I had a decaf latte made with low fat milk. Figured I'd get a little protein in with my coffee. I was about 4 weeks out when I had one. Took me a long time to get through it. I've been trying to incorporate more milk for both the calcium and protein. I knew I could stomach the milk bc I've been having my bariatric hot chocolate made with milk for the added benefits. August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Allie589 replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As hard as it had been to do this, I have not purchased a scale. I weigh in every few weeks at different doctor's appointments. It's kept me from getting obsessive, which I have done on the past. Sodium and PMS or even not enough protein or water can make such a difference with our weight. I'm trying not go get discouraged bc I'm almost 8 weeks out, down about 34 lbs (including liquid pre op), but my wedding ring is still tight?! Wtf?!!! I'm thinking I really need to up the water and dial down the sodium. Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 222 @ 7 weeks post op 5'7" GW: 150 -
I took phentermine as part of my zillion different tried to lose weight. It makes your heart race and scared me to death. You're doing great! Natural remedies for nausea?
Allie589 replied to gotime0810's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second peppermint tea. Honestly, marijuana works amazingly well for nausea, far better than zofran. I have to take a medication that shrinks a benign tumor in my brain and it makes me horribly nauseated. Medicinal marijuana works so well. You can get it without a lot THC so you won't get high just the medicinal support. Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 222 @ 7 weeks post op 5'7" GW: 150 -
At my 5 week post of apt and blood draw (with endocrinologist, not bariatric) my numbers looked so good that she took me off metformin! Yay! And that was only 5 weeks out! I am sweating less too. I'm down 30 and the difference is huge with feeling hot and sweaty. It's still there but definitely not as bad. Though I had normal range blood pressure, it did go down. The weight loss you'll have from surgery will definitely help with those health issues! 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 226 At 5 weeks post op GW: 150

My husband thought the cat pooped on our bed and then we realized it was my breath. Awesome. I'm 6 weeks out and he says it's much better. 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 226 At 5 weeks post op GW: 150

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Allie589 replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That totally happens to me to, especially with chicken, and I only eat it super moist. Sometimes I wonder if my esophagus is too tight from my hernia repair and I need to get it dilated. I'm nervous to go see my surgeon bc I think he will just say, "you're eating too fast or taking too big of bites." I am trying to be super conscientious with my eating so if I do need to go talk to him, I can be sure it isn't "user error." 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 226 At 5 weeks post op GW: 150 -

I think you look amazing!!!! Omg! You must feel so good too!! When my aunt lost 60lbs on Jenny Craig, she looked sickly to me but more in a vitamin deficient/full of artificial stuff and chemicals kind of way. She lacked color in her skin. You look vibrate and have color in your cheeks. And try not to shame yourself about the cupcake. Instead focus on how good it tasted and how awesome it is you only had one!! You look amazing! Same here! I've lost 30 so far, sleeved 8/7, and though my current size is big in legs and thighs, my pants seem to still fit in the tummy or super tight in the tummy a size down. I also feel that I'm super sensitive to salt now. Had some broth from a ramen place when I was out last week with some soft tofu, I swear the next day my stomach was even bigger! And my ring is super tight. 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 226 At 5 weeks post op GW: 150

August Sleevers-How are you doing??
Allie589 replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't weighed myself but I know I was in a stall for almost 2 weeks. Then, out of nowhere, I can't wear my pants! They fall off! Woohoo!!! I'm still struggling with feeling icky and not getting enough fluids. It's a bad cycle bc I don't want to eat or drink bc I feel icky but feel even worse if I don't eat or drink. I went to a really nice restaurant the other night and they were wonderful with helping me. I'm on soft foods right now so they made me a 4 ounce side of crab salad and half of avocado. Though I did get a little nauseated, after it passed, I felt like a million bucks! There's something to be said about real protein! I couldn't eat more than 1/3 but man, what I was able to eat made me feel so good! I had energy! Though I know this is the case if I eat, I still struggle daily. I'm going to call the bariatric nurse tomorrow and talk to her about what to do. 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 -
I waited a good 3 weeks post surgery. In addition to being so sore, I just didn't feel sexy with my lovely ketosis breath. I'll be 5 weeks out tomorrow and am now all good. Much happier husband!!! 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150

I'm 5 weeks out as of Monday and it has gotten much better to deal with food cravings. When I was on liquid and purees it was so much harder. Now that I can go to a restaurant and order a side of crab salad and an avocado, my life has changed!!!! Last night I went to a party and had a small plate of super finely chopped chicken, chewed super slowly and felt great. When I was on liquids and purees I would dream of food. Now that I'm more healed and more options are available, it's been much easier. Hang in there! Grant it I still have to take tiny bites and chew chew chew but being able to have more options has helped so much! 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150

Hiatal hernia & sleeve surgery. It's GOT to hurt worse?!
Allie589 replied to Aginn10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, that's where I struggle too, the swallowing and tightness and then being scared to sip water when eating. I'm almost 5 weeks out and am hoping the swelling in the esophagus will go down in the next couple weeks. My friend who had the sleeve but no hernia repair isn't having the same difficulties I am with the swallowing. 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 -
(So Cal Kaiser) drug testing
Allie589 replied to boysmom1109's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't have Kaiser but I was totally honest on my paperwork at the surgeons office. I use medical marijuana to alleviate the insane nausea I get from the medication I take for my prolactinoma (benign pituitary tumor). He never said anything and was approved no problem. I too have an Rx for it. 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 -
@littlelizzylilliput-you made my day!!! I can so relate bc, event though I have just started my journey, sleeved 8/7, I am already feeling better about myself and cannot wait to reconnect with old friends! I literally fell off the face of the earth socially bc I was so ashamed of how large I had gotten. Reading your post warmed my heart! I have been dealing with insomnia too! I'm 4 weeks out and it's still a problem. My incisions are pretty much healed and no more pain but the insomnia is driving me nuts. Tend to get super tired in the afternoons so I nap and then can't fall asleep at a normal time .[emoji20] 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150

Hiatal hernia & sleeve surgery. It's GOT to hurt worse?!
Allie589 replied to Aginn10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had both too. My hernia was massive-I had no idea! I thought the constant chest pains and tightness of breath was bc I was fat. Omg, guess I was wrong. I had a twin pregnancy go to full term with 7lb 5 ounce babies so I think that had something to do with it! According to UNC medical school website, the hiatal hernia repair healing period is about 6-8 weeks and sound just like our sleeve healing repair period. We may experience a little more tightness bc the esophagus is swollen. My surgeon said I may have more soreness bc of the repair but should be all good by 6-8 weeks out. Here's hoping! I'm 4 weeks out . 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 -
My cousin is a hairstylist and she raves and raves about monat. I haven't used it yet but I have really fine hair and she thought it would be perfect for me. I didn't tell her I had surgery, and probably won't, but I'll see what I can find out. I trust her completely with hair stuff and she cannot say enough about how fantastic monat is. 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150

Ok, how bad did this REALLY hurt??!
Allie589 replied to Aginn10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 24 hours are tough but the meds help tremendously. The hardest part for me was the getting in and out/up and down of beds/chairs/toilets. It feels kind of like you did 100,000 sit-ups. Compared to my c-section though, significantly less pain. As of yesterday, I'm 4 weeks out and all pain is totally gone. The pain was significantly better not even a full week out. I was off my pain meds a few days after surgery. Hope that helps! 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 -

Cross-fit anyone?
Allie589 replied to chamilton0323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried orange theory? It's much more cardio and light weight focused vs running around with a 50lb weight over your head. I love orange theory! Best bang for your exercise buck for an out of your time. My orthopedic surgeon said that cross fit keeps him in business 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150 -
Anyone have a hard time eating breakfast?
Allie589 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 weeks out and I can't even do water in the morning, I get so nauseated. I feel stuck too because I need more liquid. I can feel the lack of water. Maybe I'll go get some fresh mint and make tea with it. Once I'm up and around I can stomach a bariatric hot chocolate made with milk but it takes me about an hour, sometimes longer, to finish the 8 ounces. 5'7 Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 235 At 2 week post op GW: 150
