Good luck to all of you approaching your surgery in August. I was sleeved on August 8th 2017. If I can offer any help and support please let me know. I have lost 104 pounds so far and feel great, there have been tough times through the year but it all works out. Everyone is different so what works for one person might not work for you but remember there is lots of support and advice on offer. Just don’t sweat the small stuff.

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Jeaniered replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi August sleevers. How’s it going? Are you still losing? Let’s have an update and keep the motivation going? I’m still getting there slowly but surely. Had a problem with hair loss for a few months and thought I was heading for a wig! but started taking biotin and my hairdresser confirms that it’s growing back. I dont track my calories anymore and still try to stick to protein first. I still can only eat about 2-3ounces of food at one time and don’t really get hungry but I do nibble. Cashew nuts are my downfall as I seemed to be able to eat them easy enough 😂. Hope your all doing ok. It’s been a up and down battle for us all but boy have we worked hard! Who said it would be easy 😆. -

Think I have lipoedema and would be interested to know if anyone else has it and if this has prevented them losing weight on their legs or if the6 gave overcome it. In lipoedema, the thighs, buttocks, lower legs, and sometimes the arms, become enlarged due to a build-up of abnormal fat cells. Both legs and/or the arms are usually enlarged at the same time and to the same extent. The feet and hands aren't affected, which creates a "bracelet" effect or "band-like" appearance just above the ankles and wrists. Leg and arm size can vary between individuals with lipoedema, and the condition can gradually get worse over time.

I haven’t gone on the scales yet since I got back from my holiday. Tomorrow I will see what damage I have done and then start a plan to sort it out. If necessary I will go back to shakes for a few days. Put your photos up,I am sure we will see the difference and give you the encouragement you need. -

I stalled for about 2 weeks and was getting frustrated then I realised When I looked at my tracker that I had gradually slipped on my water intake. So I upted it back up to 65 fluid ounces and I’m loosing again. 3 pounds this week. Hard to get it all in but it’s worth it. Keep at it August pals x -

Some of my friends have said they wish they could have it done but can’t afford it, for them it’s the cost. In the uk just about everyone has to pay for bariatric surgery, the nhs will only pay if it’s life threatening and then you have to wait years. Private Insurance won’t pay so for me I had to pay $16,000. Luckily I had recently retired (early) and had a good pay out so my husband said it was the best thing we could use the money towards to make sure I lived longer to enjoy my retirement and the grandkids. I am proud I had it done and my friends all seem to support me. -

Good luck, keep us posted. -
On bariatric pal you will get negative remarks but you will also get positive and supporting feedback which I found priceless at the start of my journey. Don’t take it personally. For me I wanted to lose 90%of my stomach and I think I did, if not more! I hated food as much as I loved it! Look what it did to me and I blamed everything on food instead of looking deeper. Now I can only eat very little amounts (about 2 ounces at a time) but I’m not sorry. I feel fabulous. I feel sexy, happy and healthy. Good luck on your journey if you need support we are here for you. I promise.
