Thanks for the input everyone. I got the okay from my dietitian and he said it was fine to have coffee. I drink mine with almond milk and sugar free flavorings. So I have gotten a couple 10 oz cups but I've found I have only been able to drink a few sips. It doesn't make me sick or anything or even full. I just get kinda paranoid that it may if I drink to much. I just went to the store and got unsweetened cold brew and some sugar free creamers to make my own at home that way I am not wasting money.

Okay thanks for the input guys. I have my appt in two days so I will steer clear until I get an official okay. I feel really under prepared my surgeon and dietician didn’t go over much with me at all. My dietician said I could have coffee after two weeks. Other then that, that’s all the info I got. I got a sheet of paper that says when I start introducing each new food texture. Wasn’t told what types wasn’t told much of anything. So I kinda base it off of what other people are doing during each step.

Pureed or blenderized food ideas
Paityn replied to lauratro's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
See this is what I have been thinking of doing. I have had zero problems with liquids so far. Knock on wood. And i advance to puree in a few days, but that sounds so gross so i really want to just east softer foods and just chew really well. How is that working for you? -
FULL LIQUID DIET POST-OP HELP!!!!!!!!
Paityn replied to ashrn80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my gosh it’s not just me! I’m dying here too. I’m 6 days post op. I need to start upping my food intake I don’t think I’m doing enough. I have like 1/3 a oikos triple zero yogurt in the morning usually and like 1/4c cream of chicken. One premier protein a day. And I just had to up my water intake cause I was getting dehydrated. But I keep reading all the people are eating more then that so I don’t know if I’m getting enough. But yogurt and the cream soup. It’s wayyyy better then broth. Feels like food 😂 -
Feeling back to normal/“buyers remorse”
Paityn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have surgery the 29th. Went good I’m very healthy besides my weight. When I woke up said it went longer because they found a hernia or a hernia was starting to form freaked me out. THe rest of the 29th I basically slept. Woke up the 30th so so thirsty. I was having trouble peeing getting enough water etc. By that night I was in pain I could th pass gas I was basically like holy crap what did you do was this the right choice. I couldn’t sleep at all. I was so uncomfortable in bed. Finally they gave me some more pain meds me nausea meds that make you tired and I was able to get back to sleep. Pain has Lessened substantially. I’m able to pass gas I was noticing a lot of cramping and while it hurt to walk I know that was what would best help me. So I’ve been released I’m home now. Just wondering when you all started noticing your bodies not being in pain or uncomfortable etc. I have some pretty cool scars so that’s neat -
Feeling back to normal/“buyers remorse”
Paityn replied to Paityn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all your comments guy, im doing pretty great. My pain is pretty manageable. I did over do it today and tried to go to the store with my mom, I was miserable the rest of the day. I've cut back on the narcotics, its really uncomfortable to sleep without them. So I am just taking them once a day at night before bed and plan to ween off in the next two days. Water intake is the hardest part for me. I feel so full and my stomach starts to cramp and rumble. Any advice on that. I am only drinking about 32oz of water and 3/4 a protein drink and I know I need to up that so i don't get dehydrated. -
Bullied into the Sleeve
Paityn replied to tonibella21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everybody is going to have an opinion unfortunately. I myself got the RNY is struggled between doing that and the sleeve. And I just weighed the pros and cons for the future. Like in the long run which side affects of surgery could have the greatest impact. SO the sleeve has a higher risk of acid reflux. My mom gets that really bad as she’s gotten older so I figured if that was to be later in life I wanted to try to nip that in the butt and do he gastric bypass instead. I’m 3 days post op right now. Happy with my choice. I’d say just do that will work best for you. It’s your body. -
So I have surgery in 13 days. I just had my 2 week pre op appointment yesterday, and then a seminar. I was doing so well up until the seminar when everyone was asking all these questions and commenting on things i didn't even think of. The anxiety and nerves are starting to set in. I know this is a huge lifestyle change and I am fully prepared. I have wanted this for so long and for it to finally be here is a little overwhelming. My family and friends have been so so supportive but I cant help but still be scared. This is my first major surgery. I have only ever had my tonsils taken out, that doesn't even count. I'm scared for it to be super painful, for me to not be able to sleep. That I wont eat enough at first or worse eat too much. Basically everything is just rushing at me all at once. Can you guys give me some reassurance. Tell me your stories/experiences? It would be much appreciated. Even though im surrounded by friends and family I am just feeling a little alone, like they don't understand what I am going through, how long and hard its been for me to get here. I started this process in December of 2016, so its been about a year now. Thanks

Wow you have been through the ringer!! I hope I get that experience as well, I love the doctor I’m seeing and the team is so awesome. So I know I’m in good hands. It’s just such a monumental thing. Good luck to you and hopefully after this next surgery you’ll be all done with them and on the road to recovery.

Thank you!!!! I will check them out for sure! thanks for the advice!! I will make sure to walk lots!

Hey everyone I have a trip planned about 6/7 weeks after surgery. Going to Disneyworld adventuring around Florida etc. I was just curious as to what to expect. If it may be too much to handle walking/ Pain wise. Etc. if anyone has experience with going on a trip soon after surgery. Thanks

It doesn't sound long at all that's what had me so worried. So I'm relieved that I should be good to go. I've always healed pretty quick so I'm hoping that's the case this time as well. My surgery is November 29th I'm excited but also kinda nervous.
-
Great thanks! I'm a pretty active person. I do a lot of walking on the daily so that won't be an issue. I just wasn't sure if surgery would greatly affect getting back into that.

Hi everyone I'm just curious as to the excess skin situations people have faced. I'm 23 and will be having surgery in a couple weeks. I know they say if you are younger sometimes it can bounce back a bit. Also depends on weight and all that though. If you guys have pics I'd love to see. If you had surgery to remove the excess please let me know your stories. How long you waited. Cost and any info you can give me.

Hey so I'm new to this site. I've been on my surgery journey since December of 2016. I'm waiting for a phone call this coming week and we should be scheduleling surgery. I'm just wondering how recovery was for everyone. Pain level wise. How long it took till you were able to head back to work. I've been hearing 2 to 3 weeks. I'm a nanny and will also be going to school about 2 weeks after surgery will be. I've always been good with pain and always heal a little quicker then they've predicted but I know with bigger surgeries it can go either way. So I'd just love to hear your stories and how immediate recocery after surgery went for you guys. Thanks

Yeah I've always been a quick healer but every scenario is different. And this is a big deal. I don't want to push myself to hard and then have to take even more time off because I over did it too soon. I appreciate the input. I had nothing to go on.
-
Thank you so much. This was very helpful. I nanny for a lot under 5 and that was my biggest concern, picking kids up and how'd I'd feel going back to work if it was too soon. I love my job and it's a lot of running around being busy so I wanted to make sure I gave myself the best shot and I'm safe both for me and my kids. So I think I'm leaning more towards taking 3 weeks off just to be on the safe side and then easing back into it.

Thanks guys for your feedback. That's helped me out a lot. Congrats on your surgeries and I hope things continue to go well for you:)
