Prepared for Protein and Broke as a Joke Now
smgallop replied to NicoleW8ing's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations! The banding's not long away now. Also, I admire your spirit of preparedness. You've got it on the ball and will be successful with this sort of planning and attitude! Keep us posted. -
What to do until fill????
smgallop replied to singermama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sooooo glad to see this post. I don't get my first fill until May 9th. I've been banded since April 3rd. I'm hungry, stressed, angry, frustrated and upset. I'm starving! I refuse to eat more than I am supposed to, but I'm feeling the emotional effects. Also, I've not lost weeight in a week! I'm really not a happy camper. -
I've had walking pneumonia and a bit frustrated because for about a week I've been fluctuating in total weight loss from 38 to 40 lbs. I want to lose more and know lack of physical activity have had to make a difference. I'm just frustrated about it. I get my first fill next Friday, so I'm hoping that will help as well.

6 weeks out and I have to have surgery again
smgallop replied to Sweet_pea_2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gosh. I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I've never heard of this happening to anyone else. Please keep us posted and let us know how it goes. -
I work in Conroe and would be interested in meeting for the support group during lunch hour or shortly after work. I could really use the commradery and friendship.

Dr. Collier did my band as well. ( banded April 3rd) I am very pleased with him and the nutrionist that he works with. The free fills for life is super cool too! I highly recommend him.

Have you completey lost interest in foods?
smgallop replied to Brandy~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think this will eventualy pass. You will want real food again. You are going through a huge change right now. Your body will require different foods later on. As far as food cravings go... I absolutely detest candy bars and fried foods. I think it's psycho-symatic (sp) for me though. i can't stand the thought of eating absolutely junk like that ever again! Also, I get very frustrated by large plates of food put in front of me at restaurants. (This is even true about the "kid" sized plates. I just can't imagine ever eating that much food again. -
Congratulations on taking the first steps! Keep us posted. We're all here to support each other.

Need some quotes from some lapbanders for a paper!
smgallop replied to elizgillette09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Liz, I was banded on April 3rd, 2008. I'm not sur ewhat kind of quote you are looking for, but here's my two cents. The lap band is a tool. It's not a means to and end. Bandsters have to eat right and put blinders on to what the rest of the world is eating. A bandster must destroy the bad eating habbits that they've had the past. The band can be cheated and the momentum can dissapate as plateaus are reached. Faith, perseverence, patience and support are the tools that are most important. I've lot 38 lbs thus far and am proud of that. However, I have a long way to go. I've found that the band and rapid weight loss have I have sustained has amplified my emotions. Keeping clothes that fit is a bit of a chore and a blessing in that everytime I turn around I'm in a new size. I know that it won't always be this way. When I reach my goal weight, the toughest part will be sustaining it. -
I'm failing my band....so someone PLEASE kick me in the butt!!
smgallop replied to gwhite's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with "my turn" and "a great need" posts! They nailed in on the head. You don't need to be kicked in the butt. You need to be inspired and know that others care about your success and journey. Once you know that everyone is behind you, it's easy to succeed. :crying: Keep the faith! It's going to work. -
Sick and need diet and lap band friendly comfort food recipes
smgallop posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am in bandster hell right now. I get my first fill on May 9th. Right now, I've got an upper respiratory infection and feel really crummy. I was wondering if anyone had any comfort food "lap band friendly and diet friendly recipes" they could share. -
I was hoping someone using Dr. Wilkenfield would answer your post yesterday. Since no one did, I thought you might want to try calling my doctor. His name is Dr. Collier. He has an office in the Woodlands and in Conroe. I really like him. He has been doing lap band for quite some time and he and his staff have great patient care skills. Also, his nutiritionist is really cool.

My nutritionist suggested to eat every three hours to get metabolosim going. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it has been working.

Congrats on getting the band. Welcome to the forum. This is a great website. There's lots of people that care and will cheer you on during your weight loss journey. The first few days after getting the band are rough, but you will be back to yourself ina few days! Keep us posted on your progress.

It's been 80 degrees for the last week. I'm really cold at night too. I think that it is a side effect of the band, but I am not certain. I too am taking baths and using my bed warmer tostay warm. That might be something to ask the doctor about too. I am going to ask mine when I go in for my next apt. on the 9th.

Congratulations! That's wonderful! Keep up the good work. One day you will be as skinny as that personal trainer.

Elated before the big letdown... :(
smgallop replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Occaisionally, we will hit what are called "plateaus." You're body tries to maintain your weight because you've lost so much so quickly. I call the Dr. and the nutrionist and get advice on what to do when you reach a plateau. Also, you could be retaining water if you're close to your time of the month. -
I'm going through puberty again.
smgallop replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for putting this thread together. I am very mild mannered. I maintain a professional demeanor at all times and try to be a good example for my co-workers and daughter. However, I lost it last week when my boss gave me a some pressure because production my production was down while I was recuperating (sp) from lap band surgery early this month. The discussion about hormones is very helpful! Thank you! I didn't know that was part of the lap band experience. -
I finally am below 200 lbs! I'm sooooo excited I couldn't contain it.
-
I've been banded since April 3rd. Congrats on getting your band scheduled! Keep us posted on your progress.

Call the doctor. They should have an explanation or invite you in for an apt. Either way, they are the best choice you have for advice on that. RRight after surgery my port site hurt, but now all is well.

Congrats on being in the last stages of pre-op. For me, that was the most nerve-racking time. I was nervous about everything. I think, once you're banded everything is much easier! Keep us posted on your progress.

Congratulations! You will do great!
