    3 hour Psych Appt???

I have mine set for 2 Jun and the nurse told me to plan on all day. I will have to take some kind of personality test and meet with the Dr. It might be fun to mess with her mind a little...heh heh
  2. My list for full liquids is: Skim milk, thinned cream of wheat or cream of rice made with skim milk, tomato or V8 juice (no "Splash"), no sugar added carnation instant breakfasts made with double strength skim milk (double strength skim milk= 8 oz. Skim milk w/ 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk powder.) Hope this helps ~Irish76 (and daughter):cursing:
  3. MollyMolly Where do you get the Kashishakes???
  4. Freedom 2008 Thanks for sharing your experience. I won't be banded for several months so really can't say anything on that subject. However, having had 5 abdominal surgeries in my time....getting up and walking as soon as humanly possible even if it hurts is really the best thing that one can do to help the recovery process.
  5. I am in Bettendorf. Am going through Genesis East. According to the tentative schedule I will probably get banded in Aug 08. Genesis has a support group for bandsters, and bypass---they encourage newbies to attend any or all of the meetings.

    east moline

Hello Fellow Quad Citians, I am in Bettendorf. I am working with Genesis for my banding. They started doing the Lapband in Dec 07. So far I have been to the seminar, seen the Nurse and seen the Nut both in group and one-on-one. May is going to be slow since I can't do anything until I see the Psych in June. Genesseo, am going to The Cellar tonight for our anniversary--my favorite place in the QCA. Already know what I will order and my order will include a doggie bag delivered with dinner.

    Stuff you Need at Home

Thank you so much! I have just started the process but have been wondering what I should pick up and have handy for the BIG day (and the days after).
  8. I see my Nutritionist next week so will know more then. During my initial visit with the Nurse, she said that they want 2 weeks of low carb/hi protein prior to surgery. This is to make the liver "floppier" so that they can easily move it out of the way during surgery. Steaks & shrimp for 2 weeks prior to surgery, I can do that.
  9. Mandilou You mention BCBS, can I ask what plan? What State? I am new to all of this and have my first appt on Wed 9 Apr. I suspect that I will have to do 6 mos too b/c I have Federal BCBS. It doesn't make sense to me, I have tried all my life to lose and they are paying a bundle for my cardiologist & my GP not to mention all the meds and medical equipment (CPAP and blood glucose reader/strips)---seems that they would want to pay the $$ upfront and forget about the other expenses eventually.

    Soda - Is this dumb?

SanDiegoPhotog You crack me up. You sound just like me. When I heard no pop (soda) I seriously put down the surgery literature for a few weeks. They can have the gum, milkshakes, the sweets and all that but don't take my diet Cola (either Pepsi or Coke). But I came back and have my appts set up starting 9 Apr. I decided that I could give up the diet colas for the surgery if it'll make me have to take less medicines. I carry a bottle of Water everywhere I go anyway and I drink lots of water (even with my large consumption of pop) so I am slowing phasing out the pop. But if anyone owns stock in those companies you will see a drastic drop in revenues--sorry about that. But I hope to have more $$ in MY pocket.:crying:
  11. I appreciate the spoon ideaand the little cup idea too. We have a rest. supply store, I am going to look there. thanks!

    Need Help with protein shake.

Has anyone tried the Special K Protein Powder that you just add to water? I saw it in Walgreen's and the clerk said that it was tasty. But I am just not sure...

    Feeling Guilty!!

JadensMomma. When I first started looking into the surgery my family extended family said that they weren't behind me because it is too drastic a move. They said that I just don't try hard enough and that if I put my mind to it I could lose it by myself. Well, I thought about that for 2 months as I dieted and gained. So, I have made the appt to start the process and feel that a huge weight is off my shoulders (not hips, thighs, belly, arms or anyplace else though :scared2:). I am very grateful to this site for helping me along...everyone is great. Hang in there with us, we'll all get through it. Keep us posted.

  15. Hi! I am just starting my lapband weight loss journey. I have been thinking about it for several years and I'm finally doing it. My first consult is 9 April. I am nervous, scared and yet thrilled to have finally taken the plunge. I really love this site, it has answered so many questions and I am convinced that I have made the right decision.
  16. OK, I am being dumb here---where is edit signature????
