I had IBS-d prior to my surgery on 8/9, I did have problems with constipation after and took miralax daily for about 6 weeks. I have had no further issues and do not miss the awful cramping and bloating, feel great now.

I had a steak salad at 8 weeks. I tried them separately, to see how I tolerated it and had no issues. I was sleeved on 8/9. Lots of chewing, but was a joyful experience. I've also found that Greek dressing is very low in sugar and is now my favorite with all my salads. It also helps me reach my calorie goal of 1000.

12 weeks post-op: Pain Meds
LauraAnn68 replied to Pauliegroup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been battling synovitis of my knee since one week post op. Normal course of treatment is oral steroids and NSAIDS. My surgeon said no to every anti inflammatory med. I waited until week 6, when he was finally ok with a cortisone injection. He felt very strongly about the increased risk of a GI bleed with the new sleeve. I'm now 10 weeks out and still have swelling, just doing PT now. I've really missed my Motrin! -
No problems with pickles....

How many calories do you eat per day?
LauraAnn68 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I still get full after 2 ounces of protein. I am trying to eat every 2-3 hours, but I'm a nurse, at times, I don't have time to pee, let alone eat....it's much easier to reach my protein goal with food on my days off, but I still do one protein shake a day. -
How many calories do you eat per day?
LauraAnn68 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just had my 6 week follow up, and was told by my surgeon to be between 800-1000 per day, any lower and weight loss will be slower, due to the body being thrown into starvation mode. My nutritionist said not to be to obsessed by calories, but to try and get in 80 gms of protein a day. I've been logging everything I eat and I have found it's hard to get 80 gms of protein a day with just food. I've had to go back to adding a second premier protein drink in to reach it. -

Air Fryer Goodbye Fried Foods
LauraAnn68 replied to SleeveDreamer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still can't eat, as my surgery was 8/9 and I'm on purées still, but I've used my air fryer a ton for feeding my kids. I love it and they do too. I've cooked everything in it vegetables, chicken, fish and they said it made an amazing grilled cheese. It's so much quicker, not having to wait for the oven to pre heat and clean up is a breeze. -
When did you weigh yourself for the first time Post-Op?

Post Bariatric Barium Test
LauraAnn68 replied to Excited to lose!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have the barium test and was released the next afternoon. I was told, they thoroughly check for any leak prior to closing. -
My surgery was 8/9, and I'm still on liquids until 8/30, then on to puree....I am down 21 lbs so far but, have had a setback with a knee injury. Damn squats... strained my MCL. Worse part is I can't take any anti inflammatory medication. I'm using my left over pain meds to help, but worried this inactivity will slow down progress. Is everyone one else exercising daily yet?

I wish I had ear plugs, I was right next to the nurses station and it was pretty loud...

My nurses gave me IV pain meds around the clock the first day. Second day I was put on liquid pain medication. This managed the pain well, but the key was walking. I had to walk once every hour when I was awake. Pain was completely gone by day #5. Surgery was also 8/9....Good luck!

Best Food Tracker App?
LauraAnn68 replied to NeaZoi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist recommended fat secret, it gives you a nice breakdown on macros and nutrients. -
In the hospital overnight and follow up was 2 weeks after, which for me is tomorrow .

My preop diet was 3 protein shakes a day along with clear liquids. I'd check with your nutritionist and see what they recommend. Clear liquids are generally just 24 hr preop.

Sleeved on 8/9, no pain after day 6, which is when I resumed my side sleeping position.

How bad are the scars ?
LauraAnn68 replied to nursejackie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery 8/9, I have 5 1/2 inch incisions. They look great and only look like scratches on my abdomen. My dr just used steri strips and those started coming off on day 6. Couldn't be happier! -
Good luck tomorrow, I'm on day 11 now, still adjusting to my liquid diet....

VSG Post-Op Food - 3 Weeks Out
LauraAnn68 replied to NeaZoi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was instructed to do one week clears, 2 week full liquids, before progressing to puree, where scrambled eggs are ok. Funny how so many have different post op diets. -
The only store by me that had them was Walgreens, my friend went to numerous stores before she found them, so maybe call ahead!
