Anderson is my little trooper. occasionally he has an accident. he is in pull ups when we go out because he has had a few accidents in public. But for the most part when he has to go he gets really really excited, and announces it to the whole world, then runs into the bathroom to use the potty. Then he'll come running out of the bathroom when he is done, waving the underwear or pullup he was wearing, proclaiming that they are still dry, not caring who sees his whatsis. lol thank gravy i work at home.

Are you aiming for a bikini bod?
FunnyDuddies replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
damn skippy i want to be in a bikini bod. i am really looking forward to being tiny again. i used to have a FABULOUS bod. very curvy, large chest, great hips, looked good in a bikini, and i still hovered around 100 pounds. i want to get back to that. i might not get to 100, but i can get smooth all over and be in the right shape to wear a bikini. -
my calendar age is 29.2 and my real age is 31.8. To lower my real age more i need to stop smoking, take a daily Vitamin, and socialize more. but then when would i have the time to drink??

So - what's your status?
FunnyDuddies replied to sleepyjean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am extremely, over the top, head over heels, knock your socks off in love with my husband. We have been together since I was 16, he was 19. Just best friends at that point. Then when I turned 18 he gave me a necklace for my birthday. It was the only gift I got that year, and it was perfect. I haven't taken it off since. We fell in love around that time, and got married on December 4th, 1999. Counting all the time together, it adds up to 13 years together. He is still my best friend. He is also my partner in crime, confident, joker, and all around protector. He's the best dad in the world to our two kids, and the most supportive and loving husband I could have ever wished for. -
My apron is large due to up and down weight, and two kids very close together. it isn't just skin, but it is quite loose and annoying. my pcp says that if my insurance was nicer, it should be medically nec for me to have it removed. it is bad now. when i stand you can't see my hooha. and when i wear tight pants it makes it look like i have a butt in the front LOL thank god for longer shirts. Its not like it hangs down to my knees, but it is certainly a pain in the butt and really makes excersize kinda difficult. Like I could do sit ups well if it weren't there. I agree that it is not the same as a TT. It is just skin removal, but usually not done to pretty things up. Most apron removal surgeries that are just for that leave a lot to be desired looks wise. but it would be a huge weight off (quite literally) to have it done and be able to move easier. I am curious if anyone else has done this, either before, during or after weight loss. I want to know what the recovery time was like, what the scar is like, and so on and so forth. it is not as invasive as a tt since the muscles are not touched. just the skin and fat under it is removed.
-
oh of course. i am planning on having a total body lift afterwards. i am wondering who had their aprons removed before hand just to make things easier. i would do both. the apron removal, then the tt and total body lift after. i am not wanting to have the apron removal done before hand and nothing after. i would look funny. lol

this is fabulous!! thank you so much for sharing this with people! I know that for me it has answered tons of questions!! I only hope that all my fills go that smoothly.

We don't have great credit either, so we saved money and are having the surgery in Mexico. Cost for me is 9100 and includes everything, even airfare.
-
i have been doing the same thing. but dh made a good point. he said "you don't know what style is going to look good on you. what if you buy all of this and end up looking like hell?" blunt, but correct.

When I was about 4 (I remember this so clearly) I wanted to be a tour guide in hawaii. I thought that would be great cause you could live in paradise and get to go to the beach every day. This was right before we moved from hawaii so you can tell i really wanted to stay. When I was in high school my dad really wanted me to go into zoology or oceanography or vet medicine. he was a failed vet student (never graduated and joined the marines) and wanted to live out his desires through me. i rebelled and ended up dropping out of school. i got my GED and moved to florida to be with my now DH. I went to college while he went to college and got a few degrees and certificates. Now I am a mom, a wife, and a contract graphic designer. I get to work from home so I am so happy. I did a lot of weird things as a kid. One of the wierdest...I was a piggy bank as a kid. My clothes never had pockets, and our school lunch cost $.90 so I always had a dime left over after lunch. I didn't want to throw it away or lose it, so I would swallow it. lord only knows what could have happened. But I did it alot and never had any probs from it.

Mexico vs. Wishcenter
FunnyDuddies replied to Sofla Kate's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I think the funniest part of it all is that the website listed sends you to an erectial dysfunction and premature ejaculation site. LOL For those of you upset by the rule against advertisement, please understand that there are ways of giving word of mouth without being an outright advertisment. I push my doctor, but also explain other choices and why I am choosing him. that post above was an outright advertisment. -

you said they didn't need to be cheap, so head over to Nordies! I tell ya, they have a great shoe selection in just about everysize! And they can bring in your size if they are not carrying it at that moment. and the great thing about them...if you wear the shoe and it just doesn't fit well enough, you can bring them back with no hassles!!

Give me your best "how I did it" lines!

Just raise your hands to the heavens, lift your head, and cry out "SEX! LOTS OF WILD SEX!" i promise you will only get a few questioners after that. -
Oh, one other thing you can tell your husband to make him feel more at ease. Mexican doctors most of the time have WAY more experience than american doctors due to the fact that it was just recently made available in the US. Many of them have over 1000 surgeries completed, and my doctor has over 5000 completed. That is compared to the 200 or 300 you will find most us doctors have.

Question on Mexico Docs
FunnyDuddies replied to irishrose's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I don't know about other mexico doctors. But the one I chose is Doctor Sanchez in Monterrey Mexico. He works out of an american hospital and I have been told that he will in fact take care of you if there are any complications afterwards like erosion or slippage. His cost covers the plane ticket, a few nights stay in his guest house, the surgery and a nights stay in an american owned hospital, and the surgery and band, plus all the psych and nutritional help, and free fills by him in MX. -
Well the truth of it is that it has only been around for a relatively short amount of time compared to the other WLS out there. Still it has been around long enough to show that, for at least the first 10 years, there are no major complications that occur except for the ones we know of that are possible like erosion and slippage and leakage. But past that time we really don't know. It is good that you are doing this research though. It will make you more confident in whichever decision you make.

Shakes - Alternate to Magic Bullet

I love to share my smoothie recipe with people, so pardon the hijack. I got it from a gym DH and I went to in college. It is the best smoothie I have ever tasted, and I know you will like it too. 2 bananas peeled, broken in half and then frozen 1 cup frozen strawberries 1 cup plain yogurt 2 cups 100% apple juice .25 cup wheat germ (optional for additional fibre) You can add anything else to this. I usually add some more frozen mixed berries, esp .5 a cup of frozen blueberries. They are sooooo good for you. You can also substitute POM pomagranite juice, but that can get pricey. POM is extremely good for you though. The key is for all the fruit to be frozen. This allows you to blend it all without having to add ice and Water everything down. The yogurt is a great way to get dairy Calcium and Protein. The fruit is all natural and healthy of course. the wheat germ I like because it adds Fiber and a littl crunchyness to it all. It also helps to fill you up and keep you full for a while. Put your juice, yogurt and bananas in the blender. Liquify. Add other frozen fruit till blended and liquified. Then add wheat germ. Pour and drink. It is a fabulous taste, really really thick, and not watered down in any way. Enjoy!! -
A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

I am on such a tear to be 299 by the time my surgery happens. I am using fitday.com, and working out everyday (hour of tae bo and hour of pilates). I am gonna do this!! Dammit! LOL I am also keeping my diet to around 1200 a day. I have eaten so much healthy stuff i feel like i am going to sprout roots and grow a tree out of my ear. -
Hi JJ! Welcoe to LBT! Glad you have decided to start posting. First things first. My family also felt surgery in Mexico was insane. Even I had some speculation about it all. I am not familiar with Dr. Kuri, but I know that there are some REALLY good hospitals in MX. The dr I chose was Dr. Sanchez who is in Monterrey MX. The hospital he practices out of is actually owned by an american team, and those who have gone to it say it is nicer, cleaner, and a lot friendlier and nicer than any hospital in America. Being a self pay really does make those cheaper alternatives look great! My surgery will cost me 9100 and includes airfare, everything for the surgery, time at the guest house, and any follow ups or complications that might arise. Compared to the 17000 I would pay here in Tampa, it is well worth it after everything you receive. There are plenty of people here who have had surgery with Dr. Kuri, and I am sure that they will be happy to discuss their exp and stories. As for fills, check out Fill Center USA on the web and see if there are any fill dr's in your area. There are a lot of doctors that will not do fills on patients that have had the band installed by someone else, whether it is MX or France or here in the US. But you can find a few through Fill Center USA. And the issue of cost really is a huge range. I have heard of people getting fills from $50 all the way up to $750. It really depends on the doctor and how he does it. I hope that helps!!
