Brainstorming a business model - your input wanted!

I could understand where some people might find the concept agreeable for them. In that case if there was such a place and it works for you - awesome - whatever gets you in the gym!!! However, I agree with Luluc and BamBam - I personally would like to see more offerings/support for the bariatric members at regular gyms - and they might find that lucrative for their buisness. I also would not like to see any further isolation/segregation of the obese. Let me be dramatic for a moment - For those that say wouldn't you rather not feel like everyone's staring at you, making comments, etc. - Think about the comments such as "Oh - you go to the 'fat' gym" -

many marathons do allow walking - you just have to finish within the 6-7 hr mark. Some of the really big ones don't. The Kansas City one (which is what I'm doing) doesn't have a separate category for walkers and that's where the problem comes in. When I did the St louis 1/2 - they did have a separate category - and although you weren't forced to finish by a certain time - they just informed you that at the 6 hr mark - the course would no longer be kept open (free from cars) so you might have to move to sidewalks. I don't know if they still do it but in the one I did - they even let the walkers start an hour earlier (also had a slightly different route so you really had 7 hrs.) Good luck on the running - that idea strikes fear into my heart (I think I would rather walk 20 miles /day for several days then run 13.2 - make that even run 5.) Kudos to you!!!!!

YESTERDAY: Walked 5.8 miles. So - don't get me wrong - I know that I have had amazing success - I have worked hard and reaped some great rewards. (Now let's be honest - I will admit that I could be doing even better if I kept my snacking to more of a minimum and chose healthier options and if I hadn't waited so long to get a good exercise pattern down. But back to my point this afternoon - it cracks me up knowing how much time and effort I have put into this process so far, how much weight I have amazingly lost forever and yet there are people who are or have started their lap-band journey at the weight I am now at. Although this is great for them - it makes me a little sad when i have that moment that reinforces just how far I have yet to and want to go! - OH WELL - ALL THE MORE REASON TO GET OFF MY CABOOSE AND KEEP WORKING!

I have been contemplating walking the KC marathon in October! Here are my thoughts: Several years ago I walked the St. Louis 1/2 marathon - I was a similar weight (5-10 lbs more than I am now) so that hasn't changed much. I'll have trained for about a month longer. The distance oddly doesn't scare me - I'm trying to do a long walk once a week now and just this week walked 12.2 miles for my long walk. I'm worried about not being able to get to a and keep up a 14-15 minute pace - if you don;t then they kick you onto the 1/2 marathon course - part of me would be really bummed if this happened - since I really want to complete a marathon especially since I've already done a 1/2. My other concern is realizing the huge time commitment for the next several months with all the training. Oh well - regardless I guess worse case scenario - I've done another 1/2 marathon - but I'm still going to train hard for the marathon.

I recently celebrated hitting the 100 lb mark! I was so excited and wanted to Celebrate in a special way - I ended up donating 100 lbs of food to my local food bank. It was a special moment celebrating my amazing achievement. I initially just posted a picture documenting it to my profile but since my profile is public many people saw it and commented favorably. Several people suggested I make a public post and suggest this to everyone. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that but you know what - it is a great idea and ironically very fitting - so here it is - I challenge everyone to donate food to your local food banks in honor of hitting your special landmarks - be it 100 lbs, 50, goal, etc. CELEBRATE BY HELPING OTHERS!

I have just recently lost 100 lbs!!!!! About 60 lbs still to go. I posted about this earlier under the general discussion forum but thought it would be very fitting here. I have continued to 'reward' myself appropriately throughout my journey as I have seen others do. I wanted to do something special though for hitting 100 lbs - so instead of rewarding myself I decided to do something for others. In honor of 100 lbs gone forever - I donated 100 lbs of food to my local food bank. I would like to challenge some of you to do the same - Celebrate by helping others!
