tilapia i have had with the parmesean coating. it is very good. i have also had it pan cooked in olive oil coated in almond and dill. ohmygod. so good. i really like tilapia just for its versatility. Kat you might like it a lot because it really doesn't have that overly strong fishy taste. it has a light flaky taste that allows you to really flavor it up with marinades or seasoning. try an orange or some other fruit relish with it. or marinade it before cooking. I love marinading mine in some terriyaki sauce. it really makes asian meals great! And its great marinaded in terriyaki sauce, baked, refridgerated, then crumbled into an asian salad. yummy yummy.

that sounds great wheetsin! minus the mushrooms. I can't eat mushrooms. but the rest sounds perfect. I'll try that this weekend. shawn, i usually drizzle the dressing over the salad. But it can be tossed in it, or even served on the side and dipped with the salad. after mixing it it is actually quite smooth and liquidy, not really thick and chunky, so it drizzles well.

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
FunnyDuddies replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
welcome alison! Can't wait to be banded right along with ya! You have lost a great amount of weight! Great job! Molly, with all of the pain and suffering you are dealing with not being able to read what the scale says, just think of how amazing you are going to feel the first time that scale does not read Error!! You are going to just die from happiness! -
I didn't really care for Honey We're Killing the Kids. Ever notice that in the bad version of their futures they are always wearing bad clothes, haven't had a hair cut (or looked like it has been washed) in a year, and the men haven't shaved in a day or two. But in the good version of the future they are clean cut, wearing nice clothes, freshly shaved and bathed. I would respect if more if their hair and stubble and clothes were the same. I mean come on! In one kid's bad version they actually had him spend a period f time with glasses on that had tape holding them together. Does being fat make you not want to get your glasses fixed? LOL I think the premise of the show is a good one, I just wished they spent more time with the families than just 3 weeks to show some real changes, and were a little more realistic in the before and afters. Our favorites are Survivor, CSI Las Vegas, CSI Miami, Law and Order (all of them) ER, Most Haunted, Nanny 911, Wife Swap (that's just pure comedy genius right there!!!) We have a digital video recorder built into our cable box so we set up recordings for the shows that overlap, or that we might miss. it is so nice!!

eileen i will have to try that dressing! I have been diggin on the salads lately, trying to do something other than half a head of lettuce and some blue cheese. LOL I have been getting into more of the baby greens, the spinaches, romaine hearts, etc. My mother makes a dresing that is sooooo good. you take equal parts fat free sour cream and fat free mayo. Mix them together. Then do 2 tbls of honey and 2 tbls of lime juice. Voila! It is sooooo good and creamy, and low in fat. The sugar from the honey is natural so it does not spike your blood sugar as much, and really adds a nice flavor. you can adjust the honey flavor though. I have never tried substituting the honey with an artificial sweetener but since it adds no texture i am sure that an artificial sweetener could be used. It is great on salads, to dip meat into, as a sauce over fish. fabulous!!!

Glad to see you back. Talk to your doc's office about financing. Usually they will have a bank they work with on a regular basis to get funds. If you are credit-challenged like me  then saving up is the only option. I plan on having my PS with the doctor that works with my Mexico Doctor. I think I heard numbers like $8k for a full body lift, which is a bit more than what you want. Great site by the way.

Please Help Nurse Needed Look at Picts

I am like you and basically allergic to anything that is not gold or silver. When I had my DD's c-sec the staples made me insane and itchy and red like this. i would find that soaking with hydrogen peroxide, and then the pain killing neosporin really helped to take the edge off until i could get into the doc. since you are already doing these things i do not know what else to tell you. I do not recommend taking them out yourself. If you do have an infection that can hinder the body's ability to heal, and if you remove them it could cause the wounds to open up. -
I don't agree with bans on advertising. food has been advertised for as long as there were ads. It is only in this day and age that people are having obesity issues. That is more of a society issue than an advertisment issues. I am even against the bans on cig ads. And am happy that (even though they take up half the phone book and most time on daytime tv) lawyers and hospitals can now advertise. I think the issue is not with the people providing the food and there by advertising, but with the fact that we have become a fast food and preservative junky society. The food companies advertise and make lots of money because of our obesity issues. They do not cause them. At least that is my opinion.

You go girl!!! OMG diane that is awesome! Doesn't it feel good when things like that happen? Random guys flirting with you has to be the ultimate pick me up!!

willing to show any pics? you can email them to me if you like. I am just really curious. I am also trying to figure out if I should have it done before or after the lapband. Dr. Sanchez won't do it at the same time. I was really hoping to have it all at once, but that is ok.

fee, do you have any probs with the "caved in" look some people get? And did insurance cover it for you? How much weight was lost? And did the doc take time to give you a belly button? (i wouldn't mind if I didn't have one because i'll be having surgery later, but it wouldn't be weird to not have one)

losing too much before the med eval
FunnyDuddies replied to chabutter's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
They look at your history, but they really do look at your current status. It is a catch 22. They will not cover it if you show that you are successfully losing weight. Some of the 6 month diet requirements are like that. They want to see you do it all on your own. -
I treat myself. I have a glass of wine and two peanut butter mini cups every night usually. it is my quiet time. my "mommy without the kids" time. Usually it is spent in our new pool of a bathtub that actually covers my whole body with water. With that break time and little treat I can stay on a diet pretty well. But it is hard to not just quit forever when i cheat more than that. its really hard to talk myself into liking myself again after that.

We jsut moved into this new hourse, and I have this amazingly large shower across from the sinks. with glass surround. so i'll be in there taking a shower and see my body and a swear to god it still shocks me!! And I keep thinking that i am going to get used to this body just when i start to lose the weight, and the skinny me will scare the hell out of me too. LOL

i have two children, but i am still under 30. i had the leaking prob too, but i did kegals a lot to help get rid of it. some days i like to go all day without panties. i think usually weekends are like that for me if we are lounging, watching footbal and stuck around the house mainly. but i mostly wear panties out. controls the tummy better.

yes, and sometimes it can be tough, but not impossible there are more available to do fills for doctors outside the us than there used to be. i think the us surgeons are starting to realize that they should not be so stuck up about it.

My husband wanted me to ask this.
FunnyDuddies replied to MiaHalliwell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i know i have to watch myslef or i will spend all my extra time on the board. i work all day at home on my computer. if i spend a lot of extra time on the site then yes, i am not being as active as i should be. i don't think it is the cause of our obesity, but it certainly plays into easily. just my opinion. -
and get all that crap out of your house!! It does not need to be there, and the further away you are from it, the easier it is to not be tempted. A bad week does not a failure make. Get back on the horse, and find ways to give yourself little reminders about what you have done (the surgery) to make yourself healthy.

does your surgeon have a nutritionist or a counselor you can consult with?
-
I know there are some surgeons in France that will do your surgery atany BMI if you can prove that you have trouble staying at a healthy weight. They use it to combat obesity even when you are at a low point.

What is your food weakness, (demise)?
FunnyDuddies replied to Telly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ugh...steak. i am a huge red meat fan. i can't get enough of it. i will eat chicken and fish, but give me a thick, marbled, juicy medium rare staek and i am in heaven for ever. -
I see a lot of different women. A mom who's kids are starting to give her wrinkles and never has time to wash her hair properly. A wife who is afraid that she is not attractive to her husband, and hates how her boobs look. A teenage hardbody that I used to be. 100 pounds with a great rack and a tight ass. And curves to my waist that were envied by all my friends. Somewhere in there is the confused and scared and worried girl that I am. I still don't know where I am gonna land. I am just in limbo.

when he said that he saw nothing do you think he really couldn't see what was making the light, that he didn't see the light at all, or that he just doesn't want to say what he saw?
