that sounds good! I am really finding out good it is to add nuts to salads. it really adds a nice crunch, and lots of flavor, and in some case Protein.

I don't know if it is band friendly. But I have been eating the best salad lately. i stole the idea from Norstroms. It is baby green (you can buy them premixed in a bag in the veggie section) a sugar free raspberry vinegarrette with some olive oil added to it to bring down the sharp taste, swiss cheese cut into some small square, 1/4 pear cut into small squares, 5 or 6 pralined pecans cut into a few small chunks. It is sooooo good. the cheese and pear and pralines really add some nice flavor, and the vinegarette is really calmed down by the extra oil. It is low in cals, and is filling. the cheese also gives you some Protein to fill you for longer periods of time. Jut thought I'd share cause I like it soooo much. I am thinking of trying an asian flair to it at some point. Substitute the pralines with mandarin oranges and do a ginger vinegarette. Maybe add some shredded chicken to it too.

wooohooo teresita!!! I also passed a milestone. I am under 350 as of today!! we will do this together!! pretty soon we will be in the 200's!! -
for those of you who might not have noticed, i have found a new love in salads. All sorts. and they are so filling with very little calories and such. share with me your favorite salad (including fruit) recipes. I really am looking for all sorts. I will catalogue them all. and you can bet i will try just about every one of them!! here is another salad that my kids just love!! 4 or 5 roma tomatoes, sliced 2 ounces of wet mozzarella cut into chunks 3 or 4 spoonfulls of olive oil 1 tablespoon basil fresh ground pepper You can add this to a green salad as well, but i prefer just the tomatoes and cheese. you can also add roasted garlic to it to really punch up the flavor. and sometimes my DH will saute the tomatoes breifly in the oil and garlic, then pour the whole lot onto the cheese on a large dish. hot or cold, this is a great salad!!

i hate that the public toilets always put the toilet paper dispenser so low i can't reach up and in to get it. i hate when my son decides to come out of the bathroom naked with poop on his butt from an accident, right as someone decides to come over for a visit. i hate that my mother thinks i punish my kids too often and too severely when i was raised by a nanny and a television. i hate that she loses it and screams at them after 5 minutes of spending time with them. i hate that i worked 103 hours last week and that nice paycheck is already spent. i hate when my mom doesn't call when she flies back home, on the night that 1 plane crashes and two lose their landing gear. :grouphug: i hate that i don't have my band yet.

yay! I really want to see them. I am so nervous about hearing if i was approved or not. i shouldn't be this nervous, but i am. :grouphug:

DeLarla, one thing I can recommend...try not to borrow money. The less debt your company can have, the greater the chances of success. Here are some stats that might scare ya, but will empower you once you make it past these marks. 92% of businesses fail in the first year. Of those that survive only 5% of them fail the second year. After three years you are looking at a miniscule number and failure is not likely. So start slow. try not to get yourself into debt. Learn to write of EVERYTHING!! get yourself a REALLY good accountant that can help you walk through all of the money aspects, and the laws of your area. and don't jump into advertising without lots of planning. advertising eventually needs to make up a large part of your budget. but you want to make sure that you start slow and do not advertise more than you can afford.

come on down babe!! I need a sister right about now. we can go have a drink at this great place i know where 20 year old men get drunk and dance and look really good and hot and excuse me...i need to stop talking about that now. LOL comon down! We'll leave the light on for ya! and we are forgoing the painting for a few more weeks, so the house doesn't smell like latex! Bonus!! LOL

ugh i wish i could take that stuff. but i clot, so if i do i'll die. hmmmm... period or death. Back off i'm trying to decide!! LOL Pnut, you and i are both stuck in the "bitchies" lately i think. i too have been snappy, angry, mean to DH (he says he could handle it if i was wearing something tiny and leather at the time), and just all around not very nice to the kids. it is so hard to be calm and cool around a 3 and 4 year old all the time. And to beat it all to hell, my son knocked over a picture today on the counter that landed in the sink breaking my wine glass from our wedding. I am just not having a good week either. i want chocolate but i can't have that cause of this stoopid challenge!! LOL j/k

I have no symptoms, but a trip to my pcp brought out the possiblity of a hernia for me as well. i have no pain, no problems, except for an inability to suck in my stomach as much as before. my pcp says that if it is there it can be repaired during the lap band surgery.

Paul you hit the nail on the head. One thing I want to add, and it is because the thread's creator had her surgery in MX I believe, is that you can still have aftercare if your surgery is done outside of your state or country. The key is to line up a doctor locally before your surgery abroad. I see this as a program like paul said. You really need to have someone locally you can go to, and trust, and ask questions of, and all that jazz. For instance, my surgeon is Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey Mx. I trust him. I trust his staff. I would not choose anyone else to go to. But obviously I can not go and see him once a week right after surgery. So I went to him and asked him who he would like for me to interview here as aftercare doctors. He gave me names of people to check on, and I chose Dr. Jessee who's office is within 10 miles of me. I have my aftercare lined up, and I feel comfortable and secure in going forward with my "program". Great point Paul!! Well said.

i don't like it. i think they are too cheeky with the different future possibilities. Just cause your kid eats junk now does not mean that he is never going to shave, not cut his hair, and have tape on his glasses and wear dirty clothes in the future. Its just a bit silly to me. Plus I think they need to spend more than just 3 weeks with the families. Now yes, I think there is a problem with the way kids are being raised today, but lets try showing parents in a realistic light. How about just basic comparrison to healthy kids. Their cholesterol, sleep patterns, nutrient levels in the blood, fat percentage, etc. but i guess someone got a new toy for graduating their imaging class and wanted to have some fun with it. LOL

I missed it!! What are you doing in your new job? Congratz on it by the way. Sounds like waiting or bartending to me with the "feet hurt" comment.

I am very curious to find out what you hear from them, because I am in clearwater and would be glad to have insurance cover WLS rather than out of my own pocket. There are many good things we want to put that money towards. Like new boobs. HAHAHA I know that with most individual and small business insurance co's the turn down rate is staggering. And the approval process is much more difficult.

Cashley, I put your name on my post because I was responding to your post directly with that line. Strawarts, you are not reading clearly what I am writing. I didn't say you were irresponsible with your band. I am saying that you are being irresponsible with OTHER PEOPLE's bands by stating that "I did it, why don't you do it too!" If you want to eat that way, fine! Go ahead! But to suggest to someone that because you are okay that the whole system is somehow flawed and that she really shouldn't worry about what she is eating is irresponsible. And you would be REALLY SURPRISED to see what people have done on the internet on the advice of others on a message board. I don't put anything past anyone here. I am sure she is a capable person, and I am sure it is just her frustration, but I have seen more posts about "Well so and so told me I could do this and I tried and now I have pain". Lets talk about your relationship with your doctor since you bring it up a lot here. If you do not trust your doctor...why did you go to him? Just curious. I mean, I like to be informed too, but it sounds like you have just a down right distrust of this person. Maybe you should find another doctor that you can feel comfortable with, and with who's opinions you share. I hope that you find a good one. The arbitrary rules have been pretty fine tuned though, and seem to vary from doctor to doctor. Like I told her, she should go by what her doctor says to do. Education, highschool or doctorate and everything in between, has nothing to do with explanations of rules. She asked for clarification, she got it, along with a few others saying some crazy things about not needing rules, and I hope that she chooses the path that will lead her to wellness.

Pre-op, not dieting and friends are "concerned". Help!
FunnyDuddies replied to Constance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tell them that you need to not be in "diet mode" when you have surgery so that you can heal properly, and that you and your doctor have discussed the issue, and leave it at that. If they pry more say "Its complicated and I'd rather not dwell on it all right now"
