well I know for a fact that sunlight gives you vitamin D and that helps to perk you up. Lack of it causes depression and that is why places that are under a blanket of clouds most of the time, like Seattle, have a higher suicide rate. interesting, huh? I don't know if you can get the same from a tanning bed though! LOL It might just be the relaxation of being completely alone with nothing but your thoughts.

If you cannot find a doctor nearby at all that you are comfortable, i would suggest (if you have to travel for it no matter what) going out of the country where the lapband docs have much more experience. I am going to Mexico and my doc has done over 5000 lapband surgeries. I, too, was conserned about how little the docs around us had done. Follow up care is really important. But until a doc is nearby you you will have to travel anyways, so why not buy a package from a doc out of the country, save some money, and go back to them for free fills and evaluations. Your PCP can handle some of it. I know there are even some PCP's that are learning how to do fills just to help their lonely patients who are without fill docs. If I decide to go back to my doc for fills in mexico it would cost a plane ticket. The fills are free once I am there. And the ticket costs approx 500. So do fills in most place. So to me it is a wash. Just an idea.

You can also try some isopure drinks. They are clear, fruity flavored, and have lots of protein to give you energy. Also, try drinking liquid jello. Basically you can let it cool off, but not solidify, and drink it up. I used to love drinking jello when i was a kid. I could never wait for it to thicken LOL Try to get protein energy rather than caffine or sugar energy. That will be healthier for you. You are more than likely tired because you cannot stomach much food, and you are healing with no food intake. Your body is working overtime.

Today "I kicked my brother because I was drunk" My poor nonexistent brother is just getting kicked for all sorts of reasons! LOL

ya know, it only takes 2 to support each other LOL I think the idea of "enough participation" is crazy. Its like the whole If you build it they will come theory. Start the group, and bandsters will come out of the woodwork!!

i had skin cancer when i was 13. my arms are covered in freckles from years of growing up in tropical climates. i love the sun. but i burn. so i seek the shade, and use a lotion tanner. I love it!! If I want my porcelain look, i don't use it for a week or two and i get my creamy white skin back, but if i want to not "glow" at the beach or the club (i feel like i glow blue under blacklights at the clubs LOL) i lotion tan for a few weeks, then 2x a week to keep it going. not too dark or it looks funny. Redheads were not meant to be really dark LOL

telly. its the two gallons of water i drank yesterday. 2 gallons=16 pounds. and i only kept 9 of those LOL Its a theory at least!

i am having the hardest time explaining to people that the band is not the same as the bypass. people hear i am going to have bypass, and they freak out! Telling me no, you'll become anemic, you'll lose all your teeth and hair and have osteoperosis, and really bad breath LOL my mother in law esp is a tough one to explain this too. she is 77. she has had three friends die from bypass. She is scared to death that I am going to die.

i am surprised, really, that support groups get mixed. I mean, I understand that there aren't many bandsters out there, but comon! The band and the bypass surgery are so totally different, have different healing times, and different complications

I also found a new product. I bought it at Kash n Karry (which will soon be changing to a Sweetbay). It is a line called waist watchers. No sugar, no sodium, no calories, no nuthin!! But the vanilla cream is to die for!! And the ginger ale is really yummy too. I can't wait to taste more. It is sweetened with splenda, so it won't mess with your blood sugar.

oh boy i need more low cal, no sugar liquid diet ideas. I have to go on a serious liquid diet before my apron removal, and I need all the ideas I can get! Aside from Isopure and chocolate protein shakes LOL

my dad got a fish bone from salmon stuck in his windpipe once. he had to go to the hospital to have it removed. It was funny at the time, and looking back, cause he sounded like a cat hacking up a hairball. HUCK HUCK ACK! hehehehe I am sorry you went through it though. I do not mean to make light. It does happen. I had it happen, but it was close enough to the top where DH could pull it out with a pair of tweezers. We try to clean all the bones out of the fish, but when they are as thin as whiskers and clear, you miss a few sometimes. Interesting about the vinegar. I guess it did work! LOL

what he needs to do is front a band and come out with a very hard album. that will help him to lose the stigma of Idol. Otherwise he will be labeled "pop" forever.

some docs require you to lose wieght so that your BMI is closer to 50. It seems to be a magic number. Some even charge more if your BMI is above 50. also, some docs require that you lose weight right before surgery so that your liver has less fatty deposits on it. It also helps to shrink the fat pockets around the stomach so that placing the band is easier. Its not that he is a quack. He just does not have a very good manner. Did you ask him why? If he won't give you specifics then leave. And by all means, if you are not comfortable with him then you should not be his patient. But if he explains that it is one of these reasons, it is not uncommon. A little respect should have been paid, and consideration for your situation should have been taken.

How do those of you banded handle onions? and i mean lots of onions? I am an onion lover. Particularly vidalia onions. I eat half an onion just on my salad. Yes, that makes me a tough one to kiss, but I chew a lot of gum after i eat my onions. And I love sauteed onions on various things. its great on chicken with a little bit of blue cheese. yum. Do you find you have trouble with onions? Do they get stuck? Cause I would hate to not be able to eat my onions.:phanvan

Here is my take on it... He was the best on there, ut I think he will do much better as BOT being the American Idol and going on it on his own. Maybe as a lead singer of a band. I think the girl is bringing in the chick vote. Yes, I said it. She has america's women behind her, voting to keep the girl in the race. Personally I thought for sure it would be the two of them in the final two. Did you see the look on HER face?!? Talk about shock! She thought for sure she was going home!! And I cannot believe the way Ryan told him!! It was like dumping a bucket of cold water on him!!

sounds like MSG reaction. I have had the same reaction. Its hard to deal with. Just ask if they use MSG before ordering next time. I hope it works out for you.

Kathy - CRP is mostly used to measure how much irritation the body has. Dawg is slightly irritating, so his CRP is slightly elevated. *snickers* Hugs dawg. Glad you are alive. A CRP really does measure the amount of irritation and inflamation there is in the body. In a round about way it also measures how much pain the body is in because more often than not the irritation or inflamation can cause pain. When Emily was in the hospital with pneumonia her lung was rubbing on the diaphram causing irritation and inflamation. Her CRP was so high the doctor said "Its no wonder she says she is in pain! I haven't seen grown men stay quiet with this high of CRP" Poor little thing. As her Pneumonia got better and the inflamation went down, the pain went down, and so did the CRP readins. Normal is under 1 for most people. When She left the hospital hers was still at 7. When she was at the height of her pain, it was at 32. What is yours at dawg?
