Just starting 2nd week post op and can have creamed soups........Hiw many ounces should I have?

I used premier protein shakes preop and they're very good. I'm one week post op and trying to get in clear protein is hard. Premier "clear" is awful but Atkins Lift isn't so bad. Today I started back on the full liquids.

I had surgery the 15th (sleeve and hiatal hernia repair) and haven't used any pain meds but lots of Zofran for nausea. I was concerned about gas in my back but got up and started walking as soon as I could....no gas pain! I have been extremely tired and have trouble getting the necessary fluids down. Dr said this is all normal and I'll be back to my self in no time! Best wishes for an easy surgery and speedy recovery. Keep us posted!

I too had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as my gastric sleeve. I think the hernia repair is what's causing most of my issues. I stay nauseous but everyday gets a little better. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Yes, similar to a contraction. It has the same feeling as when you drink a cold bottle of water very fast.....burning sensation. I worry I'm not getting enough fluids in, don't want to dehydrate.....I keep trying to sip, sip, sip.

My husband does the same thing, mixes chocolate with banana. I mix PBFit with vanilla but my favorite is Carmel. I'm three days post op so still on clear liquids only.

Danybx, I had to wait until the dr office had everything required before they submit to insurance. Talk to the insurance coordinator at your dr office.

Wow, that's different. My preop had me drinking three premier proteins per day but not for the first week post op. For that I have premier clear protein and Atkins lift.

I'm two days post op. Have you tried gas x? A possible side effect of zofran is headache. I'm still nauseous and having a hard time drinking but sip, sip, sip. Hopefully we'll get there soon......

Congratulations! I too had surgery Aug 15th. Havent had pain to speak of just very sore but I have had a lot of nausea. My insurance wouldn't pay for Zofran so I had to buy it out of pocket. Something is wrong when insurance will pay for narcotic pain killers but not antinausea meds.

Insurance sucks! Can't go without it and they know it! My BCBS paid for my surgery after I met the requirements but wouldn't pay for any of the office visits to the surgeon, PA or dietician. So for 7-1/2 months I was out of pocket. The dumbest thing they did was, paid for narcotic pain killers after surgery but not for anti nausea meds. Makes no sense to me! ok, rant over!

Costco doesn't have it in store but you can order it online. Walmart also has it but more expensive $7.27/4pack. im now post op and I found Atkins Lyft and Premier protein clear. Both have 20g protein but I'm diluting it with water cause it's just too sweet for my taste buds.

Thank you truly Kendra! I'm now postop for two days. I had to stay one night in hospital and was able to meet the hydration goals set by the bariatric team. Sip, sip, sip! I have had no real pain but am very sore. hope you're still doing well with the preop diet.

I'm one day post op and had to try to get 48oz of liquid. I did fine as long as it water. I tried chicken broth and got so nauseous. Guess I'll try the clear protein drinks tomorrow. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

That's awesome! I put PBfit in a vanilla Premier protein shake with ice and it's very good. Variety is the key......

I live in Central Fl and my sleeve surgery is Tuesday, Aug 15. I only had to do a one week liquid diet because I exceeded my preop weight loss expectation. I lost 26lbs before starting the liquids. I love the Premier Carmel flavored shakes. I've been doing popsicles, broth, jello and crystal light flavored water for six days now. I have to urge to crunch or chew something so think I'm going to eat some ice to squish the urge. Yesterday was the worst after drinking the magnesium citrate. It made me nauseous so I took a zofran and stayed close to the bathroom, lol! Best wishes to my fellow Floridians on getting through the liquid diet without cheating and your upcoming surgery!

The cheapest place I've found is Costco/Sams/BJs for the Premier shakes. Costco is the only place I can find my favorite flavor-Carmel- in an 18 pack. I've already been doing 2 shakes per day and eat one low carb meal for the past month. My dr requires 2 week liquid diet but my pre op weight loss has exceeded my goal so I only have to do one week. I'm currently on day 4, surgery in 4 days........

I'm scheduled for Aug 16th, which is Tuesday so I'm almost there! The liquid diet isn't too bad but still have the urge to crunch something! Mostly missing salads.
