Gone for Good Club - June 2006

Pfunk and lins - it is from that soup diet and the liquid diet i am on now, plus I amped up my cardio to an hour and a half every morning. Can we say determined to get to goal for surgery day? LOL lianna I agree with pfunk that sometimes you need to mess with your metabolisms head. LOL try eating 600 cals one day, 1200 the next, 900 the next. That way it does not try to store calories or fat. Also switch up your routine. Different types of cardio. that way your body is not in a rut. This worked for my husband as he was trying to get to goal, and he broke his 1 month plateau doing so. He also increased his water to a gallon a day from the 64oz. This really made him feel good too. Pictures tomorrow evening. I promise. DH and I have a 'date' to do the pics so that i do not forget again.

    Star Jones....leaving "the view"

LOL This made me laugh. I know people party on wednesdays. Hell I would if i could lol My comment about her was somewhat tongue in cheek, but i still don't like her. not just because of the partying. Time2live - thank you so much. I am working really hard. I can't wait to get the band and have some of the work done for me by my new "tool". I just heard on the radio that she was indeed fired, and that in her contract she was not supposed to state this, but she did and Babs feels, in her words, "betrayed by Star" for stating this on the show. I have not watched the clip, but they were talking about it on the talk radio show I listen to. Yet one more example of her stuck-up-edness. She can just prance around the world full of herself for all I care, but I think they will be doing much better without her on the show.

    She had to drive herself.

This is a great saying and it is so true most of the time. I am really lucky to have such a supportive family, even if most of them do not understnad, and worry about the surgery. But I have to say that what that husband did is awful!!

    Star Jones....leaving "the view"

It seems everytime I turn it on she is there talking about how much she partied the night before and all the men that want her and how drunk she got and all that jazz. Don't get me wrong, I do the same thing, but I ain't there talking about all the eyes that were on me, all the men I danced with, all the men that want me. Not always. I mean how stuck up do you need to be to do that all the time and make a big deal about it on the show the next day. And who parties like that on a wednesday? LOL She just has nothing more to offer to that show.

4th of July/ Summer Exchange Thank You Thread

Yep. My name is Amy. And thanks for the well wishes. I hope I am a good bandster. LOL But I am as excited as one can get, and ready to scream just from the energy I have from it all LOL I really do hope you enjoy this stuff. Also, that little makeup bag is supposed to have a little bikini on its zipper. I figured that was a fitting little goal reminder when you are making yourself pretty. LOL

LOL they didn't put my name on it? I was your secret sam. And that is my favorite scent collection from Victoria's Secret. I hope that you enjoy it as much as i do. I get rave reviews on the perfume and body spray whenever I wear it. I know in your "likes" info you said you liked girly stuff and this was the one thing I thought was perfect for a girly girl I really hope you enjoy it!!!

    Star Jones....leaving "the view"

I don't like her. pre and post weight loss. I thought she was always a tacky woman. It had no baring on her weight. But I have never liked her. So I am glad, because I would watch that show if she wasn't on. I love joy. LOL

    Marriage on the Rocks?

Saul, I respect your feelings in this. I also agree that it feels good to have people commenting and complimenting you. Of course you are going to enjoy it! It is new, and something that you have been without for a long while. It is going to feel good, and make you feel like a stud. And you should feel that way! You are one now that you have lost the weight. Just think of how lucky your wife is now that she has gotten back the virile man she has always wanted. think of what she has put up with, and done without, over this time that you were overweight. Maybe you should show your appreciation to all the hard work she has put into the marriage, and all of the love she has given to you when you were at your highest. This is a big step towards being healthy. Maybe talk to her about how you feel so good about your new body, that you want the both of you to do healthy things together. Hiking, biking, scubadiving, etc. If you think she is gaining, understand that the 22 years of marriage where you were large, she was not the one able to relax. Now it might be her turn to relax. Understand what she is going through too. there is no problem in enjoying the compliments. But bring them home to your wife, and try and see the love and the time that she has given to you when no one was complimenting you. And admire her for the stud that she saw deep down inside before you lost the weight. The stud that everyone else now sees. Good luck.

    Blood Clots

Just be sure to tell your doc so that proper precautions can be taken. I have a blood clot history (pulmonary embolism) and my doctor is aware of it and will take all the necessary precautions, and watch closely for signs of my blood thickening. Good luck!!!

Look at all those big losers out there!! LOL You guys are doing awesome. Those who have maintained, you sound like you know why, and we all have tough weeks and months. The next week and month will be big for you!! We are all succeeding beyond our wildest dreams!! Big numbers, big totals, big losses. No other group has this kind of energy here and I LOVE IT!! You guys are all awesome!
  16. I have a question. It is a silly one, but I really want to know. Did they put massagers on your legs after your surgery? I am really curious. Cause i love the idea of getting massaged after surgery. LOL I know I might need them because of my history with blood clots, but I love how they feel. I was actually thinking of buying my own. But if he uses them anyway I won't shell out the cash. Thanks!!! My surgery is on the 10th of July. Its getting close and I am so excited!!!

Danger In Bagged Salad - Please Read

I lived in washington when the ecoli breakout happened at Jack in the Box. It was so sad to see all those people sick on the news, and to hear about that little girl dying. Ecoli scares me because of seeing that, and they said that Dole has recalled Classic Romaine. But they did not say which number run, or what dates they recalled. I have two bags of it sitting in my fridge right now.

    Pre-op tests for Self-Pay Patients

I have united health care, and though all I had done was blood work, they coded it for preop tests. United health care had no problems paying it. They have no idea what sort of surgery i am having.

    Obesity Off / Belighter

I think coordinators are a good thing, when they do their jobs right. I am ecstatic with ready4achange.com and them setting up everything for Dr. Sanchez. They have been there for me to talk to, get info from, they have been patient and happy to change my dates around to make it work. I think they are great!! But I hear ya on what these people did. It is awful. I guess you have to check out the coordinators as much as you check out the surgeons when dealling with going overseas.
  20. I know they were flaky at times, but they were nice to have. Where did they go? Can we have them back?
  21. congratz! What was goal? What was your starting point? When were you banded? How did it go? Have you had any plastic surgery? You look great!!

310 (-62 lbs total, -10 this week) I think if the preop diet goes well there is a good chance I will be at my surgery goal date for sure! I really want to be in twoterville at surgery time. I didn't think it was possible, but i also didn't think this kind of weight loss was possible. It almost scares me! LOL But I am sure my body is just really tired of being this size. When I start being healthy, it melts the weight off of me.

GFG Club - Guess Funny's Apron Weight

I am glad you came back. You might want to post a question to Dr. C in the complications thread. He might have some ideas, and knows a heck of a lot more about anatomy than I do. He might know what nerves the apron might be pinching. I am so sorry to hear about the pain you are exp. I hope you are right that I will do well. I struggle a lot. But this is a great support system here, and you will find there are a lot of people here with exp similar to yours. You should also check out the gone for good club, and join up. They are great motivation for losing weight, whether you are banded or not. You might be able to lose some before you get to the point where you can afford the surgery. it is what I did and I am down 52+ pounds. Good luck, and thank you so much for the prayers. It means a great deal to me.

    OT: Recent Movies

i hear ya on the tv programming for kids. Although we do not do PBS we definitely do not watch cartoon network. It is way too violent, and I hate most of the cartoons on there. When we lived in washington there was this great channel called boomerang that was owned by the cartoon network. It was all the old cartoons like flintstones and popeye and tom and jerry and yogi bear. The kids loved that. But we don't have that here. Nickelodeon is ok for most of their shows. Nicktoons channel has more of the adult and gross shows that sometimes I don't like my kids watching. But the channel they really love is Noggin. Their slogan is "its like preschool on your television" and they are pretty right on. Great educational shows, and the kids really love them. I actually have a fear of Elmo. and I am dead serious, although I think every mother has a slight tinge of this fear. but i have had horrid nightmares of that little red freak and can't stand to even hear his voice. LOL So we do not watch pbs.
