August Sleevers-How are you doing??
BigAussieGirl replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good morning August sleevers. I had my sleeve on 29th August and since surgery I've lost 11 kg, I think that is about 25 pounds for our American friends. I feel it's a bit slow as I'm a big girl and thought I lose more. I've been averaging about 450 - 500 calorie a day. Later this morning I have an appointment with my dietitian so hopefully I'll get some tips on how to move forward. Although I haven't lost a lot of weight I'm feeling really good, my knees aren't hurting, I'm eating less crap and I'm exercising more. I'm so glad I've gone down this path. I'm 41 yrs old and I truly believe getting sleeved has added years to my life. Finally, I'm thankful for this support group, reading about others experiences has but my over active brain at ease and has helped me feel 'normal'. Keep up the great work August sleevers! -

I've lost 1.5 kg in 5 days - it seems the stall is over, if the weight loss says at this moderate pace I'll be happy. -

I decided I deserved a present when I lose 25 kg, so far I've lost 23 kg - so I've ordered a new guess hand bag off of e-bay. I wont use it until I hit the 25 kg. For me, this is very motivating -

Week 3 post op and I haven't lost anything for 5 days. I'm trying to be positive and logically I know weight loss isn't linear but I want to see these damn scales move! On the plus side went to the gym for the first time since surgery, just lifted very very light weight (5kg). I thought it couldn't hurt. -

I was on about 300 for the first 2 weeks, when I went back to work I upped my calories to about 400 - 450 a day. I'm just not hungry at all. I'm finding that I'm a little tired though,so I've just been to the store and brought some protein drinks which should help. Apart from being a bit tired I feel great, and getting a few compliments about my weight loss hasn't hurt any -

Hi August sleevers, I had my sleeve on 21 August 2017 and so far I'm down a total of 25 kg (I think that's about 55 pounds). A question - how many calories a day are you consuming? I'm don't have an appointment with my NUT for a few more weeks and I'm interested to see how many calories others are consuming. I'm currently on minced /very soft food. I'm confident getting sleeved is the best life decision I've ever made! -
The ricotta bake looked amazing. I hoping someone will post the recipe as well!

I felt great after the surgery. I was on pain killers for about 8 hours and then didn't need them. It's hard to explain what my stomach feels like. Generally you can't feel it but when I go to drink or eat you feel full after just a few mouthfuls. 6 days out from surgery and I'm convinced this is the best decision I've ever made -
You have done a fabulous job. Well done.

I had my surgery 21 August. I was on pain killers for about 8 hrs and then felt fine after that. The gas pain was annoying, mine was under my ribs, in my chest not in my shoulders like they prepare you for. I found deep breathing helped with the gas pain. I'm now feeling great. I've been walking everyday and I'm about to go out with my family today to watch my nephew play football. I struggled the first few days to get the water in but that's getting easier now. Good luck! -

I had my surgery earlier this week. I have a lot of weight to lose. So I'm setting lots of smaller goals so I don't get discouraged about how much I have to lose. My first goal is to be able to shop in 'regular' clothes stores. -
Congratulations!

Surgery tomorrow

I found the best thing for the gas was walking around and deep breathing, the pain lasted about 8 hours. I did sleep inclined, I didn't have any problems falling asleep, the pain medication knocked me out pretty good. I was back home last night and just slept in my regular bed, there was no pain at all. The only pain I have is getting up and down from a seated position although its very mild, more like a discomfort then a pain. -

Don't stress about the pain. I had my surgery on Monday. I was on IV pain relief for about 12 hours and then on Paracetamol for 2 days, now I'm not taking anything. The gas pain is more of a discomfort then a pain, I had my gas pain in my chest not in my shoulder's like some do. Good luck with your surgery. -
questions about the beginning of sleeve process in au
BigAussieGirl replied to anewmee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in Adelaide, all I had to do was have a blood test. My Doctor didn't insist or recommend a psych evaluation or any imaging or testing. As far a the psych evaluation, I'm not sure if my situation is a little different to most people, I have a psychiatrist as I have bipolar, I had spoken to her about having surgery and she was very supportive of the idea, and I had told my surgeon this. I'm assuming a lot of it would come down to an individuals current health and medical history? I did see a dietitian once, but to be honest I didn't get much from it. She spoke about portion sizes and protein, carbs etc. I had my first appointment with my surgeon at the beginning of June and my surgery is booked for 21 August, the whole process has been very quick and my Doctor has made it extremely easy. I've had 4 or 5 appointments with my surgeon. I have been very impressed with the whole process so far. Good luck on your journey. -
I'm scheduled for surgery on 21 August as well. So far I've lost 20 kg since I began this journey at the beginning of June. Up until now I'd been feeling pretty good about the whole process but today the anxiety has started to kick in. I'm from Australia and the process here is pretty straight forward, not to many hoops to jump through with insurance or anything like that. I've tried to be as organised as I can be prior to my surgery, I have a freezer full of soup and I've done everything around the house I think I need to do .... I hope... I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and a speedy recovery.
