I was feeling very dissatisfied with the band because I haven't lost hardly any weight (banded in March of 08) and I even thought that I might have a leak in my band. I called the hosp. and they said no leak. But I don't have the restriction that I want. They tell me I shouldn't be able to eat bread so I tried it to see if I could and I had no problem eating bread. I don't feel restricted and I have had several fills. I am still exercising on a regular basis but feeling like a failure. My plan right now is to stick to it but its getting difficult to keep my head up about this. I expected better results by now but I can still eat and have very little restriction. At this point I am glad I didn't tell too many people about my surgery.

I fear that my band also has a leak and it is pissing me off. After I get a fill I feel restriction for about a day, maybe two and then nothing. I haven't really had any restriction since early on and I feel horrible about this whole situation. Mad, sad, angry, depressed and worried about how I am going to pay for another surgery. I am going to call my doctor today and express my concerns and ask about alternatives. I want to know how much it will cost to have a second surgery. My insurance doesn't cover anything since I was a self pay. I never really lost much weight and didn't know anything was wrong until about a month ago. Maybe I just didn't want to admit that there could be something wrong. This is just great. -
I am from Springfield and I was considering going to a support group in Mitchell. THis just isn't something that you can talk to your friends about. I doubt that many of mine would understand. I am 6 days post surgery and feeling stronger everyday.

Sue from Yankton, I would like to hear how things are going for you. I am from a small town close to Yankton and didn't want to tell a lot of people about my decision to have the lap band surgery. Are you going to any support groups?

Have you checked into Dakota Dunes? Apparently there is a doctor there that does the lap band so maybe that person will also do fills. Another place to check out is Mitchell SD. I didn't realize that they preform the lap band surgery there but I guess they do. I had my surgery done by Dr O'Brien 5 days ago.

He may do fills but he is not a lap band supporter. I attended his seminar in April and he is more into the gastric bypass.

I am also three days out of surgery and feeling much better today than I did yesterday. I walk around some and do some light house work like push a broom very slowly. My main concern is that I am always cold and i hope that gets better soon.

I am just three days out of lap band surgery and there are a gauntlet of emotions that i am still going through. Should I tell my "friends" that I cheated and had surgery to lose weight? That question was taken out of my hands by a teenage son who mentioned it to several people that I had lap band surgery and that is the reason he had to miss half a day of school - he had to take care of the farm while we were at the hospital. I haven't been out of the house yet but I am feeling pretty good after three days and about ready to show my face around town. It will be interesting to see what kind of reactions I get from people - we live in a small rural community and we all know how small towns gossip.

Are you still hungry with the Lap-Band, but just can't eat?

I am three days out of the lap band surgery and I have not been hungry. At least not yet. So far so good. My greatest challenge has been to be in the kitchen cooking for others and not tasting the food. I look forward to the days when I can eat even yogurt again.
