    Beginning Pre-Op Process

Welcome! I very purposefully did not do "food funerals" because I didn't want to be obsessing over what I couldn't have. I just kept telling myself I couldn't have it for a while but in the future.if I want a bite then that is ok if I have met my protein goal. Then I don't have that panic of thinking I will never get to have a favorite food again. My psychologist said 1-2 bites is reasonable, and if you can't stick to that, you just tell yourself you need a break from it until you can stick to that. The VSG has helped me feel satisfied with just that when before I needed to binge on the while thing. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Question about protein shakes

Definitely this. I loved the Premier chocolate ready to drink pre surgery and now I can't stand it. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

Steamed tofu in coconut Thai soup

I was allowed soy in week 3 so I would think tofu would be okay. But your surgeon may feel differently.
  5. I'm still struggling to meet my protein goals post-surgery -- the Premier Protein shakes I used to enjoy now make me nauseated. Too sweet! I ordered some Unjury unflavored protein after reading several recommendations. Tried it mixed in some food and it was... okay. Didn't care for what it did to the texture of my food. Then I saw on the back of the container that they recommended mixing a scoop with skim milk. I thought "great!" - I love drinking skim milk, and if this is unflavored, it should solve my problems. Right? Right? WRONG. It tastes like a yeasty cheese milk smoothie. Ugh. Back to the drawing board.

    Adventures with Unjury Unflavored

Yes, I'm on a version of soft foods from now until Christmas, probably, just adding things one bit at a time.

    Adventures with Unjury Unflavored

I bought some of the GENEPRO but I've read mixed reviews on it so I've been hesitant to open it up and try it. I had no idea that the hardest part of this so far would be drinking a silly protein shake!

    Adventures with Unjury Unflavored

I'm actually eating soft foods! I just still have to supplement with protein shakes for now.

    Adventures with Unjury Unflavored

Yeah, I think I was a bit naive to think "unflavored" would really be unflavored -- I think I was kind of expecting like a Miralax sort of thing, and it's definitely not. I'll look into the Fairlife milk! Is it real dairy milk or some kind of milk substitute? This stuff might be good in some cheese sauce or something, though I'm not seeing that on my meal plan in any large enough quantity to matter...

    Skipping pureed

I had my surgery on 8/16 and I pretty much skipped pureed, aside from refried beans, but since my program allowed soy at this stage I went right to the crumbles and never looked back. I am eating my first bites of chicken today. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Post surgery question

I found that the sensation of being to chew is what helped me feel satisfied, so you could be lacking that, and so you may just have to tell yourself "it'll get better soon!" Another thing is making sure everything you eat is high in protein, since protein also can help you feel more satisfied.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I gained immediately after surgery too, about 10 lbs, but it all can off within the first few days home. I assumed it was swelling.

    C pap

Pillows are key. You can get special CPAP pillows for side sleepers, or you can use soft pillows to create a space. I have used a CPAP for years and am a side/belly sleeper. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

That is about what I can do. I have had egg beaters mixed with soy crumbles too. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Scareddd

My sleeve surgery was two weeks ago and I can tell you my pain was under control from the moment I woke up. I was sore and moving around was painful, but not intolerable. It got better very quickly and I was off all pain meds by day 4. Communicate with the surgeon if you are really afraid or concerned about pain. Edit: Realized this is the bypass forum, sorry to inject my off topic experience! Will read better next time. [emoji26] Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

I'm in the same boat with the proteins and liquids. I have resorted to drinking milk because at least that's some protein and it doesn't make me gag! I know it will keep getting better. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any August 2017 Sleevers?

Had my VSG on August 16. Struggling through two more weeks of liquids. Finding it very difficult to drink enough - I always feel full! And protein shakes make me sick so I'm having to get creative. I know it will get better, though! Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app
