    Sleeve revision

Thanks Rick! My surgeon has been doing this for 13 years and has a great track record. About 3 mos after my VSG surgery he attempted to “burn” the Barrett’s but couldn’t because of the amount of bile reflux I have. He says the only was to correct the GERD is by doing a revision and then can take care of the Barrett’s. I’m trying to talk myself into it but am unsuccessful at this point.
  2. I had VSG in Aug 2017. Dr says I’ll need to have revision due to acid reflux/Barrett’s, etc......Does anyone know what the preop for revision surgery is? Do you still have to do 2 week liquid, etc.....? Just gathering info to make an informed decision. Thx!

Anyone do the hiatal hernia insurance route?

Insurance covered my sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. After I achieved and met the requirements it only took a few days for insurance to approve. Mine was BCBS.
  4. Thanks LittleLizzieLiliput! I understand what you're saying. congrats you're almost a year out!
  5. I'm 5 weeks post op and most things make me nauseous and I'm having trouble getting fluids in, can't stand protein drinks anymore, etc.... I know the less I drink the more nauseous I become. I'm not supposed to eat solids yet but knew I had to put something in so I tried peanut butter on toast and chewed very carefully. It took me 1-1/2 hr to eat the whole thing but afterwards I felt much better. Today I'm having deviled chicken with crackers.....just being super careful to chew chew chew! Trial and error!
  6. I can't speak for everyone else but me and my crew have evacuated Florida due to IRMA.
  7. I can't imagine being able to eat real food, lol! I took a bite of the chicken left over when I strained some soup but felt like it was stuck in my throats after chewing it for 5 mins......

Best exercise for front of thighs?

I feel your pain of having arthritis in knee. I'm grade 4 OA in my right knee. I can tell you that every pound that comes off makes it easier to walk and exercise. Keep it up!
  9. I had VSG and HH repair. The repair was worse than the sleeve. It made it difficult/uncomfortable to swallow. Dr said it would get better and now 3+weeks post op it did. I never had any real pain from the surgery and didn't need any pain mess.
  10. What kind of food did you transition to at 6 weeks?

    Purée Food

I can't drink plain water either so I use crystal light in mine. My fav is decaf ice tea with lemon flavor. I tried puréed soups already and they go down really good unlike plain broth which made me nauseous. I'm only getting one-two protein shakes in. When did anyone start their calcium chews?

    Purée Food

2 weeks 3 days post op. I'm hungry, just can't eat much..... the things I manage to get down aren't the healthiest but I have to eat something. I'm still drinking protein shakes 1-2 per day. Today I had 2-1/2oz mashed potatoes thinned with beef broth, approx 2-3 oz yogurt, strained hot/sour soup, crystal light decaf ice tea and water. Tomorrow I'm going to try puréed hot/sour soup, seems to be my craving. I've only lost 10 lb since surgery but my clothes are falling off. My total weight loss to date is 43 lbs.

    Anyone here in Florida??

I'm doing well, thanks for asking. Rough first week, nausea and not able to get the necessary hydration. Second week is much better, still supposed to be on full liquids but tried oatmeal this morning and it went down well. Can't wait to actually eat/chew something besides popsicles. How's it going for you?
