4th of July/ Summer Exchange Thank You Thread

Jenna, I have gone through bottles of the stuff. LOL And it has gotten to the point where DH actually gives me thr whole scent line, in double form, every christmas. It has become one of his traditions. Its like giving lingerie...its more a gift for him. But when I do wear it I constantly have people ask me what scent it is I am wearing. it is so light, and sweet, without that heavy perfume smell.
  2. Kare, that is a great letter!! I have tried to explain this to some girlfriends. I think some jsut don't get it. As for tired old man's av...yeah...a bit fitting in this thread I have to say. Kat, if it helps there are some other things that can help to make it more pleasant. If you want there are lotions and potions you can put on DH that make the skin taste good...so it is a real treat. And can I get an AMEN for pineapple, girls? Feed your man as much pineapple as you can get your hands on. It turns him into a candy factory. LOL
  3. I have been dieting and trying to lose as much as possible before being banded. I am on an all liquid diet that is high in Protein and low in carbs (I am getting about 30g a day) until my surgery on July 10th. I have been noticing some things going on with my mind since I started. Let me preface by saying I am working quite hard currently to make up for the lack of time put in while I am in Mexico. I have been putting in at least 14 hours a day, and my job is graphics design in front of the computer here at home. Something I have noticed is that my spelling and typing has diminished greatly. Words I used to know how to spell I have to look up. no joke. I have dictionary.com in my favorites now. And I am speaking of simple words sometimes. I do not know if it is my being overworked, or if it is something going on with my brain because of my diet. Is there something I might be missing in my diet that could be affecting my brain functions? This worries me because, while I hate bad spelling, it could lead to other things. I have also noticed that when I am typing, not only do I misspell words, but I have to retype words because I am hitting the keys in the wrong order. Any insight is appreciated. I am hoping it is just work related and will go away once my stress is gone, but if diet can affect your brain functions then I want to make sure i am getting the right nutrients to combat this. Now and after I am banded. Thanks so much!! I appreciate your being here. You have such a positive view point on the band, and seem to really care about making sure that your patients and others here are doing the right thing!! That is awesome!!

    Summer Time with Kids

After reading this, and all the work I have been doing lately, I took our kids for a walk to the park today. they loved it. And when they came home the promtly passed out on their backs on the huge floor pillow positioned right under the ceiling fan. My daughter still hasn't woken up. LOL

    New diet i found

Well I thought that it was pretty clear what my intentions were before, but we have seen that is not the case. I do admit that fastracking myself towards my goal weight for surgery was really inspiring. It made me feel good, and has made my surgeon really happy.

    New diet i found

diedre 5 pounds!! that is awesome!! I too agree that it is not a way of life. I want everyone to be clear that I am not suggesting it as that. this was more for a boost, a preop diet, a plateau breaker, a swift kick in the fat-pants. LOL Which ever you use it for, I hope it works for you.

Warning From The Florida Dept Of Fish And Wildlife

OMG 3loves that was hilarious!!! You had me going since i live in Florida. I was hoping there was good info there. All I kept thinking through the post is "wouldn't those attract a gator?" LOL
  10. There are so many things that could mean...you might get the raunchiest answer. LOL Are you sure you want to ask that question?

    New diet i found

The weight continued to drop for me. Just make sure that you eat a bowl of the soup first, and get beef that is lean and not marbled. What I did was get little thin steaks that were very lean, and about a little bigger than a deck of cards. I would make those up easily. I also kept boiled chicken breasts in the fridge for a snack, substituting the beef with chicken. As you know, your appetite is totally gone with this diet, and if you eat a bowl of soup first, you are going to find you only have room for a healthy portion of steak. I have been doing NO fruit juice. I love water. So I am using that as my liquid. Fruit juice makes me want more, and that is sugar and cals i can do without personally. Y'all are kickin butt!!!

    New diet i found

You guys are cracking me up!! Keep in mind ladies and gents that even a pound a day weight loss is HUGE!! the massive amount of weight loss can be but at this calorie count a pound a day is def fat. just make sure you all are getting your workouts in. That makes a huge difference!! I have still kept off the weight that I lost with this, and am still losing with the preop diet I am on. I can't wait to start the diet again. The soup is great for when you are feeling hungry. I agree that this diet makes your appetite go away, and I had more energy on it without taking in to many carbs. You guys are doing great!! I am glad this soup is helping so many people lose some and break their plateaus. Be sure to check with your doctor if you question the nutritional content of the diet. They may have some revisions to make depending on your situation. Good luck all!!!

July is so close!!! I am so excited I think I might puke! I am taking pictures today. I have done a few other pics. I will be adding them to my website that I am making for my weightloss.

From What Tree Did you Fall?

CYPRESS TREE (Faithfulness) -- strong, muscular, adaptable, takes what life has to give but doesn't necessarily like it, strives to be content, optimistic, wants to be financially independent, wants love and affection, hates loneliness, passionate lover which cannot be satisfied, faithful, quick-tempered at times, can be unruly and careless, loves to gain knowledge, needs to be needed. This is interesting. The cypress is my favorite tree on the face of this green earth. and it pretty much pegged me...even the parts I don't like. LOL This is DH's FIR TREE (Mysterious) -- extraordinary taste, handles stress well, loves anything beautiful, stubborn, tends to care for those close to them, hard to trust others, yet a social butterfly, likes idleness and laziness after long demanding hours at work, rather modest, talented, unselfish, many friends, very reliable. Very true except for the social butterfly part. He is not a social butterfly, and does not have a ton of friends, but he longs to.

Gone for Good Club - June 2006

I will still be weighing in on a regular basis. On wednesdays like usual. And i will save my momento from mexico for the next Gone For Good Challenge. I will start a July GFG thread for us to support each other in, and chat, and check in for on wednesdays, and handle the totals. Even if the challenge is not there. We will all take a break and try again in August. If Pnut is still not having the time by august, I will take it up as well. Work will be slow and I will be able to focus on it. I want to offer a special thanks to pnut for all the hard work and dedication that she has put in thus far to providing the Gone For Good club a great place to converse, and a really great challenge to lose weight with. You have been great! And there aren't enough thanks for the hours you have spent working on this.

Dr. C. is my brain being affected??

LOL I hate it when I misspell words. And it frustrates me when I switch letters around, erase the word, try again only to find that I have done it again. LOL Thank you Dr. C. I had an appt with my pcp about a week ago, and mentioned it to him. He said it was stress, but seriously said "I don't know how your diet would effect your thinking" Jeez doc...have you been eating much lately? LOL I will give him a call again though, just to make sure things are good. Thanks for the help you guys. Some good information here. My caloric intake has been betweek 500 and 1000 cals a day lately. I have been switching it up to optimize my weight loss.
  19. Oh yeah. Forgot to comment. LOL Because I am getting banded in Mexico I will be going to a local surgeon to get my fills and post op support. I have been told by other patients that the surgeon is the one to do the fills, and there is a nurse present to help out.
  20. Wow you are so lucky!! LOL I guess you never have to worry about fill costs for the rest of your life. What a bonus!!

    Star Jones is SOOOO BUSTED!!!!!!

Its just not wise to cross Babs. LOL That woman has connections!! Should we add Star's tabloid pic to the scar stages thread? They are doing GB by way of laparoscopic surgery now in some clinics. I know my fill doc here in Florida does them. So just because she has the scars doesn't mean it was the band. But the larger scar near the top looks awfully similar to a port scar.

Dr. C. is my brain being affected??

I am not so low that I am in ketosis, but I am sure that something is going on. I have been between 30-50g a day for a while now. My carbs come from milk, fruit and veggies. I haven't had any bread in forever, nor have i had any sugar rich food. I don't know how long it would take for those brain issues to develop, but this is just in the last week or so that I have been experiencing this.

    Honesty is the best policy

It seems his name has been tossed around here before, and he is a memeber of this board. I did a search on google and came up with this other thread from a year ago. http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7168 I think it is just best for people to do a lot of research on their doctors, whether it is for fills, the surgery itself, or even their nutrition and psych consults. I do not know anything about this guy, but personally there is enough stuff on the net about him to make me nervous enough not to go to him. But everyone must make their own choices.

Would paying for someone else's band be offensive?

man...my mother in law is like that. A feeder i mean. We will go to visit her, and no matter what time we come in there is a chicken casserole in the oven and a cheesecake in the fridge. She will ask you, "Are you hungry? Can I make you something?" If you say no she will still make you a sandwich or two and say "just have this". then she blamed me during college when Rob put on weight!! LOL And if you do not eat everything at dinner she thinks you are saving room for dessert. she can whip up food faster than anyone I have seen too. Every morning we are there she has biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, pancakes ready. lunch is leftovers reheated and sandwiches. Dinner is whatever you want. She will often make different meals for each person. it is like being at a restaurant 24 hours a day. LOL and christmas and thanksgiving is crazy!! If the whole family shows it is a total of 12 people. that includes 4 kids. She will find the biggest turkey she can, usually around 20 pounds, and on christmas she will have a ham too. I can't eat baked ham...it makes me violently ill for some reason, so she cooks a huge turkey just for my father in law and I. He has the same problem with baked ham. LOL We keep telling her a little chicken will do, but no...she has to do a huge turkey. then sends us all home with tons of leftovers. She is that way because of my husband and his brother. they are picky eaters, and che caters to them. banana bread...two loaves with nuts, two loaves without. because jimmy likes it with nuts and rob likes it without. jimmy like apple pie and pecan pie, rob likes cheesecake. so during the holidays she makes two of each. I swear you could put on 10 pounds over a weekend with that woman. LOL

swimming is an awesome workout!! I used to be on the swim team when I was in highschool. that paired with the crew team had me lean and strong. I was loving it. Early mornings in the shell on the lake, afternoons swimming for 2.5 hours. Can you tell i like water?
