Hey mallorie, Congrats on going to Dr Morton..he is awesome! Call and ask Shauna (his assistant) who she recommends or if she can do it. She is a nutritionalist I think...They have answers to everything there...I think. They probably can tell you which step to take next! Good luck and keep us updated!

Some drs don't reccomend that...but mine thinks it is important b/c your first 6 months to a year is the ideal weightloss time. I pushed for the fills b/c my insurance paid 100% of my adjustments for the first 3 months. But I think it was the best thing I could of done. Up until my 3rd fill i didn't feel any restriction what so ever and then really didn't get the feelings that everyone on here was explaining until the 4th fill. I really think you need another fill...ofcourse I am not a doctor..but just speaking from experience. Good luck, and let me know what you decide!

Reeiz, Hey welcome to the thread! I think you need another fill...you should not be able to drink while eating...or atleast thats my experience. But congrats on the 37.39 lost thats great!! Good luck and keep us updated!

Hey...Have you cheked into Dr MOrton in Nashville. I had my meeting with him on Jan 3rd, and his office had my surgery approved and scheduled within 2 weeks. My surgery was on Feb. 20th. He has done 800 bands and is a proctor of the band, which means he teaches other Dr.s how to do the band surgery. If you are interested the website is southernbariatricsolutions.com Good luck

I had the absolute worst day with the band yesterday. I ate a quesdilla from Taco Bell (not a good choice, but it was quick)...I ate like only bites and felt like I was going to die. This lasted for like 4 hours. I threw up like 5 times and felt like I was choking and my chest was hurting so bad. It was awful. Luckily it all stopped before the Kenny Chesney concert last night... I thought I was going to have to call my doc. I wonder why that happened? I have eaten those several times before..and I have pbd before but not like this. It was infront of a bunch of girls that i went to college with and only 2 knew that I had the band. They were really worried. So i guess that it is liquids for 48 hours for me. I find that Wendy's plain baked potato with a little sour cream goes down ok...not a great selection all the time but it does go down well..and it fills me up. and its cheap! Hope everyone is doing well.... YEAH for me..I hit the 150's today!!!!! Ok well its 159...but it is stillthe 150s!!!!!

congrats on your band Cyndee. I think you find it was the best thing you have ever done for yourself. Good luck, and let me know if you need anything. I am always happy to help!

Hey guys...wow everyone is doing so well!!! Well....I have lost 50 pounds and I have like 35 more to go. I will be jumping for joy if I lose 20 more but 35 would be awesome! I am doing really well with the change now...after I realized that I can't eat bread. I have tried to eat it and it makes me choke and throw up everytime...I FINALLY HAVE COME TO TERMS....NO MORE BREAD!!!!!! Now everything is good...and I am ok with it. I still get carbs..from potatoes and rice, but no gooy bread that I loved so much!!! Keep up the good work everyone!

Low BMI bandsters feedback please!
skbishop78 replied to sandeee_77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel the same way...my doc has slowed down on the fills b/c I am at a good restriction..but I am so glad they didn't judge me b/c of the lower bmi. I had alot of fills at the beginning...and I think it really helped. But everyone is different! -
Low BMI bandsters feedback please!

Hey, I had a bmi of 35 when banded. My insurance paid for it believe it or not, but I have lost 45 pounds as of today, and don't regret a thing! I do however, when I am eating get pissy b/c I can't have the old food I love! BUT...that is the beauty of the band! You just know that if you eat that nice looking doughy peice of bread...that its going to get stuck and then you won't enjoy the rest of your meal.....so you don't eat it! The band does its part, as long as I do mine! I want to lose about 40 more pounds...but I have had great progess and don't regret it at all. I just got banded in Feb. so I still am pretty new, but my experience has been a pretty good one! -
Hey guys WOW Dancer you look great! I have been wondering where everyone is?!?!? Has JanetC abandoned us? I know life gets in the way..it does for me all the time. I am stuck at 166..not complaining...just stuck! It is frustrating to loose so fast and then be stuck here for weeks! UGH! Hope everyone is doing wonerful!
-
Donna, hate to hear what you have been going through....YUCK!!! Thanks for the advice though! You need to treat yourself to a pedicure or something. You've had it rough! Sunta, I have not had that feeling...but I doubt your band has slipped. have you thrown up alot?? My doc said that it is really uncommon with today's technology and our now educated patients for bands to slip..he has only had like 5 in 6 years and 800 bands. BUT...I would go get it checked out! IF you can feel your food plopping to your lower stomach it doesn't sound right...I would ask your doc when you go for a fill! Hope it gets better.

Where is everyone?

I eat about a cup of food at each sitting. sometimes I eat more...sometimes i eat less. I lose a bunch one week, and then don't for like a week or 2.....I read someone else did that....it sucks! I am proud of my weightloss though...I am happy with it. not complaining...well ok a little..i jsut hate losing and then all of a sudden not losing. ugh....hope veryone is having a good week!

I have lost 14 lbs...woo-hoo, however, I am sooooo hungry!!! I feel like I could eat a horse. I am excited, and everyone is trying hard to keep me on track!! I have alot of support at home, and at work. I was impressed that Michael (DH) actually read my whole diet plan for before and after surgery. It has been his first interest in my surgery so far. It made me feel good that he took interest in it, as long as he doesn't become a DR overnight and try to correct what I am doing, because he read my papers.

Hey Julie I am right under 5'4! I have lost alot of weight here lately since my last fill....I am not pbing much at all...had a couple of episodes but not bad....I actually feel it more now than ever...I can't tolerate breads at all...which is what I wanted..it is such my weak spot. I can eat a baked potato but not any kind of doughy bread...which I LOVE!!! but my belly loves it to, b/c it holds on to it! I am so sorry to hear of your pbing..I have 2 incidents like that where I thought I was dying....My 3 year old daughter ran out and got my husband from mowing...she was scared to death. It is so unexplainable to people that don't have a band. It is not like throwing up...you feel like you are choking...or atleast I did. I hate that for ya hun....hopefully better days are coming....

I asked my doc about the whole straw thing because I read somewhere on here that we couldn't use them...and he laughed at me..course I ask him the craziest "what if" questions you could think of. He always just smiles and says...no Stacey its fine! But he said the straws should never cause a problem.

OMG!!! Was this a waste of money???
skbishop78 replied to medussa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey..I know that everyone is saying this is normal...and it is so I won't beat a dead horse. I just wanted you to know that I had to have about 3 fills before filling my restriction. Now..after 5 fills I have the ultimate restriction and am losing beautifully. I was exactly like you..I think I ate a 1/2 of bag of baked cheetos like 5 days after surgery. I thought I had wasted my money as well. I am now down 43 pounds...It works...give it time! Good luck! -
Sounds like everyone is getting approved and ready to go.....good luck everyone! I have lost 43 pounds since Feb with the surgery, and have to say its the best thing I have ever done for myself!!! Good Luck! Oh by hte way I am in Nashville!

Hey guys...been gone for a while. Life just gets in the way sometimes...uhg! That pain in my sdie that I talked about for months now has gotten much worse!! I went to my OBGYN and she said that she thinks it is endometriosis (i battle with that anyway) pulling from an ovary to another part of my body..like my bladder or bowels. It is hurting pretty bad! Good news is that I am down to 167!! I am not totally uncomfortable in a bathing suit, but still feel naked and insecure!!! Will that ever go away I wonder? Talk to ya'll later!

Hey all Happy Tuesday!! Hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend. I visited family in KY so I had a great time. Now its back to work...I am ready for another long weekend......ugh...... NSV: I went to the pool and took off my shirt and got in with my daughter yesterday...INFRONT of my husband...who I never get naked in front of...( I feel naked in a bathing suit...it is the same fear for me..being naked and being in a swim suit..all the same!) Sounds like everyone is doing great. I am soooooo proud of all of us..we all need a pat on the back! :high5: or a high five...couldn't find a pat on the back. hehe!
