One week post-op and hungry!
allwet replied to Darin'Sharon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Head hunger and habit is what you are dealing with. Its the mental part of the post surgery process that you will need time to adjust to. There are also studies that show people feel hungry at scheduled times because thats when they always ate. We are creatures of habit and it can cause you plenty of problems post op. Try to stay busy and keep your mind occupied and it will pass with time. -
August Sleevers-How are you doing??

meds can really throw a curve ball into this process. I will suggest some things but even if you do them all the meds may negate everything. cant say for certain . 1. stay hydrated 2. no added sugars - get your total sugar intake to less than 20g if you can 3. no simple carbs - carbs are just chains of sugar hooked together. 4. complex carbs from your veggies - while stalled no fruit 5. hit your protein goal 6. no snacks after dinner NONE get at least 12 hrs from last calorie in to first calorie in the next day - longer if you can never eat when not hungry - try not to rush to eat just cause felt the hunger this instant. being hungry is normal from an evolutionary standpoint. your body responds by burning stored fat when it needs some energy. Always being full results in no fat burn needed. that does not in anyway mean starvation. we are talking hours not days. nobody starves cause they waited to finish a task before they went to lunch. take your supplements walk, walk, walk if nothing else just walk - walking is about so much more than calories burnt. get your body moving and keep it moving. good things will come. good luck - i hope something here helps -
no there is just a huge range of reactions after surgery. some people take a lot longer to get over the surgery and have there new sleeves settle down for them. people at the extremes tend to post more cause they need the reassurance that this to will pass. Those that have no issues tend to lurk and watch a bit more and post less

welcome Jimbo glad to see another male around here. Not really sure why but this surgery tends to run more females than males. Most likely the higher pressure society puts on women to be slim while men just seem to get away with fat easier. Well welcome anyway, The next weeks could be tough on you but hang in there and it will be worth it in the end.

August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Just couldn't help myself. I knew i was riding the line from obese to overweight and had to weigh myself again. moment of weakness or vanity whatever. Just plain ole overweight as of today. -
finding someone that cares for you starts by caring for yourself. dump him and work on learning to like and accept yourself. When you like who you are you will find someone. the kind of man that is attracted to insecurity and self doubt is the kind that wants to own a person not partner and support a person. please love yourself enough to walk away from this train wreck in the making.

A 1% chance of that kinda outcome vs. 100% chance that the excess weight will steal the rest of your life from you one pound at a time. Do not let others dictate how the rest of your life will be lived.

wow i am going straight out to the end of the pier and jumping in the deep end here. any man that says that to a women is no man you need to be with. insecure, controlling and not what you need in your life right now. drop him yesterday ok all done good luck

cut out the added sugars and simple carbs - bread, chips get that protein in more veggies and leafy greens less anything from center of store - more from the 3 walls - fruits and veggie - meats- dairy i am sure you know the routine. no snacking after dinner -12 hrs from last calorie in before first calorie of the day. good luck and welcome back -
Stop eating when full?
allwet replied to JitterbugPerfume's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jitterbug you are so early in your ws journey i would not worry about eating to little food. try to hit your water goal try to hit your protein goal take your vitamins as directed note these are goals, you may need time to reach that goal. in the coming months you will begin to eat more food but dont worry about it now. -
4-5 hundred - and carbs were under 50 grams but thats just me - very carb adverse cause they were my addiction

I wish I never had this done...help!
allwet replied to ~Primrose~'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I truly am so sorry you have had this outcome. I wish i could offer words to help but i can't. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope you begin the healing process soon. -
no you are not doing anything wrong. a pound a day is simply not possible for any length of time. i also lost 30+ my first month then 8-10 per month since. A slowing is natural and healthy. Dont weigh everyday it just messes with your mind. pick a day of the week (same day as surgery or a weekend) and weigh in just once per week to take the emotional pressure off. It can take a while to relearn the full signals from your brain. If you know you will hurt at 4 bites then stop at 3. and yes slower is way better. Try to enjoy the journey you have started and look for NSV (non scale victory) in your life - getting off meds - smaller cloths - mobility -

grats and i hope you have a smooth first few weeks. keep up the walking it helps a lot with the gas and get those fluids in. dehydration is big issue.
-
Well not the greatest start to my day, only down 1.5 pounds and missed the crossover from obese to overweight. So another week i guess. Well at least its down even if slower than i would like.
Tuesday is nine full months and some days it feels like a blink and others like 9 years.
got to get some coffee in me, to dam early in the morning for coherent thought.
enjoy your weekend

please read thru I'm starving post about 6-7 post under this one. I know it seems impossible but it really is a small part of the rest of your life. most everything post op is a mental game. the sleeve will do its part and you need these weeks to learn your part. It sucks it really does and eating was always so much of our lives and now a huge hole in our 24 hour day that needs filling. distract, distract, distract. try to stay busy and stay away for T.V. to many food reminders. start a new hobby, binge watch everything on netflix (except cooking shows lol) just keep occupied till its over. and every surgeon uses a different plan and a different timeline and every person reacts differently to the stages as they progress it is very different for each person. We all do this together but at a slightly different pace.

yep, special little bottle they gave me.

Average weight loss per week
allwet replied to linita's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Depends on how much of that 200 pounds is excess weight. how tall are you? what should you weigh for your height? you can lose 50 to 100 percent of excess weight depends on your medical condition and your determination to stick to plan for as much as 2 years. It varies by a wide margin the average weight loss of 60 percent of excess weight means half lose less than 60 percent but the others do better. No way for me or anyone else to know what side of average you will land on. i will say it is worth it. The weight will steal your very life from you pound by pound. -
Can be , Might be, depends (not those depends) This has so much individual variability. everyone heals from surgery at a different pace and since your surgeon cant know how you will heal in advance his plan is designed to "do no harm". It can be a tough few weeks but it is really a very small amount of time in the rest of your life. just stay to plan and "do no harm"

Surgery Complete! Need some recipe suggestions!

Your right your crazy - Just kidding We are all crazy we let a total stranger do a crazy, amazing and terrify thing to us and now your body is trying to figure out which way is up, in a manner of speaking. take this time to learn the difference between head hunger - the habit of eating and the hormonal change of the lack of carbs and sugars crashing thru your system at all hours of the day. This process will play out over the next couple of weeks. It is normal to feel hungry, not just now or at this moment but in human history. we are supposed to get hungry. That is the time when your body calls on the stored fat (anyone here got some of that) to provide energy. It is not Natural to be full try to get used to a more natural hormonal reaction to eating then getting hungry a few hours later and then after a bit of that hunger we eat a small meal again then start over. Dam even i cant make sense of any of that i wrote - just know food will feel different and you will feel different just take the time to get to know those feelings now and dont go at them with your old mind set.

yea got the saggy skin at this point and increasing as my gut has finally started to catch up with the rest of my body shrinking. I like DR.V'S take on saggy skin " you have to get there to earn the saggy skin" so i carry it with pride cause it means i "got there" -
