    One week Post-op!

You will feel like like you are eating constantly for the first few weeks, it gets easier. My ability to drink more at a time increased quickly. But yeah, it’s a chore at first. I ate a lot of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, refried beans or pea soup and usually 1 protein shake a day. I couldn’t do puréed meat so I depended a lot on dairy during that time. I bought a little insulated lunch bag w an ice pack so I could take food with me if I was going to be out of the house for more than an hr or 2. I also recommend Cooking eggs in the microwave as opposed to on the stove, they come out much softer and more moist than the stove top. Good luck!

    Overate ate at 7 days!

Tried a creamed butternut squash soup at 1 week out and also felt awful, it was way too heavy for me that soon out.

    Workout music

Digging anything Santigold right now... also just plugging in "Indie Dance" into Pandora gives a nice mix.

    Food scales

Also purchased an inexpensive one off of amazon, just looked at ratings and grabbed one that looked decent. Have had it for about 3 years, works great.

    Gastric Sleeve: Daily Calorie Intake

I've been around 900 cal since about 1 wk post op. 3 months out now, sx at 230, now at 188.
  7. I eat the same stuff almost every day, with just a little variation, so i prob wouldn't post it over and over. However, i do like to read what others are eating on the daily, esp. those in maintenance, gives me an idea of the future. Thanks for starting this thread Fluffy.

    Weight loss stall

Many people hit the dreaded "3 week stall", hang in there, you will start losing again. Your body has been through a lot and is just sorting things out.
  9. Wow! you look fantastic! Believe me, shedding those last few lbs to get into the 100's will feel like forever, i sat at exactly 200 for at least 3 days...but how exciting once you get there!!

    Fitness Trainers and WLS

I recently started working with a personal trainer because I wanted to learn how to safely lift free weights, something that always intimidated me in the past. It's been a fantastic experience, you can't help but feel like a total badass lifting a barbell overhead ...even if its only carrying 30lb . Good luck!
  11. Congrats!! 40lb is a huge hunk of weight to lose! Just hit my post op 40 as well.

    Electronic weight loss program recommendations?

I have only used MyFitnessPal for both food logging and and weight tracking. Very interested to hear what other apps are available though.

    Pre op

I had no pre-op diet, my surgeon only asks folks who are 300+ to do a pre-op diet. I was skeptical too bc it seemed like everyone else was doing a pre-op diet but me. My surgery was without complication and i've had zero issues post op...
  14. Taking multivitamin? Lack of potassium can cause muscle spasms "charlie horses"? You may want to notify your surgery team, they may want to check bloodwork.

    Cigarettes post op

HI Rose! Congrats on your sleeve, glad you are doing well! Just a word of caution, I have heard that people, once sleeved, can have a tendency to transfer their food addiction to something new... just in case that once a day cigarette becomes more frequent. Good luck on your journey! ...and no i don't smoke, but i have a heck of a coffee addiction post sleeve.
  16. This is awesome! Glad you are taking stock of all your successes, even the little ones..it will give you something to look back at if/when times get tough. I think you just inspired me to do the same!
  17. I would say I average about 900 cal/ day, some days higher or a little lower since 1 week post op. I freak out a little about this bc others here say they didn't go above 600 cals for the first 6mos etc or til goal, but it seems to be working. Log everything i eat on my fitness pal, like you, no bread, pasta, processed foods, sugar. 70-90 g protein, 50 ish in carb and prob 40 in fat. Had been doing a light gym routine a few days a week for 3 weeks but just start crossfit, so may need to change my intake depending on how i feel, recover.
  18. Sx sept 6th so, this coming wed will be 12 weeks. Started at 230 and am at 193.2 today.
  19. No problem! I had a little freak out of my own today thinking I was doing something wrong bc the scale is barely moving. I thought “i’ve been in the 190’s forever!” . In reality I looked back at my weight and I’ve been in the 190’s for a little more than 2 weeks and I have lost 6.8 lbs in that time. It’s a head game for sure.
  20. 43lb in 10 weeks is awesome! I definitely gain water weight just before my period, then swoosh, let it all go a couple days later. It sounds like you are doing everything right diet and exercise wise. I think its easy for us to get discouraged or stressed when the scale isn't moving or temporarily going in the opposite direction because many of us have failed at dieting so many times part of us is just waiting to fail bariatric surgery as well. Please don't be discouraged, it's just a bump in the road, look at all the progress you have made so far!

    Too much?!?

102316..Where are you in your journey? It's hard to give advice when we don't know where you're at. Your profile says you are pre-op, but it sounds like you may be post -op now. If you are post op you should have instructions from your surgeon on your diet progression over the weeks post op.
  22. Hi up4challenge! I'm sorry you are struggling. If you are not doing so already, I would start logging all of your food intake on an app like my fitness pal, this way you will know exactly where your nutrition/ calories are on a daily basis. It would be lovely if our new tiny stomach did all the work for us and we never had to worry about over eating again, but it's simply not the reality for most of us. I realised very early on that I could consume way more calories than I should if I'm not paying attention and logging everything I eat. You may also want to show us a typical day of eating for you so people can give you some pointers. I can tell you right off that bread and potatoes can get you into trouble, you may want to stick to protein, veg, a little fruit and maybe add in some beans/ lentils as carbs if you need as they are much better for you and also have a good amount of fiber. Others here will say forego the carbs all together , you will have to see what works for you to get the scale moving again. On a personal note, I have to stay away from sugar/ bread and other refined carbs, they drive my hunger through the roof and derail my diet, not to mention make me irritable..
  23. It really depends on where you are starting. On lightweights a 20 lb loss may look dramatic.. on a 300+ person, they may need to lose significantly more before people notice or they even notice themself.
