she was an informed doctor she would know there is a process before and after the surgery that must be followed in order for it to work. its very sad when doctors are not informed on a process that can help the health of a patient.

    mother of three

Hi There, I am the grandma to 18 month old twin boys, although they don't live with me I found it helpful to just sit in my chair and let the boys climb on my lap- I did no lifting until week 3 after surgery. Everyone is very different I had surgery on a monday and back to work on Thursday, feeling like a million bucks others had to take up to 3 weeks off, just take it at your own pace and let the little ones have a seat on moms lap but no lifting for a while. Best of luck to you

Calling all my May 19th buddies

I too am stuck on the scale at least for now, its a bit disappointing but I'm holding on I don't have my first fill date yet I'm hoping it will be in July- and it will help with more restriction seems I have none right now. I am walking every day and swimming 2 hours a week which I love- but the weight isn't going any place yet~ Thanks for the myfitnesspal.com website I'll have to check that out.
  8. I only packed what I had on and my Ipod so I could have music (I had a roommate from hell so this was a good thing) when I went home I went home in what I wore to the hosptial- I didn't use pain meds after my surgery no need- surgery on Monday, home tuesday, hung out on Wednesday, and back to work on Thursday- This was truly easier than I ever thought it was going to be. I was one month post op on June 19th and currently can eat anything I want, I did liquids for 5 days post op, than a week of mushies and than real food.. I am lookiing forward to my first fill in july. Best of luck to you-

    lap band surgical disaster

I am so very sorry you suffered this fate, with the lap band- I am wondering how many lap band surgeries your doctor has done and what was his failed percentage? because these things do happen I often wonder if its the lack of experiance of a doctor or what the cause was- Continue to heal and take care of yourself.

Calling all my May 19th buddies

Hi All may 19eers!, I can eat everything and anything no issues what so ever, I don't have a fill date yet which worries me a bit I have a check in with my Doctor on July 3rd I'm hoping he schedules me for a fill- I am very disappointed in my weight loss at this point, as of Thursday June 19th it will be one month and I haven't lost a pound since my June 29th appointment- When I say I can eat I mean I can really really eat- I try not to eat till I feel like I'm going to explode but I thought I would have some restriction but nothing~ freaks me out really. I have found that eating hamburger is out- it cases me to have nasty gas in my chest, but other than that I can eat whatever is put in front of me. Dr. Forgione said he expects me to lose 4 pounds before the next weight in on 7/3 no way is that going to happen with no restiction- in the end I am responsible for what I eat but darn I wish I had some help with restriction here! Come on first fill! LOL

    Anyone else eating normal?

Hey Rubberband, One day at a time right? Its very discouraging for everyone, I find that by noon my hunger pangs are out of control no matter how much I drink water~ R U avoiding drinking when you eat? I don't normally drink anything from 30~60 minutes after my meal when we drink directly after it pushes the food through the whole real easy, so we end up with the hunger feeling much sooner- We didn't gain weight over night so I know the band isn't going to make me lose over night either, we can and will do this my fellow bandster- stay strong everyone we'll be on the beach yet!

    How much time off??

surgery on Monday May 19th back to work on Thursday May 22nd desk job- with little moving around- felt good though didn't need pain meds at all - so I think everyone is differnet.

    Anyone else eating normal?

I was banded on 5/19 and god help me can I eat! today I had two pieces of pizza and I don't really care for it but it was left over and fast to grab for work today- I am trying really hard to watch what Iput in my mouth but its not happening, I won't even stand on the scale out of fear that I am gaining some of the weight back I had lost during post op- next appointment isn't until July 3rd- and than he is suppose to tell me when I can have my first fill.. OH PLEASE LAB BAND GODS HELP ME!)

    Eating too much after surgery

Hi- I was banded on 5/19 went to my first post op appointment on 5/29 and had lost 7 pounds I haven't stood on a scale since out of fear It won't go down and I'll be so dissappointed what I can tell you is 3 weeks out I can eat everything expect burgers! for lunch today I ate two pieces of pizza! It scares me that I can actually eat two pieces rather than just one- Any how I go back to see my doctor on July 3rd, he expects me to lose only 4 pounds between the 5/29 visit and the 7/3 visit- which isn't a whole lot and I was dissapointed when he told me that- but I will take any weight loss as long as I continue to lose its better than gaining right?
  15. Hello All I was banded on May 19th came home all was good minus the normal gas in my shoulder went to work on Thursday and Friday felt fine all weekend, today Day 8 post op I woke up so sick to my stomach its not funny, I could bearly drink water today, did anyone else experiance the upset stomach after feeling really good at the start? I am worried there is something wrong at this point- I see the doctor for first post op visit on Thursday.
  16. May 19th was surgery date- all went pretty smoothly- 10 day pre-op liquid diet was ok nothing to write home about after day 3 life was pretty good- Got to the hospital on 5/19 for 6:45 am as I was told to do- never got brought back for set up until 8 am- what a long wait, normal stuff happened pretty darn fast- IV, Meds, Doctors visit, etc 8:30 am wheeled into OR- don't recall much other than getting the happy meds in my IV within 2 minutes I was out. Woke up in recovery about an hour later, stayed there until my room was ready at 12:30- dozed on and off all day- had the room mate from hell she was pissed that she was in the hospital and decided to make me pay for it by having her cell phone ring at all hours, her tv up on high, the nurse finally brought me in some ear plugs! She refused to turn down her TV. Tuesday, came I had my swallow test darn that stuff is nasty tasteing, I got my first drink of Water in well over 24 hours it was soo good, I passed the swallow test, they removed the IV I got dressed, called my sister for a ride and was home by 2:00 pm the next day, I didn't have to have pain meds which I was pretty amazed at- but I felt good. There have been moments when I wonder why I did this but for the most part I'm happy and I know I'll be happier once the weight finally comes off, its just a slow process thats all. take care everyone.

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Banded May 19th, first POST OP appointment was May 29 and I was down 7 pounds since the day of surgery, and that gives me a grand total of 17 pounds all together from the 10 I had to lose before surgery- a bit disappointed seems I feel like i'm missing out on foods I used to enjoy- I don't ever truly feel hungary, and i'm now off the liquids, so its back to normal food, if I only lost 7 pounds on liquids I can see the next month is going to be a rough one.. LOL I go back for my next visit on July 3rd doc says I should be down 4 more pounds by than sounds reasonable but was hoping for more-- I just keep saying time time all in good time!)

dr wont schedule me for a fill

Hi, First congrats on your 9 pound loss, I have not gone for my first fill as of yet, seems I'm only 2 weeks post op, however 9 pounds is a good loss for 3 weeks at 3 pounds per week, did your doctor explain that a loss of 1 to 2 pounds is the normal weight loss and a fill is only suppose to happen if you stop losing weight and are able to eat more food? A fill is to help you get back on the weight loss journey, you should be so happy your already doing it without the fill In time you will need a fill for now enjoy your ability to lose without the fill. Take care:rolleyes:

    Memorial Day FOOOOOOD

366- good for you! it was hard I know that feeling we celebrated my parents 45th wedding anniversary during my 10 day pre-op diet and all that wonderful food I chose to sit outside while others were eating, I had a glass of milk to help keep me away from my favorite foods- I know its hard but god knows next summer when I'm 50-60 pounds lighter and playing with the little ones wihtout feeling like I'm dying for more air I will be thankful for that missed dinner! stay strong 366 you can do this we all can.

Drum Roll Please...... May 19th Surgery!

How are all the May 19th Banders doing? My one major complaint is the gas in my left chest area, damn that hurts- I'lll be going to work for 5 hours on Thursday and Friday- less if I start to feel like crap before my 5 hours is up- Good luck everyone-
  24. :thumbup:I was banded on May 19th at 9:00 am, I spent the night in the hospital and used very little pain medication while there- I got home in the afternoon on 5/20 and quickly went to bed I was so tired from dealing with the room mate from hell- my biggest concern at this point is the gas like pain I'm getting under my left side- damn I get it when I eat I get it when I don't eat- I am on a full clear liquid diet for 4 days, than on to full liquids for 10 days than on to mushy food- I've got to tell you I'm not looking at food like i used too- the thought of eating jello makes me feel sick to my stomach. I realize this is only day three so I just have to give it some time I don't think I'm experiancing any different thany anyone else other than the need for pain meds- I'm thankful I haven't had to have any since coming home.
