How are you getting your protein in?
Hopefull2017 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so tired of the protein powder but without it I am only getting about 47 oz of protein. I can't eat more than two oz of food at a time. I am tell growing discouraged because I can't seem to get all my water in, I can only eat 2 oz of food at a time without it feeling like the food is at the top of my throat, the multivitamin makes me sick & the list goes on. -
I started the purée diet today. I ate an omelet around 9 this morning and I was starving by 11:30. Is this normal????

When I was sleeved on 8/10/17 my doctor repaired a hernia and told my husband that would fix my acid reflux. I am drinking a protein shake but feel a burning at the back of my throat like reflux. Has anyone else experience this?

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Hopefull2017 replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello fellow August Sleevers. Hope everyone is doing ok. I was sleeved on August 10th and started purée on 8/31. 1. How are you all managing to get your water in daily? 2. How much food are you able to get down? When I eat I feel like my food is sitting at the very top of my throats only after eating 2-3 bites. I don't know if that means I am full or if my stomach is still full of air. What are your thoughts? -
hair loss after surgery

You're more than welcome. There is another product you can get at Sally's beauty supply name aphogee two step protein treatment to help prevent hair breakage. I used it a couple years ago when I over processed my hair. I don't know if they have changed it or not but I didn't like the smell and the way it made my hair feel but I worked. Google it and see what you think. I am African American and my hair stylist said letting the hair air dry is not good but she didn't elaborate as to why. -
Is this what regret feels like or is just a phase?
Hopefull2017 replied to lessoflilo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you just summed it up perfectly. I didn't cry but I was mad at the world for letting myself gain so much weight, for letting my health get out of control and having to have a procedure like this to help me lose weight. I got so tired of protein shakes and soups. I was trying to do things by the book provided by my doctor and potatoes weren't on my list. Finally I just stopped eating everything with the exception of popsicles and looked forward to phase 3. It was hard but now I am on purée foods and not sure I am doing it right. Not sure if I am full or it it is gas. This all is just a confusing process. -

I felt the same way. Popsicles saved my life. -

Please don't take this the wrong way but have you been to a dermatologist? To me it sounds hormonal. I had to have a hysterectomy a couple years ago and was thrown into adult acne. I break out around the jaw bone area. My dermatologist told me that is the area where you break out when it is hormone related & the hair could be related to a high level of hormones. I think you should make an appointment with your doctor to get your levels checked. Also, the bumps I got hurt and itched. -
Feeling very down and upset
Hopefull2017 replied to graziellabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People are sometimes a buzz kill because they're jealous. When I went through the multiple appointments to get to the procedure I told the PA one of my fears is not being able to eat the things I love. I love McAlister baked potato and shelf salads. She said you will still be able to have the things you love but in moderation. The key to making this tool a success is moderation, exercise and just making healthy choices. It is a lifestyle change and we can't pick up all our bad habits but we can treat ourselves once a week. I plan on enjoying life on the weekends and taking care of business during the week. I was sleeved on 8/10. -
hair loss after surgery
Hopefull2017 replied to jermic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Below is the link to the YouTube video I watched where she talks about the protein treatment. A protein treatment is a product you can buy at a beauty supply house, Walmart, Target or Sephora. I hope this help. I haven't made it to that stage yet but I am very nervous about it. Let me know how it goes. -
hair loss after surgery
Hopefull2017 replied to jermic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone I have talked to said it is from lack of protein. I did a little research on YouTube and one lady said she started doing protein treatments on her hair and it stopped the breakage. So, prior to my surgery I talked to a hair stylist who specializes in the health of the hair and she said protein treatments. I started them prior to my surgery in hopes of saving my hair. -
Which one do you take, how many a day and around what time? I was taking nexium but not getting any better. She was originally going to give me prilosec.

So I have a purée food update. I was really hungry the first day. I am guessing because I was coming off the liquid diet where I wasn't eating anything I was extremely hungry. Couldn't find a soup I like, couldn't and still can't get down four bottles of water, sick of the protein shakes, etc. those 21 days I was hating life and second guessing the decision I made. Now I can't even eat 2 oz of an omelet. After the second bite I feel my food sitting in my throat. I am from one extreme to the other.

I was sleeved on the 10th as well. I totally forgot about the patch. I will call my doctor office tomorrow to see if I can purchase the patch. Thanks for reminding me.

Does the multivitamin make anyone else sick?

Anyone else have no nausea ever and can drink a lot one week post-surgery?
Hopefull2017 replied to tiff_nj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am feeling like maybe I stretched my stomach as well. It has been hard for me to get my protein and water in while on my liquid diet but I started the purée food yesterday and feel like I can eat and eat and eat. It is like the purée food is doing nothing for me. Maybe at this stage I need to be having food every two hours are so? I just didn't expect to be hungry. -
Yes, I am.
-
I also have read where some people said they have to make themselves eat because they're not hungry.
-
I totally agree. My omelet consist of one egg, less than one gram of cheese, a slice of bell pepper and spinach. It took me a hour to eat a little more than a half. I really need to get myself on a better eating schedule and I think I want be so hungry. I'm not eating between meals because I am sitting at my desk working and then I get extremely hungry.

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Hopefull2017 replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with Queen Tiff. It is rough! I was sleeved on August 10th and I am still on this horrible liquid diet. I don't eat anything and I still have horrible acid reflux. I was taking a prescription from my doctor for the reflux and it wasn't helping. I asked if I can take Nexium and it is not helping. So I just bought Pepcid and going to see how it work. I can have soft foods starting Thursday and I am on the count down. -
I keep feeling like I have a pill or something stuck in my throat and I'm only on the liquid diet. The last two days the only thing I've had is popsicles, protein drinks and water. Anyone else have this happen?
