Does anyone else out there have an actual allergy to milk? I don’t mean you are lactose intolerant. I mean a real allergy. I break out in a rash if I drink too much milk. This is causing a problem for my protein shakes. Most want you to mix with milk, whether it is 2%, whole, or skim. I can’t have any of it. I tried almond milk and coconut milk, but they were way too rich. I can drink the muscle milk because it has no milk in it. I’ve been experimenting with the Fairlife, but I’m not sure if it’s going to work or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for the info. I have no idea what causes my allergy. But I’ll try whatever it takes to find a solution.

Protein soup and vitamin patch
Shelbel replied to VSGSLAYER's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! Thanks for the info. I had no idea there was iron patches. I have been anemic all my life. I have a lot of trouble taking iron pills because they tear up my stomach and cause severe constipation. These patches are great. No stomach problems and no worrying they are messing with my other meds. -
Pre-op Diet. I keep slipping up :/
Shelbel replied to lovepink21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My diet says to do 2 protein shakes a day, with small snacks such as baby bel cheese, beef jerky etc. Then eat a small meal of high protein meats at night. This is only for 7 days. Then the day before surgery is an all clear liquid diet. I’m doing pretty well, but I get why you would cheat. If I had to be on this diet longer than 7 days, I’d probably cheat a time or two. Hang in there. All you can do is try your best. -
Just heard that I have been approved for surgery. I’m very excited. My surgery date has been scheduled for March 29.

We have resubmitted to my insurance. Spoke with bcbs today. It’s still under review.

Bcbs federal denied my claim. We’re appealing right now. I have a BMI of 35 and have comorbidities but they said they weren’t good enough. I think something didn’t get submitted correctly. We’ll see how it goes.

Loved your reply. A lot of my problem is my father and most of his siblings (he had 12) suffer from insulin dependent diabetes. I don’t want to end up like them. I am considered pre-diabetic, so I included that in my letter to the insurance company. I used a large list of comorbidities, explaining some were mine but some were family history. I’ve still got my fingers crossed, and am glad I don’t have a deductible to meet. Thank you all for your positive poats. I’ll keep you updated.

Thank you for your support. My pcp wrote a letter and sent more of my chart to my surgeons office. They jad me write a letter explaining my medical issues, how I’ve tried to lose weight, and my family history. Hopefully this will work. They make it easy to get frustrated. I’m determined to get bcbs to pay for this surgery.

I have bcbc federal and was just denied. I have a bmi of 35.8 with comorbidities. They said the comorbidities that was submitted were considered controllable. Not sure what the difference between contollable and uncontrollable is but I guess I’ll find out during my appeal. I have several comorbidities but I’m unsure which the doctors office used. I’ll try to keep you updated on my appeals process.

I have bcbs federal. My BMI is 35.8. They’ve denied me even though I have the 2 comorbidities they require. They stated my comorbidities were unqualifying because they could be controlled. I’m going to appeal and see where that gets me.
