Hello everyone! First of all, let me say....I LOVE THIS FORUM!!!! Ok, with that being said, I wanted to know how long people were out of work after surgery? I am having my surgery on March 31st..this coming monday!!!! YEAH!!! I wanted to see how long I will be in pain? I own a daycare and I want to get back to work as soon as I feel better, since I don't have to do heavy lifting or anything. ( I have a helper for that) I just don't want to have to keep my mind wondering with just sitting here without anything to do, so I want to get back to work ASAP. How long were you out for, how much pain were you in? Also, how long did the surgery last? I never asked that question! I asked everything else, but not that! So, can anyone answer that? Thank you!

Hello guys! I just need to have someone to talk to. Today is a low day, actually the past few weeks have been low. I have been doing really bad on this diet roller coaster that I am on. I haven't yet had my first fill and I feel like I am a failure. I am eating the way that I did before the surgery and I am hating it! I don't feel any different then I did before I had the band placed. I went for my 6 week check up and I actually gained 4 pds. I have lost 1 pd of the 4 but I think that its just because I have lost Water weight. My first fill isn't until June 9th and I feel like I am starting to slip into a deep depression. I often think, what the heck did I do this for, I don't feel any different! Last night I actually signed up for weight watchers online! Then I cried thinking, ok I just went through all this pain of the surgery for what? To sign up for weight watchers! UGH! I just need someone to tell me that they have been were I am right now and things will get better. I am so friggen frustrated! I have lost weight but most of it was before the surgery and right after, since a week or so after the surgery I haven't lost a thing...NOTHING! UGH PLEASE HELP GUYS, I Need you now! Thank you:confused2:

Even though I know that this is a tough time, I really need some encouragement to get me through until I get my first fill. I WANT THAT RESTRICTION BACK! Please anyone that can give me some words of advice I would really appreciate it! Thank you! Heidi

:sad:Hello everyone! I got on the scale this morning because I was feeling kind of bloated in the past few days. I have gained 4 pds! I know that "my monthly Friend" will be starting soon. Does this effect my weight loss? I think I usually do gain during that time however, I don't think that its going to start until later next week. So, I don't know if that IS it or not? I have never felt this bloated before! Should I be worried or is this normal? I have been able to eat more ( I am almost 4 weeks post op) and I haven't had a problem at all with any food...IS this normal? Should I feel some sort of restriction? OH boy am I kind of depressed about this weight gain! Can you guys help! Thank you

Hello All, Ok so this is week 3. I have been on blended food for a week now. As of last week I haven't lost anything. I feel like I could eat anything! I don't feel full when I am eating little. I feel like I could eat more then I am. However, I don't want to pig out. I am just wondering is this normal. I don't feel any restriction at all, as I did in the first 2 weeks. I'm a little discouraged! In the back of my mind, I feel that this has to be normal, but I still worry. Am I going to stop loosing until I get a fill? If that is the case, I don't go back to my DR. until four weeks and then he will tell me if I need a fill. But, I wont get it on that day, I will have to have another appointment for the fill. So, I'm looking at another 6 weeks before I get my first fill. I'm a little sad about this! I want to keep losing until I get the fill, but I'm not sure I will be able to do that. Can you guys give me your experiences and what you did in order NOT to gain weight before your first fill. I'm really scared!!! PLEASE help!

Hello there, I had my surgery on March 31st, I was on clear liquid for 4 days, then on full liquid and then I am suposed to move on to blenderized food which I thought was yesterday. However, I went to my sisters house last night and they had chicken on the bbq. with mashed potatoes. I put the chicken in the blender and blended it up with honey Teriyakito make it smooth. I had 1 oz of the chicken and 1 oz of the mashed potato. I was full after eating just that.I came home and read in the hand out that my doctor had given me that I wasn't suposed to start the blenderized until MONDAY! I started it 2 days before I was suposed to and now I am worried. Should I be? I tried to get in touch with my doctor, but they aren't in the office today. I don't know what to do...can someone help me please?

Help with Blenderized food is this ok...
heidismiles posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone, I am starting to plan my blenderized diet and I wanted to get your oppinion on things. I went to the store today and bought some fish, like sole, cod and I also bought some king crab legs. From what I gather these things are ok to have on the blenderized diet right? As long as they are easy to mush with a fork, right? Also, I bought mashed potato, summer squash and zucchini, cottage cheese, yogurt, chicken. These things are all ok right? Another question, when I do make this stuff, do I have to put everything in the blender so its soft or can I just cook the broil the fish and eat it like that. I know the chicken will have to be blended, but what about the fish and like the roasted summer squash and zucchini? Sorry guys, but I offically start the blenderized diet tomorrow. So, I want to know before I start eating that stuff. All of your help will be great! Thank you!:confused2: -
A somewhat difficult question about...diarrhea.
heidismiles replied to Cheryl Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! I am 12 days post op and I had the same problem. I have it every now and then too. I think it has to do with the amount of sugar that is in the shake. BECAUSE, I was drinking kirkland weight loss shakes from Costco and they had 38 grams and then I switched to drinking protien powder with skim milk and the protien powder only had 1 gram of sugar and its seemed to slow down. Even to a stop now, its just soft stuff now..no more watery. I don't know if this helps, but maybe you could try a different shake and see if that does anything, if so...then we got our answer! -

Please help me find a shake that tastes good.
heidismiles replied to SydneyLouWho's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get my protien shakes from my gym. I have a great whey protien shake that I love. Its chocolate/mint. ITS SO YUMMY! I sometimes add a tablespoon of no sugar added frozen yogurt. But its good with just ff milk and two icecubes blended. I just bought another kind cookies and cream, thats awsome too. They have other kids like, rocky road, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla. Here is the website that I order off from BODYTECH! - BodyTech.com I think I ordered 2pds of it for 25 dollars. Make sure you order the ones in the black container. Thats the only one I order so I know that tastes good. Hope this helps! -

Hello everyone, this might be to much information for you, but I need to know if anyone else had this happen. I am 6 days out and I started on my full liquids yesterday morning. Every since I have started eating full liquids, I have spent a LOT of time in the bathroom! Peeing yes, but almost every time I go pee I go the other way too. Needless to say my bum is starting to hurt. Is this normal? Please let me know..sorry if it was to much for some. Thanks Heidi:confused2: -
Liquids - How Much How Soon?
heidismiles replied to ErikMesa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my, I was so going to post this same question. It seems to be a trend because I too was banded on Monday! We are on the loser side of the bench! CONGRATS. So, I noticed today that I can drink faster and more of the clear liquid however, I still can't eat that much. Like for lunch I had cream soup and I ate about 6 teaspoons. Then I was full. Then I had some yogurt and I could eat about 1/2 cup. So, I guess that the drinking is normal. I also have been told to wait 30 minutes before and after eating to drink, but I dont know if that is now or after I start the blenderized food. Can anyone answer that? -

oh congrats! Its so exciting to know that you are aproved. I just had my surgery on Monday and I am so glad that I did it. Its hard to do the pre op diet and post op diet but I have been losing since I started the pre-op diet and I continue to lose on a daily basis. I know that it will slow down soon, but I am loving it! -
Hello all, so today is day # 4 since I got banded. I'm not sure if what I am feeling is normal or not. I haven't really been getting all the water that I should be getting in. I'm feeling like it hurts a little to drink. Like when I do drink, it feels like it just sits in my chest. IS that normal? So far today I have only gotten in maybe 18 oz of water in me. I have eaten some soup broth and some jello. But, still I feel like I am pushing myself to eat that. It almost feels like something is sitting on my chest. Also, when I get up I still feel a little dizzy. I cant take what they gave me for it because I get sick on it. My stomach still feels really bad. I know that it has only been 4 days, but, I am wondering how long It will be until I stop feeling this pressure and is it normal? Does anyone else know what I am talking about? One more question, I have to be on clear liquids for 4 days, does that count my surgery day? PLEASE HELP! Ok, so maybe more then 1 more question. I have a few more...I got on the scale and it said that I gained 2 pds! Im guessing this is from all the liquid they gave me during surgery and after? How long does it take to get rid of this weight gain?
-
Hello all, OK so I am so ashamed of myself. I have been on this pre-op diet which is full liquids for 10 days. I am on day seven and I cheated! I was feeling so sick tonight that I ate a sandwich and a piece of chocolate. So far I have lost 12 pds on this diet, which is so hard to do. I have been eating nothing but soups, crytal light, diet shakes, protien shakes. After I ate something, I didn't feel sick to my stomach anymore, but now I feel like what the hell did I just do? I guess this is what I was thinking, I have surgery on Monday the 31st. Which I wont do anymore food I will stick to the liquids until the surgery, then after the surgery my doctor puts me on a clear liquid for 4 days, then this full liquid for 10 more days, then blenderized food for 2 weeks, then soft food for another 2 weeks, then I can start eating small amounts of healthy food. When I thought about it, I was like wow I'm not going to be able to eat REAL food for over 5 weeks. That scared me I guess, so I did it, I ate something other then full liquid and now I am scared its going to screw things up for the surgery!! Has anyone else done this? Please be honest, I am so scared right now!! Please help!

Great 2 oz cups for food
heidismiles replied to AZnikki's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there, I will have to get those cups! I have some here, but I didn't know that walmart sold them. Also, I sell Tastefully simple ( which I wont be eating for a while) anyway, in my supplies that I need for parties, I have those spoons! If you need any let me know...I can get you a bunch of them for real cheap....let me go see how much they are. Oh my, I just saw the 2 oz cups 250 cups for $3.60 and I can buy the lids that go with it for travel and the spoons are 500 pack for 4.75 so....that sounds like a good deal? Let me know if you want me to help you out? Or anyone else reading this! -
