    Sleeve vs rny

My BMI is just over 40 and my surgeon mentioned that even though I have reflux now (minimal meds for it) he is confident that we will be able to keep a handle on it. I sure hope so, I don't want a second surgery or bad reflux.

    Calling all October sleevers!!

Oh wow, mine never said anything about that. I'm still one visit before approval but I will definitely ask about it.

    Sleeve vs rny

I have the same question. My mom had RNY about 24 years ago and had a lot of medical issues related to it, which really worries me. I originally wanted the lap band (10+ years ago) but after a lot of research this past year I feel confident about VSG I'm just worried about the reflux. Right now I take Zantac when I have an issue but I'm worried about it getting worse after surgery. I would love to read everyone's input on this [emoji177]
  7. I am new to posting & responding on these threads. I mainly use my iPhone/app to post or respond on these threads. I apparently ventured into a men's group somehow and responded to a post, I'm not sure how I got there but can someone please explain to me how I did it, so I can avoid it in the future. I didn't mean to interrupt their conversation and had I have known there was an all guys/girls area I would have stuck to my own area. I thought all of the posts were for everyone. I'm sincerely sorry for venturing into man-land and bothering you guys, please help me figure out how to avoid that so I do not repeat. I usually go into the Gastric Sleeve Pre-op section of the app and occasionally the post-op so I can plan ahead for my surgery & beyond. Which sections should I avoid & how do I avoid them?

    "LAST SUPPER"

I haven't really thought about it but I don't have a surgery date yet so I guess I will have to figure out what I want for my last supper [emoji4]

    What I want to believe

I agree 100%! I have actually backed out of having WLS before because I lost weight on the pre-op diet and just knew I could do it on my own. That thought has crossed my mind again but I refuse to quit this time. Other people might be able to do it on their own, but I need help and I'm happy to seek it out [emoji1360]

    Honest question: new to posting

I haven't really explored the app or website very much, I guess I need to do that. I was just excited because I had found so much useful info, answers to my questions and questions for my nutritionist & surgeon.

    Expect the unexpected lol

I think that the post was in the post-surgery sleeve forum. I can't find it now, I'm sorry ☹️

    Expect the unexpected lol

I was told due to ketosis or hormones that we produce a different smell after surgery and that it goes away after a bit. I will try to bump the post for you [emoji1360]

    33 days!

I was surprised by the upper GI, so gross! I need to have it done one more time just before surgery because I have a hiatal hernia, not looking forward to it [emoji20]
  16. That is awesome! I'm almost 40 and I've been back in college now for 2 semesters. It is definitely not what I remember college being like when I went after HS or 13 years ago when I went back for a bit. It's tough but you just gotta keep pushing forward [emoji1360]

    How much time off?

I was wondering the same. I am a student and missing more than a week would be horrible, I'm praying I can go back asap. I bought a rolling backpack and can take the elevator to classes on upper floors. 🤞🏼

  20. Oh wow they were so fast in getting you scheduled after your last appointment, that's awesome! I was a little discouraged thinking it would be a month or more after my last consult. I will pray that you have a safe and successful surgery, easy healing and many wonderful milestones to follow [emoji177]

What is a non-food activity your REALLY looking forward to?

I want to do kick boxing and cross fit. I don't have the energy to do it now but I would love to get to that fitness level someday. I have a goal dress, it's been waiting 8 years for me to wear it, that's when and why I bought it. I plan to wear it in 2018 [emoji6]

So, what made you gain weight in the first place?

My family has issues with weight and weight related illnesses and early death because of it. I was a size 7 when I got married, 5 days later I was in a bad accident and that is when it all began. I had a lot of pain and stayed drugged up with pain meds for a long time, before I knew it I had gained 40+ lbs. Over the years I lost some and gained more. Poor food choices & lack of exercise have been my massive downfall. I considered WLS a few different times but backed out thinking I can fix this myself, I couldn't. Twenty years later and I'm still fighting my weight and decided enough was enough and this time I'm sticking with the program and going through with the surgery.
