Oh I hate that problem - been there myself many a time (sad how much food is a meeting motivator) You could try putting a picture of your former self on top of the container and the dollar amount you are going to be paying for your plastic surgery. can I just say how nice it is to have you down under awake when I'm awake at night working. Good Luck!

Well it's official - I have registered for the KC Marathon Sat. October 17th. I have lost my mind!

There's very detailed instructions that you can search for both on the site and if you just google it - but basically it's a way to help you retrain you how to use your band more effectively (help you feel restriction again if you have been overeating for example) some people it helps them realize wheteher or not they need a fill (ie: they might think they do because they've been eating too much but once they do the test they realize they're fine) it basically does 1-2 days of liquid protein (protein shakes, jello, soups, pudding) then day of soft protein (eggs, canned fish, etc) then day of firmer protein, non canned soft fish and then last day is firm protein - you basically can eat as much and as often as you want of the selected items but only for 15 minutes at a time. It also has the added benefit for those people like me that in their overeating have been essentially carb loading - and it helps you kinda fast from the bad carbs (such as many of the slider foods) Hope this helps!

I LOVE football! - Now my teams might not be the best but Ilove them and there is nothing like fall weekends and watching men enjoy killing themselves. Living in KC - I love my Chiefs and I am a Jayhawk! No exercise today (will try to walk for my lunch hour tonight) and only a minimum walking yesterday.

Excuse my lack of knowledge in current/new terms - but I just found out there is an actual meaning supposedly to nekkid "something freaky going on" but i guess basically whether you're naked dancing or nekkid dancing - the freaky is going on!

see once you get me started....... As a learning opportunity for us all let's review: If you are stupid enough to drink and drive, wreck your car and wind up in a hospital - please realize that it is not ok to: 1) Steal an ambulance when you get discharged 2) Wreck the ambulance 3) Cry like a little baby when you wind up back in the hospital b/c the big bad police dog bites you up and down as you tried to escape. I'm just saying!

Does anyone eat fruit in this forum???

fruit fresh is amazing - most stores have it in the produce or canning section - it's a powder (basically I think its a from of citric acid) that you either sprinkle on or can mix with a little water and then toss with the fruit. - also helps keep guacamole beautiful. -
Thanks for the welcome - Warning - I bite back!

Ok I seriously don't know what my problem has been the last 2 days - but I can't stop eating - today it took a whole new level out of control - I think I at least doubled the calories I ususally take in a day. To top it off over the last month - not only have i not lost anything - but I've gained a lb (the lb was before the last 2 days - so I know its more now). That's even with all the exercise - and no I do not subscribe to the whole it's muscle concept! Basically I really need to just go to bed and stop the caloric intake for this day - but unfortunately this is one of my >24 hr days - and I have just gotten to work. So needless to say - I need to do something - think I might due the 5 day pouch test starting tomorrow. Must get out of this funk!

LU - I would have to do some serious deep breathing. I think next time your truck is in the vicinity of the brat (now I love children - but she is an uncontrolled brat) you should immediately say in a very matter of fact manner that she is not to touch your vehicle until she can learn to treat other's property with respect and pay for damages she causes - then go on talking to her mother without dropping a beat. I wonder if the mother is secretly hoping that either 1) no real damage was caused and she doesn't want to ask in case there was or 2) she knows there was damage and sneakily thinks that unless you tell her she doesn't have to do anything. Both of which go along with her defensive stance recently. Although there are many times when very good parents do all the right things and kids just go through bad times (sometimes those times last for years ) but that girl is probably just like her mama in more ways than one. My nephews know that what I say goes, even if their parents are around. Good Luck! BTW - I think I like it here and will post more often.

It makes me so mad when people are driving and don't pull over for emergency vehicles and yet I don't think they would think twice about complaining if they were in need of emergency help and it was delayed. I have been blessed several times with taking care of an officer injured in the line of duty in our ICU. It truly is an honor to care for those who put their life on the line every time they go on shift - not because they have to or it pays the bills - but because they choose to.
-
Looking good Ceradad! What's the new routine? Sadly I did not work out today - but my pedometer says I walked 4.9 miles during my shift last night - doesn't count though. Currently planning my long training walk for tomorrow - not sure if I'm going to do a true long one or a shorter one with speed intervals.
-
TODAY: walked 7 miles.
-
Thank you very much - you're very sweet! BTW if your ticker is up to date - Good Luck tomorrow - You'll do great. Be awed at the fact that tomorrow you regain control and will be an inspiration to many others!

I love fruit and miss eating it in the quantities I used to. Oranges just don't work for me anymore though. - I love having fruit in smoothies, or with a little granola or Protein Cereal over greek yogurt. I will occasionally eat fruit as a snack by itself but I usually try to have it with some sort of protein (apples w/ pb or have a piece of cheese too) -
Luluc - I have to tell you I love this thread. Hopefully it will help me be more accountable in my exercise as our 'share food ideas' does for eating. (accountable in variety as well as amount) Funny story today - So later after the walk I stopped off to run an errand and while getting back in the car - 2 young men standing against their car (next to mine) were talking and 1 of them makes a snide comment about my eating a Protein bar and how eating those don't make you lose weight - maybe I should try exercising. (impressed they could tell what I was eating) So while loading my car I asked him if he worked hard at being ignorant and insensitive or if it was a natural quality he has developed. I then agreed that eating Protein Bars does not help one lose weight but if you walk 16 miles as I had just finished doing a couple hours before then they help you recover. Now from their smirks after my statement - I doubt they believed me - but I didn't care - I knew exactly what I'd done and smiled, took another bite and got in the car!

hadn't exercised in a couple days - made up for it today with my long walk for the week. Today marks the longest I have ever walked at once: 16 MILES !! (4.5 hrs) Let me tell you - my right foot and knee think I'm still going!

Several years ago when I had previously lost 55 lbs (with south beach) I was training to walk a 1/2 marathon. Now I want to walk a marathon. I think I can handle the distance - been doing a long walk once a week and I'm up to 12.2 miles and the marathon isn't until October. I'm just not sure I can keep a 14 minute pace which is required or they kick you onto the 1/2 marathon course - which is ok and at the least I'll do the 1/2 - but I really want to finish the full marathon. So, is there anyone out there who has completed one or is thinking about it? Could use some advise.

Thank you so much for responding. I'm excited that you've done it. Did the race organizers say anything about limiting your time to 6-7 hrs? (part of me wonders if this is just a fake threat or if they're serious.) What was the hardest part? Besides training more - what would you advise? helpful hints? Were you overweight when you did it? if so did that bring up any special issues? Thank you very much!
