August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Jeaniered replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You have been to hell and back, but now you have to try and relax and let things take their course - Why would you put weight on? It's not really possible while your hardly eating anything, you might stall but that's your body sorting things out. You will get there. I've had the same feelings as you, but it's slowly working. I've stalled a couple of times and it's made me depressed and panicky, but even when my weights not shifting, inches are! Try to only weigh yourself once a week otherwise the scales will take over your life my biggest problem is meal times, I struggle to eat more than an ounce at a time, if I do - It gets stuck, I feel sick and get a headache, I know I'm dehydrated, just can get the protein and fluids in!!! One day at a time, -

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Jeaniered replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not suppose to drink for 30 mins, before during and after but I can't eat without drinking as I can't swallow my food so I just take little sips. When I eat and for about 30 mins after, I feel ill - I'm hungry, but after a couple of bites i don't want it, I feel sick and get a headache. It takes me ages to eat anything. Weights going up and down like a yo yo, but slowly going down. However, my clothes are telling me that I'm losing more than the scales are showing. Im going on holiday in a weeks time to Sicily and I'm worried about how I will manage. 🤢 -

When your over soft feeds Follow a low carb diet an eat fish, chickrn, lean red meat, port loin, lots of veg, seeds, beans, cheese, low fat yoghurt. I can't walk that far yet, trying to increase this, had a new knee last year so it slows me down. -

32 days since op. Seen my doc yesterday, told me I don't need to eat just soft foods anymore. I've to eat normally 3 meals a day plus 2 small snacks (if needed). I've to count calories, eat high protein foods first, and stick to 800 calories. Treated myself to cheesecake to celebrate, 4 mouthfuls and I was done, but it was the first food that I quite enjoyed. Not really liking any food at moment and struggle to find anything I want to eat! Also have hit another stall! Probably not eating enough! -

I felt the same, didn't want to move or drink water. Had to force myself and only walked about the house for Five minutes at a time before I was desperate to sit down. I used a hot water bottle to help with the gas. Don't know why, but it helped. When I got to about 8 days I started to feel much better. I'm 30 days today, and so much better, have been on holiday, out for a meal and can go shopping. It will get better honestly. I still get discomfort, don't like food and have no appetite, I get grumpy and tired but have dropped 3 dress sizes and am starting to feel like a new person. -

Good luck and walk tall. We both know it's not "easy" probably one of the hardest things you can do. But hopefully this time you will maintain your goal forever. -

sleeved on 8th. Just going from puréed to soft. Struggle with water and know I should drink more. Managing to eat around 800 calories a day, with 6 small meals. Don't have any desire to eat, food doesn't really interest me at moment. I sometimes get food stuck in my chest, before it goes down into stomach and I end if having to make myself sick as it hurts too much. No problems with food in throat though. Are you drinking water at same time as eating? That might cause it. Good luck and keep smiling x -

it's normal, I stalled for two weeks (weeks 2 and 3). Got very downhearted. Was really struggling to eat enough calories, have now managed to up it to around 800 a day and have lost a further 15 pounds. 36 in total. Just going into week 5. Don't let it get you down, it will happen - how can it not? -

Thanks so much I appreciate you taking the time to go through this with me. I seen my doc 5 years ago and asked for help, he said he would look into it but didn't. I nagged him but got no where. In the end I have had to pay privately, even though I had a number of ailments that supported me getting it done on nhs. I went to Nuffield hospital in Leicester, they were very good, though the anethnatist was an ignorant pig!! I didn't have too much pain afterwards and got out the next day. Suffered a bit from sickness and gas but it all got better but now I have a pain in my left side that comes and goes, it gets worse if I walk too much, it's like toothache, not so much in my stomach or where incisions are but more in my side where my ribs are? I must admit I didn't really stick with puréed stage and have gone onto soft foods quickly. If I eat too fast I suffer, usually have to make myself sick! At moment I'm struggling to eat 800 calories and trying hard to get protein in. I've lost 35 pounds so far. Hairs ok, but have got some great thickening shampoo that really seems to be helping and doc is going to put my vitamins on prescription. I get that taste too, doesn't make me throw up, just a horrible taste and end up sucking a sugar free mint. I will get the book and thanks for the tip on clothes. I will take your advice. My husband did buy my a lovely size 16 dress for my birthday as an incentive. Otherwise, I've picked up a couple of things in the sales but will hold off as you suggest. Thanks again, lovely to talk to you x -

Not feeling so good today, I have a constant pain in my side that's getting me down, I see the consultant next week and will check on it. My weight stalled for over a week, but started again and I lost 3 more pounds this week. Seemingly stalls happen a lot, reading up on it, it seems that if your not eating enough protein and drinking enough water then it can happen. Some people suggest upping calories for a couple of days then reducing them right down and it shocks the body into moving again. I tried chicken tonight in small chunks but ate it too fast and it got stuck, God did I feel ill. 🤢 Will try the m&s soups. Hope your feeling ok as well. Xx -
How do I stop eating so fast?
Jeaniered replied to Sleeved3.29.17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Done it again today - ate too fast (not because I was hungry, I just forgot) and then had to make myself sick as it hot stuck and I felt so ill. I've ended up only getting 500 calories and 29 grams of protein in by eating two protein bars. -

If I forget and eat too fast then it comes back up! I really wanted some bread yesterday, just a couple of bites- big mistake, I forgot that bread swells! Had to get rid of it! -

This might sound horrible but you can chew just don't swallow 😂. Yes finished injections last Friday. I did them myself in my tummy. What vitamins are you on? You know that you can get them in prescription? I'm on soft foods and have discovered naked noodle - like pot noodles but nice. Lots of good flavours such as curry, Thai curry and lemongrass. I/2 pot does me at the moment, but it helps if your missing spicy foods. Good luck. -

I don't feel the need to pee, before if I needed to go, I had to go straight away! Now I go to the loo because I feel with all the water I'm drinking, I must need to pee! -

I'm eating a lot of fish, eggs, diced chicken and protein bars. I Have just gone into week 4. I think the dumping was because I ate something too fast and it came back up. And another time I ate an oaty choclate buiscuits. I ate it then ran to the toilet and lost it immediately. Still eating 6 smallish meals a day and looking forward to eating normally 3 times a day. Have you drank any alcohol? I had a very small glass of wine and was ok.
