I am a newbie, and was banded on Monday of last week, but I can honestly say it gets better. The pain of the surgery wasn't bad for me it was the GAS...and still is a little. Don't worry, it will get better!!! YOu have tons of people on here that are proof of it!! HAng in there!

Yeah..well he gave me a diet and I had stuck to it to a tee...but my daughter had baked cheetos (which is sooooo not on the list of things I can eat) and I just started shoveling them in. By the time I finally stopped myself I had eaten most of her bag (grab bag size) and now I feel awful for doing it. I am going to be so much better, I gave in to a very weak moment. I have really been beating myself up over it. I just feel so hungry and I think the carb cravings have really taken over today. Do you think I have ruined anything by my 1 mistake today? Gosh I hope not, I can't go back in and get it done again....or atleast I don't want to!!!!

Just banded and here's what's happening

I hope you feel better soon. I have had the exact opposite problems. I have sped through the liquids, Soups and stuff and now can eat noodles and I think pretty much whatever..I feel like my band is not working at all. I really hate it that you are not feeling well. The gas pains suck. I would bend at the waist and back up again several times and burps would come up. Its like burping a baby I guess......it just sucks! -
Hey ya'll. I amhaving chicken noodle soup right now...and even eating the noodles (Doc Said I could) I stop at 1/2 cup, but know that I can eat more. I feel so hungry!!! I can't be very swollen in my stomach because I am so hungry!! The old thoughts of stopping by and getting a chees burger at McDonalds keeps creeping in my head...I know I won't but those old thoughts are still there!! Does anyone else have that? I want something good to eat sooooooo bad. Gosh, I feel like I am going to fail on this...this is a really bad day for me. I just want food. I think if I saw a dramatic loss since surgery Iwould be better, but I haven't eaten anything and the scale isn't moving. I feel so bummed! Maybe tomorrow will be better for me.

Thanks, I am on Mushy foods like potatoes and oatmeal. I can move on to tuna and chicken in 2 days, It says 7-14 day post-op. I might stay on the mushy for a while cause it is filling me up ok, but i am getting tired of mashed potatoes!! Thanks so much for your advice!!!
-
I was under the impression that all your food combined had to be 1/2 cup. Is that not right? Maybe I need to call my Dr...cause I have been eating 1/2 cup of food at each meal and thats it, no snacks in between or anything. I haven't really felt that hungry, course I just got banded on Monday.

Know what ya mean about the mashed potatoes...I loved them before surgery, but now I am getting so sick of them. Gas pain is still hurting in my chest. Is that where it is hurting everyone else? It moves right across the center of my chest and sometimes i swear it feels like I am having a heart attack!! I slept in the bed for the first time last night comfortably. A good nights sleep was much needed! Happy Friday to everyone!

I am wondering how you get a 1/2 cup of bbq chicken and potatoes..do you just combine it all to one 1/2 cup?:couch2: ...i am so new to this. I was banded on Monday and am still on the mush phase but was just wondering? and people say they eat salads and things....is that all combined to 1/2 cup?

Just wondering if this is normal, which I am sure it is....but I have gained 6 lbs since my surgery...I can tell my stomach still has sooooo much gas in it so I am sure that is what it is! DId anyone else do this? Just wondering?

I ate the broth of Campbell's Wong-ton Soup. I took out the noodles and ate the broth. It was really tasty!!

I would have that checked out. Mine was kinda sore for 2 days but has since gone away. 5 weeks is a long time, call your doc!!! Good luck!

Pre Op diet???? What did you eat?
skbishop78 replied to RoxanneRoll's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, I drank either 2 protein shakes a day or ate 2 protein bars a day and then a frozen meal such as lean cuisine or weight watchers....had to be under 10 grams of fat and under 700 calories. I lost 17 pounds on my pre-op in 9 days. Most of it was water I am sure, but O'well it was a good jump start! -
Hey guys, so I went to work yesterday..and it wasn't that bad. I am 4 days post-op and am now eating mashed potatoes and oatmeal. It was good to have oatmeal this morning, but I can't say that I am completely full or anything...actually I feel like I could eat alot more. I have my first adjustment on March 14th, so maybe that will be my answer. Congrats Julie on the band...just a suggestion don't lay around walk around alot!! I kept moving and I think that has helped alot. I am not very sore at all around the cuts just the gas passing through my chest hurts, but its tolerable. Good luck, and I am so happy for us and everyone else that has been or is getting banded this month!!!!

Hey feb bandsters....ok...so I am going to try some mashed potatoes today for lunch!! Hopefully they will go down ok.. The doc said I could do soft mushy foods 3 days out after surgery and then days 7-14 start on some heavier foods like tuna or finely chopped chicken. I am excited about eating real food today. I had all the Wong-ton (spelt right?) broth I could eat, it was good...but enough is enough!!! So I am going in to work in about an hour...1/2 day. I feel a little sore, my back hurts the worse from sleeping in that damn recliner. O'well...hope everyone is going good and I will check in later!! Love and Laughs,

Hey guys....Good luck and congrats to those who got banded today!! Well, I am still feeling pretty good. I haven't had to take pain meds yet just Gas-X. I did have rough night sleeping though. I ended up having to sleep in the reclyner. I woke up about every hour kinda hurting and in discomfort. After I switched to the reclyner I was pretty good. I plan on working a half day tomorrow...so far so good, but we will see!!! Everyone let me know how it went with the bandings today!

I am having surgery Monday...and this morning he asked me for my keys...I thought it was weird but I just got a new van so i thought he wanted to look at it.....ANYWAY I went out there later and he had put tons of groceries in the back...tons of sugar free Jello, broths, Water, diet sprite, magazines (like 4 or 5), and a few other things. He even said that he picked out magazines that didn't have much food advertisements in them! He also bought a card and signed it from his whole family saying that I had their support and that if i needed anything to call. I had posted previously that I was kinda regretting telling him, but I take that back...I thought that was sooooooo sweet!:think (happy tears)

Yep joined the other side today...and I am pleasantly suprised that I feel good. I don't want to run a marathon or anything, but I feel good. They had to make 6 inscisions...is that normal? Well, anyway doing good, but we will see how the night goes. -
Hey...good news I had surgery and am feeling great. I got home at around 3:30 today and have not even use the pain meds. I feel a little discomfort, but thats it. The gas pains are totally uncomfortable but some chewable gas-X have really helped out. So far so good...we'll see how good the night and tomorrow is. Just wanted to let you all know, that I was a lot more scared than I needed to be. I did have to have 6 inscisions...which I thought I would only have 5, but oh well. Talk to you all tomorrow!

How much did you lose pre-op or have you lost pre-op?
skbishop78 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey everyone....I have lost 14 lbs..pre-op in 5 days....that is crazy. I can't really tell it though. I know that most of it is water weight but still I was so excited!! I was just wondering how much everyone else lost? I have heard of people losing like 20 or 25 pounds on the pre-op. My friend ofcourse was like " then why get the surgery, just do this and you will lose the weight without surgery"....SKinny people don't understand!!!!!! -
How much did you lose pre-op or have you lost pre-op?
skbishop78 replied to skbishop78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am down 18 pounds now, and go in for surgery tomorrow. I was thrilled with 18 pounds b/c usually I lose like 8 - 10 pounds with any other diet I try in a 2 week span. I have been completely starving these last 2 weeks though. Hardest thing I have ever done!! Well...Worth it I am sure..I am trying to keep the eye on the prize! -
I have my surgery tomorrow. I am down 18 lbs pre-op....and am starving. I go in at 7:45 am and they will wheel me back for surgery around 9:45 am. I am very nervous...somewhat scared. I know it will be worth it though!

Yeah..he is great guy..he called me today to make sure I was still ok..he knew I was on edge about having to do this pre-op diet. He just kept saying keep your eye on the prize....like he was my coach!! Wish my hubby was as supportive...all he does is get jealous...and it is because he doesn't think to do nice things for me. -
