Some of youmight have noticed I have been missing for the past week. Most prolly haven't. I wanted to let you all know so I could get some prayers and thoughts from those willing. Actually they are for my daughter. She has been in the hospital for the past week (since last saturday night) with severe pneumonia. It has been a real struggle. The antibiotics they are giving her are not doing anything, and her fever has been almost uncontrollable. So has her pain. She is in such severe pain that it makes her retch and scream. They have her on morphine, but sometimes the pain gets through. It has been very hard on all of us. My mother flew out from Seattle to help me with my son during this time, and DH and I have spent basically every minute at the hospital. Last night he forced me to come home to switch out the supply of clothes we have and take a real shower, not the spongebaths I had been doing. His turn is tonight. My daughter'sname is Emily. She is only 4 years old and has been healthy all of her life until now. This has been so hardon her little body, but she manages to smile still every day. The nurses are in love with her, and her bright redhair. And whenever she is sent to radiology everyone stops her on the way down to admire and tell her how cute she is. It has def been the highlight of her stay. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We need her back at home, and it has been tough on all of us. Thank you. Amy

Thank you all for the prayers and wishes. things are finally starting to slow down around here. i got most of the boxes unpacked, emily is acting as if nothing has happened, and dh and my son are no longer leaking from both ends. my mother still feels pretty awful, but she pushes through it. Prolly cause she is a mom too and knows what it means to tough something out. Pnut, I told Rob that exact thing when he came to bed after spending a half hour in the bathroom. lol he told me to shut it, and then didn't say another word. We have been having emily pray for all the children she saw in the hospital while she was there. I think it is important to teach her that people prayed for her, so she should pray for others in turn. She has it down well now, and when we make a little list of all the people she had praying for her, and prayer lists that she was on, she is amazed. The bit of bad news...I am no longer going to work at nordstrom. I know I just got the job, but all the time away from the store not working, and all the time I will have to take off to see that emily fully recovers is just not fair to expect them to hold my position open without help. I am telling them later today that I am leaving. I know they will be sad to see me go, and i am sad to leave, but emily has to be on some really strong antibiotics for the next month and she can't be in daycare during that time. I feel it is the right thing to do. So I talked with my mother who is a graphics contractor, and got a job working with a contracting company I did some work for many years ago. They have some graphics contracts I can do from here in florida, and I can be at home all day with emily. I think that will be the end of daycare, and her and andy can go to some kids events every week here in town.

i love the idea of a spa day, or a hotel room by myself for 48 hours. in fact, here in town is a resort and spa. I'm gonna go check in there. LOL being the type of mom i am, i would take emily with me so we can go get manny-pedis together. lol

Oh goodness the trials continue. LOL Emily is home, bless her heart, and she has all the energy that a 4 year old that has had to lay on her back for 12 days. But the whole family (my mother, DH, son and daughter) have Rotovirus. Amazingly enough I am not sick. I guess someone up there figured one person needed to stay healthy to take of the rest. Those not familiar with it, rotovirus is a very strong stomach virus that makes you squirt from both ends quite a bit. Everyone is spending their days on the toilet here. I actually had to pee for 4 hours this morning because there was no bathroom available. LOL Everyone is fine, and I have to watch them all for dehydration, but this all seems like it is never going to end. I am so tired. And so ready for a vacation...ALONE! LOL My entire family is grossing me out. On a happy note I have finished sewing my curtains, put them up, put together the BBQ, shampooed the carpets in the new place, and conditioned all the wood furniture in my house. It has been looking a little sad. And I unpacked last night between holding my daughter's hair back and bringing more toilet paper to my DH. yay me!!

I got access to the computer lounge here at the hospital for the employees to check my email. I am sitting here crying reading all of the warm wishes and responses. Thank you all. You have no idea how hard this has been. Today I just wanted to go home because I am so tired and frustrated, but I just don't want to leave her alone. The night I spent away she got really scared and cried most of the night. I feel so guilty, but I know I needed the break. We will just be happy to have her home. The Antibiotics that she is now on seem to be doing some good by this mornings tests, so it looks like part of our prayers have been answered. Thank you all again. The LBT family is a large one, and as I keep telling her, she has so many people praying for her, God is sure to hear about it. She is in high spirits, even with everything going on, and has been officially deemed the Princess of Pediatrics by the nursing staff. They came in this morning and did a mini coronation ceremony for her. No kidding! One of the nurses spent most of last night making her a crown, and another a little sign for the door. She is going to get a big head after all of this. LOL Still staying strong...all of us. Thank you all for the PM's and the posts with prayers and well wishes. Anyone out there with before and after photos with reconstructive surgery after WLS? I would love to see the "final product"! And those who have decided they are good without the surgery, show off those tummies!! I am concerned about how much sagging skin I will be left with and want to see how well you all "shrunk" back to you final sizes. Amy

When I had my daughter i developed a couples of blood clots in my lungs just 3 days after. I was rushed into the ER with shortnessof breath and dizziness. I get in and the triage nurse says "why can't you breathe? did you try running up a flight of stairs?" I tried yelling at her for it, but had to take a breath between each word, so by the time i got through with my tirade i just seemed like a babbling idiot. Then I hadto go in for an angiogram to officially diagnose the clots. they insert a catheter into the artery in the groin, and before doing that they shave and clean that area. Well I had just had a baby, and before the labor I shaved myself. Completely. thenurses and the doctors were all men, except for the prep nurse. She was awesome, and she casually explains to me that she has to shave me again to get me prepped. The doctor looks up and says "again? do you stay shaved often?" what a question!! Then I say ,"no, i am shaved because I just has a baby a few days ago." He replies "oh good, so there is a reason you are this fat. what are your plans to get back into shape?" I was already scared and lightheaded from the whole situation. i just started to cry. which didn't help the breathing situation. the doctor ordered to have me sedated for uncontrolled emotions. I woke up in ICU to spend the next 2 weeks in bed.

that woman needs to stop. i think i saw her on tv and she has been trying to talk her daughter into having surgeries as well.

jill, i understood every character. sad really. i tried so hard to not be a geek. lol I work for Nordstrom in the Tampa Intl Mall. I work in the Encore dept making large women look stylish.

i only know of a doc in tampa that does fills on other surgeons patients. have you looked at thefill center usa site to see if there is one closer to you?

so do i. i have even been described as someone like that. but i am not that much of a dork, thank god. lol

FYI I am seeing a lot of people do this. I just wanted to make some sizing issues clear so that maybe some of you are skipping a size and need to make a change that wil make you look better. :confused: The extra large sizing chart actually goes XL, 1XL, 2XL, 3XL and so on. A lot of people think that XL and 1XL are the same, but they are not. In fashion ordering, when clothes are ordered for a store, the buyer actually buys so many 0XL, 1XL, 2XL and so on and so forth. If an XL is too tight, but a 2XL is really baggy, go find a 1XL. Youmight find it to be a more flattering fit and an easier piece of clothing to wear. Also keep in mind, the baggier the clothing, the heavier we look. Lets not wear tarps people. It is unflattering. Sorry folks. My new job has taught me so much, and I really want to share so much. It is amazing how much it has made me look better.

I love the hard moments thread where we have been sharing the painful experiences of being fat. It isnice to grieve, share, and laugh together. It helps us to be stronger in this journey. I would like to hear some of the cool moments. I knowthey arenot asplentiful asthebad moments, but they are there. They can be a collection of NSV's, things your friends, family, or complete strangers have said or done, of accomplishments we have had over skinny little twits... I might have shared this before, I do not remember. But when I went to talk to the woman we are getting our house from I mention the surgery and that I was excited about it. Her mouth just dropped and she stared at me speechless. I laughed and asked her what was wrong. She said she didn't think I was fat enough for a surgery like that. That she thought I was a little larger, but not fat. She said that she was from MN and that she was the thinnest person in her town. I'd say she weighs approx 150 or 160. I laughed, thanked her, and told her I was going to tell everyone that I was not fat cause Holly told me so. I smiled all day. I also was out with some friends about a year ago. We were playing pool at a bar that dh and I used to frequent. DH wason the other side of the bar playing his game, andI was just hanging out with the girls, singing in karaoke and "getting my drink on". LOL There was a table of really cute guys sitting near us, andthey kept looking over and talking about us. No laughing, just making eyes and cheering a lot when one of us would go up to sing. I had been up about 3 times, and it was a few hours since we first saw them. All the girls were cute, skinny and done up that night. They were picking out the ones they liked, and basically fighting over this one REALLY hunky guy. As I was sitting down after my last song two of the guys came up to our table. One of them was the hunk. They walked up, and all the girls went quite. Amanda, one of the girls, said hi and asked for his name. He looked right at me and said "My nameis mark. You are an amazing singer and a gorgeous woman. Can I buy you a drink?" I started laughing cause I thought they were trying to play a prank on me. He lost his smile and said appologized, turned and started to leave. I got up and asked if he was serious, he said yeah, and i accepted the drink. But I explained before he bought it that I was married and pointed out DH. He smiled, said he was a lucky man, and at the end of the evening approached DH and said as much. I smiled for a week!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

AWESOME!!! and the happy dance can help you lose weight. just do it for at least 20 minutes a day. :confused:

I had a good moment today. i went to the hardware store to get some more packing supplies. i was in my scrubbies, and my hair was up in a bunch of pigtails so that it could be out of my face. i did have makeup on, but not much. I got to the checkout counter and there was an EXTREMELY good looking guy working the register. He asked where I was moving to, and I told him, and he said he lived in the same little town. As there was aa price correction/check going on he flirted with me and then asked me out on a date!!! I just about fell over!! I even askedhim to clarify! "Are you asking me out on a date??" He laughed and said yeah, is that not allowed? I showed him my wedding band, and said that it was so flatering that he asked. He literally slumped when i showed him! I was so amazed. I actually gave him a peck on the cheek for asking, and have vowed to shop there for something at least once a week! LOL Maybe I will get a pic next time and post it. He was SOOOOO hot!!!

sarah i had the same thing happen. she put 250 for me without asking. I laughed and took it back to her and said "this is wrong, I am actually 350" They actually called the manager. The manager said that they had to put what I 'looked' like, not what I really was, and I 'looked' 250, not 350. I left with a smile. I used to body build before I got fat. I was very small, hard, and very muscular. That is all still there under this fat, so I am very dense. LOL I love saying that. I am sure there are a few people here that will chuckle with me, and at me.

hahahaha used to have a little book that had those in it, as well as old southern sayings and wives tales. it was awesome. the south is the creator of some of the funniest sayings, sounds, and spellings.

DH and I used to be against WLS because of RnY. we had never even heard about the lap band. We never discussed it. Then rob started his new job, and met a band girl in his office. He started doing research, and brought the idea to me on our way up to North Carolina for Thanksgiving with the family. We talked the entire 12 hours. We were both so excited! Everytime we were alone for about a month we would talk about it. Wedon't talk as much about it now that we are waiting, but when itis brought up, he is more excited about it thanme most times...and that is saying a lot since I am pretty damned anxious for this surgery!! When we had that rash of divorce posts a few weeks ago I brought up the issue with him. He told me he secretly fears me finding him unwanted when I lose the weight. I asked about his love for me and if he felt it might change when i lose the weight as well. He explained that what he fell in love with was not my body. His appreciation for my body came after his appreciation for the rest of me. My intelligence, experience, personality, love and respect. My body, no matter what its size or shape, was just a bonus part of the package. He loves my body now, I am in proportion and very hourglass (I can make this whale of a body look sexy when I need to LOL) but he knows, as well asI do, that he will love the thin me even more. His honesty in this dicussion is what made me realize that he was 100% behind me, without fail or stumble, and would see me through any complication, down side, flappy boob and tummy skin, and scar stage. I wouldnot do something like this without his support, and it feels so good to know I have it.

5'4", 340 pounds, size 28-30 or 3x to 4x, bra is 42DDD. I am between a triple D and double D. I used to be a 5x, but have moved to a 4x, and even some of those are big. yay! I am very muscular under all this fat, so i weigh more than i look according to many people. or maybe they are just being nice. who knows. lol

I am totally confused too. Which did you switch from and to?
