Ok everybody - hang in there all of you!- I kinda feel guilty for not having any major trials in my life right now - but of course I guess you have to have a life to have trials. - Problem with being a workaholic. Lulu - although it sounds like you've already been baking up a storm - but I have a great lowfat zucchini bread recipe that doesn't taste lowfat. I grew up with large family gardens (zucchinis that looked like they were given HGH) my mom used to always make the most delicious stuffed zucchini - one had ricotta, parmesan and mozzerella w/ fresh herbs or pesto another basically the same but with sausage mixed in and topped w/ marinara and sometimes she would just toss in bread cubes, eggs, fresh herbs and parmessan - just wanted to give you some ideas to feed your army. Realized something funny tonight - was watching the local news while making dinner and saw that they were having local auditions tomorrow for the biggest loser. Now I love the show - but cracked up when I realized I was no longer a candidate b/c I didn't have 100lbs to lose :cursing: who knew being too light could be a downside.

Ebony - I'm glad to hear the fighter coming out of you - sounds like you have a good plan - don't you roll over and take what they want to dole out! You go girl!
-
30 min on treadmill which actually included 10 min of running :scared2: will try to do some more tonight

I apologize to my withering friends in Texas - but this is a first for me in KC (at least in recent memory) I had the windows open all night - had to pull up the covers and the temperature inside the house is 5 degrees less than what the air conditioning would take it to. I did a double take on the calendar to make sure I hadn't slept through the rest of summer. I'm sure this will be a distant memory come next week but I'll take it for now - think it's supposed to be even cooler tomorrow!
-
G4E - you deserve sweet dreams after a day like that! Hang in there hon! Now as far as Plain being a playmate - that might be a good look for him :scared2: forget the hoodie and grab some bunny ears and a cotton tail! :wink2:

Juneact - Congratulations. My indulgences change month to month - for awhile It was frozen cookie dough, or gelato. Funny story - for weeks I had been craving a gyro (just the meat, feta and tzatziki sauce)- was so excited and thought it would go down real well - well for some reason it just did not agree with my band. 1 gyro was like 4-5 meals for me. Wanting it so bad, i tried it for 3 days, even different times of day just so i could enjoy it - never worked! :scared2: oh well - something will come to mind another day. So you go girl - enjoy the donut!

Today: day#3 5dpt B: muscle milk lite protein shake L: 2 laughing cow wedges, activia light yogurt S: 2 sugar free popsicles D: 1/2 fajita burger (2oz) w/ roasted red pepper cheese spread and some smashed avocado :scared2: S: probably repeat of the popsicles

You'd be welcome in KC anytime - but you don't want this crap. I really want to go to bed right now too - but since my body is so used to little sleep - I would probably be back up by midnight. So I must keep myself awake for a couple more hours
-
Sounds like hell to me - appropriate for you I'd say! Lulu - I don't know how I do it either - I keep saying it's some sort of illness.
-
I prefer the light (premade shakes) the regular taste too sweet for me - the light chocolate milk flavor tasted exactly like real chocolate milk to me. I tried the powder - but I just don't think I'm a powder protein person - tasted too much like protein powder - does that make sense? My favorite - either making at home or getting an iced sf, ff, vanilla latte from any coffee shop and pouring the premade mm light chocolate milk in - BEST mocha latte drink I can think of!
-
I drink the muscle milk light and think it's great!

I'm excited b/c the next couple of days are supposed to be gorgeous!. Lulu - glad you like the work stories, if I get to come to texas I have many more that probably shouldn't be shared online. glad to have tonight off especially since in the last 3 days I've averaged 2-4 hrs sleep/day and then today only got 1hr before i had to be back at the hospital for several mtg's. nervous because I have to give a lecture on saturday that 1) i don't feel prepared for fully 2) the audience is 99% physicians spending all day tomorrow preparing after my morning walk

Coming from you - I expect it to be very interesting - the suspense might just do me in! You know that although others may not understand - sometimes we have to find the humor just to get through it. I'm actually having a hard time sitting still right now - the new RN I'm training is about to come off orientation so I need to let him do everything - which I have a hard time doing - so needless to say this is what has allowed me to be on here so much

Chevron marathon/ Aramco half-marathon in Houston 2010
kcmagu replied to Jennyt71's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I've only walked a 1/2. I'm training to walk a full one in october. If you google marathon training - there are a lot of programs for running or walking and many of the ones I've seen usually do work off of a 6 month training period - so you should be good. There are some programs that specifically say for beginners. Good luck! I'm in awe of your ability to want to run it - that seems so amazing to me. -
Well that explains why people thought you had a large member - it's ok though Plain - I hear not everybody thinks size matters. Thanks for the tip though!

So I have a severe trauma (motor vehicle crash) patient flying in. The fire truck that resonded to the scene -was just nailed by a tractor trailer and now that driver is coming in. What is wrong with people - flashing lights do not mean come towards me - and I will move out of your way! I pray that driver will be ok - I don't think mine will be. I just don't get it! (Not a great week for emergency vehicles in Kansas City)

So I have to go to Sonic to get hit on - too much temptation!
-
Fanny - I am feeling your temptation myself right now. the family of one of my patinets just brought in the biggest platter of fresh chocolate chip cookies, a huge cheese and fruit tray and a giant bag of m&m's for us tonight. I am on day 2 of the 5d pouch test so fortunately I am going to hold out I think - I did grab 2 sm cubes of cheese i think i can - i think i can - i think i can!
-
Wow - I am jealous - the word 'Special' comes to mind. .....visions of a very small school bus somehow won't leave my mind
-
Is that a glimmer of hope I detect in your posting that you might not be the only one? Since your so advanced I mean - being Doogie and all!
-
well Plain - I'm sure by 'old' respiratory man - you only mean this because you started when you were 10 right?
-
slim - I feel you! still doing the 5dpt but I crashed hard last night with the carb cravings - I was physically sick to my stomach, had a horrible headache - actually got lightheaded and had to leave a pt's room when I went under the heating lights. (never experienced it like this before - think it was worse because my degree of carb intake over the last week was so bad - just a guess) Tonight: (day 2 of 5dpt) B: currently enjoying my mocha latte protein shake - with an extra shot of esresso (notice I am ignoring the recommendation for staying away from caffeine - ya right!) planned: S: activia light yogurt L: black bean soup w/ shreds of cheddar, purreed S: sf, ff, chocolate pudding D: not sure - either same soup or a muscle milk lite shake or cream of wheat w/ pb - have options!
-
It all depends on the day and my drive - I average between a 15-18 min mile. I ask myself all the time why I don't start jogging (time wise) but I just detest it for some reason - that might change though 20-30 lbs down the way. Last night - very tired only walked about 2.5 miles on my lunch break. Today - so far I did a 50 min dvd (billy blanks boot camp) and will try to walk on my break again.
-
Ebony hang in there - I'm so sorry you're going through all that - maybe your union rep will have some reassuring words for you. In answer to your question I am an ICU nurse (if you haven't gathered I work nights) in a trauma center - the 'knife and gun club' is how we like to refer to the gangs. Should be sleeping right now but my gutter man is back and he likes to wake me up.
