Soft foods stage.... recipe ideas?
kathlizzle replied to shantel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Shantel. First, congrats on your weight loss surgery . I'm just dipping my toes in the water of lean meats too. I found a cream based soup (i.e.cream of mushroom, chicken, etc) is a nice when you add chicken thats been baked with water or barbeque sauce. For example, my husband makes the most delicious baked chicken breasts. Place one or more skinless chicken breasts in a glass or metal baking pan. Cover the raw chicken with 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce and a 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce. Cover pan with foil and bake for 1.5 hours at 350°F. After the chicken cools, I cut it into thin strips and store it in the cooked sauce. I take 1/4 cup of the soup (which I've prepared with milk for more protein) and add a few small pieces of chicken, some canned green beans, and sometimes part of a plain baked potato. Use whatever is the right texture for your stage of recovery. This little recipe has saved me! I get texture from the chicken (chew, chew, chew) and a welcome bit of flavor from the green beans. The potato actually soothes my stomach. Hope this idea can help you. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app -

MISERABLE! Please tell me it gets better
kathlizzle replied to lauratro's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It does get better, really. By degrees each day. Allow yourself time to heal from anesthesia, medications, and the trauma of surgery. Relax, rest, and follow Dr. Orders. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hi LosinToWin. I love your user name! Great way to remember your goals. As for the gas pains, you are doing the right thing. If I would have known how awful the gas pains were going to be after surgery I would not have had the surgery. That is not really true but that's how I felt at the time. The nurses convinced me to walk, walk, walk as much as I could. It actually helped! Hoping you are also benefiting from the Walk. Keep me posted. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Pakko, I feel your pain. I also agree with Sandra. Please contact your surgeon. I know it sounds crazy, but they are there for you physically and emotionally as this journey involves body and mind changes. There are support groups associated with most medical organizations who provide this surgery. New friends are waiting to be made in those groups right in your community. Make the call to your doctor on Monday. They will take your concerns seriously and provide resources to help you. You are not alone (unless you do not follow up with your doctor). Let us know how you are doing. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

Day 6 Post Op -Low energy?
kathlizzle replied to snapy17's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Pudding. I feel for you. I hope you are feeling a bit better. I'm 3 weeks post-op and struggle with nausea too. I spoke with my surgeon's nurse who gave me good advice and helped me understand I am on track as far a recovery. Do what you can protein-wise and liquid-wise. The nausea meds help me of I take it right when I wake up and 8 hours later. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app -
My husband was not for it. I did it anyway and he supports me in my surgery recovery. Be confident in your choice and eventually he will have to join you or be left out of your remarkable journey. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

Alternatives to Protein Shake in Week 1 Post-op?
kathlizzle replied to snailboat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check with your nutritionist (NUT) to be sure. My NUT said 80 grams of protein and 64 oz or more of water a day. Tough to do with nausea, pain, and lack of appetite. My point is, along your recovery journey, check with your medical provider first. They have lots of experience and tons of sound ideas for you to try. They can encourage you and put your mind at ease. I like this forum for shared experiences but caution people from providing medical or diet advice. PS i am with you on being sick of protein shakes.
