How many ultrasounds have you been privy to, or blood test have you seen taken, that shows abnormalities but end up being wrong? Heck, both of my kids were identified as being the wrong sex. LOL You would rather they suck the brains out of the baby as it is being born rather than let it be born and assess the situation after? Besides, most of the abnormalities you speak of would not subject the mother, or guardian, to raise a baby for years. The child would pass shortly after birth if it had such traumatic issues. For instance, while we might find that most of the people we deal with in life seem to not have a brain, when a baby is born "without one" medically speaking it is already dead. Nothing survives without its brain. But again, its little life is not trumping anyone elses. The mom can walk away. The little one's life is on its own, and has a right to try and survive.

actually, not well said. it is all based on the fact that the woman will be stuck with the child. In this country we have the right to give up our children. I could walk into the courts tomorrow and give up my two kids. If she is giving birth to the child, instead of killing it, why not take it away and let someone who will want to care for the child do so? There are many out there who do this sort of thing. But instead you want the woman to make the choice of killing the baby? Is it more shameful to give it up? If the baby is being born, let it be born. The woman is not trapped. she can walk away if she chooses.

Emily is a perfect example actually. when she was born her brachial nerve was torn, and the doctors told us she would never be able to use it. they wanted to amputate it. We refused, and continued to work with it. She now has limited mobility, and some strength. Her arm will never be the same as her right arm, and she will never be able to participate in a lot of sports and activities. But the docs said her arm was doomed. that nothing could be done. What about the babies that the doctors feel will never lead a happy life because of mental retardation or deformity? Who knows how that child will develop? Who knows if that child will exceed all expectations? Why should we make that call before birth? And why should we be allowed to kill something that has a chance to be something great?

To you the issue of my daughter's arm could not be that big of a deal. But there are others that would argue that if she is not wholly intact or healthy then she will not lead a happy productive life. That is the issue. Who determines who is in enough pain to die? What if one person would gladly live with the pain just to live? You would take that away from someone?? As for the mother issue...think about it. i am not making an argument towards barbaric practice or anything. I am simply stating a fact. If the baby is being delivered, any issue that is being caused to the mother will end when that baby is delivered. So why kill it when it is partially delivered? Why not deliver it fully and see if it lives? Any issue going on with the mother is at an end the moment the baby's body leaves the mother's, whether it is alive or not. The only reason to kill the baby at this point would be for emotional reasons, or to eliviate the need for the mother to care for a baby. If there is a medical condition causing the mother to be sick due to the pregnancy, killing the baby during the delivery does nothing to change the effect that the delivery would have on the mother. There is just no reason to do it.

LOL I LOVE your idea of putting welfare recipients to work in place of the illegals. After all. Those on welfare complain that there is no work around. If we take care of the alien issue then there will be plenty of work available!! LOL

Oh, and on the life of pain side.... Who is that decision left up to? Who decides what level of pain is enough or not to warrant death? What level of imperfection decides if a child lives? My daughter was born with a paralyzed arm. She will never be able to do ballet, or swing on a jungle gym, or play baseball. It will cause her problems for the rest of her life. Should she have died because of this?

Well, I guess then your view on it does not mean much, because that situation would never happen. This procedure kills the baby as it is being delivered. If the baby can be delivered enough to where they can stab it in the skull and scramble the brains then it can be delivered fully. The effect on the mother would be exactly the same, physically. The baby still gets delivered, whether it is killed or not. If it is being delivered whatever issue there is with the mom physically is being taken care of by the delivery of the baby. why kill it in the process? there is no reason other than to just kill it. The mother's health, at this point, is no issue and should not be used as a determining factor in whether the baby dies or not.

Oh, and the english thing just gets me. This is america. Our national language is English. Just because we have a lot of people from other countries does not mean that our national language should be changed. One of my college classes had a woman in it who wrote an essay on how Spanish needed to be recognized as an official language of the United States. Her reason? Because we have so many illegal aliens that need to feel welcome from Mexico. That many signs and govt offices already use the language, that we need to officially make it a second language of the country, and force children to learn it so everyone is bilingual. um....no. this is my home. I am a resident. Why should I be forced to learn a new language because the people who are breaking the law and sneaking into this country illegally won't take the time to learn the language of the country they are breaking into? There is absolutely no reason why special concideration should be paid to anyone who is here illegally. Political refuge I can understand, and they need to go through the proper channels and complete the proper tasks. Like I have said, you do it right and according to law? WELCOME TO THE US! You break the law and try to cheat? Go back. There are more deserving people that need our time and energy.

We are the great melting pot. And everyone is welcome to come to this country to find a better life. But it needs to be done legally. Those who come here illegally and abuse the system make it harder for those who wish to follow the rules obtain their citizenship. Its very sad. And companies that pander to aliens are just making things worse. Bank of America wanting to give them bank accounts and visa cards so they can have the same sort of purchasing power? WHY? I used to work at a temp agency when i was in high school, and one job they sent me out to was for a cookware company. WAY over priced cookware (pots and pans) that you had to finance. Everyone got approved, but you had to pay for 90% of it up front. I worked in the filing section and found that they were reusing SSNs and financing aliens to create a false credit history. The 90% amount they paid upfront was their fee to create this background history for them. A set of pots and pans that cost 7 grand? yeah...something is not right there. The moment i found out I quit, and called the feds. the govt shut the entire business down within 3 days. Our borders should be more secure, and our laws (current laws) should be enforced. And those that wish to come to this country should follow the rules and become a legal alien. Period. If you do not follow the rules you have broken the law and must be sent back without question.

I say, proudly, that i am a republican (SHOCK). BUT! I am not proud of my party. And there are many republican representatives out there that feel the same way and are trying to change things. Giuliani is one of those, and I for one could back him completely. of course, no two people will feel exactly the same way. When I vote, I try to vote for the person that mirrors my wants and needs as much as possible. On specific issues, i vote depending on the issue. That is all anyone can do. But I do vote, and I vote my mind. I do not let my party, or anyone else, affect my vote in anyway.

in our neighborhood no one is allowed to do work on the weekends either. but that is a neighborhood rule.

well then this whole situation should not be getting to you. if he screws up he screws up. send him and her a card when they finally get married, with a $10 gift card to walmart.

I agree, it should be cut and dry. if the baby's life is a life when it is wanted, it should not be considered non-life if it is unwanted. it still might have the same value to others that would be touched by that life. its like valuing something that is up for auction...sort of like one man's trash is another man's treasure. Someone out there would want that baby even if the mother doesn't, and therefore it should be given the chance to survive.

we have Brighthouse cable, and our phone, internet and cable are all bundled into one. i can also pay my bill through the tv. its really great! I pay 200 bucks a month and i have high speed cable internet, cable phone with no long distance charges, and every channel on cable, including High Def and DVR.

my husband's parents knew each other a week. His mom always told her friends and family that she would never get married because she liked her last name. one day at the county fair a bluegrass band came to play, and she met Fred Davis. Same last name. They dated every night for a week, and got married. they have been together for over 50 years, and have the most amazing relationship ever! You just never know.

plan for the worst. hope for the best. be smiles and all when you are around them, and hope that it will be a good marriage. you never know, it could be the best marriage on the planet. only time will tell and until then if you go into this with a sour outlook it could convey to them. it might drive a wedge between you all, and that would not be good.

our neighbor is doing an addition. we have a rule in the neighborhood that no work is to be done on weekends or in the mornings before 9am, they started the circular saws this morning at 7am. i was pissed, and went onto my porch off the master bedroom, naked, and yelled at them. i am not sure whether it was the shock of me naked, or the profanity i used, but they did not use the saw again until 9am.

sadly, most of american's get their knowledge from the tv as well.

I NEVER give to a charity that calls me. 99% of them are scams, and you never see the money. NEVER trust the police and fireman donations. You want to donate to the police of firemen? Call them yourself and ask where to show up. If you give money over the phone to someone who called your house i can bet you that none of it is seen by the people who need it.

when i was a kid i loved sticking the big black ones on my fingers and scare my cousin. lol

we have caller id that comes up on our tv. since it is ALWAYS on, if the phone rings, i look at the screen, and if i do not know the number i do not answer. if they call one of my many business lines i tell them they have contacted a business and that shuts them down. the cell phone calls really tick me off. not because of minutes, because i have flat rate with no minute usage, but i just don't need it! i understand that the people who are calling are just doing their jobs, but i am vulgar to them. for most companies, i am taken off the list quickly.

my husband is like that. he won't get near me if i have olive breath. but those who like olives usually love olives. and when you drink with olives, you find there are creative things that can be done. they have blue cheese stuffed olives, olives stuffed with almonds, olives and pimentos, olives and other sorts of cheese. put into a drink, it really adds to the flavor. plus it is a great tool for flirting. hehehe

ah....you mean nudity then. public nudity. well, it is mainly because we, as americans, are tight assed and worried that someone might be offended. hehehehe
