Gone for Good Club - July 2006
FunnyDuddies replied to FunnyDuddies's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there all! Last day of the July Gone For Good Club! It is time to hand the reins off to someone else, or back to Pnut. I know Pnut is really busy with fun stuff at home, so I am not sure if she will see this in time to start the next thread. I am going to be out of town a lot next month, and will not be a good one to run the challenge. Is there anyone who would like to volunteer? It means weekly updates, running the challenge, and being a motivator! Something that Pnut is the best at, I tried to do (LOL), and I know that half this group is fully capable of doing. Thanks guys!! -
Welcome Tricia!! I will add you to the Wish List soon. I also have a few corrections and other additions to do. I just need to find the time to spend to do it. I am just popping on quick to update how many days left. See you all soon!! Hope everyone is working on those Christmas Cards!! LOL

Lapbandtalk Cruise 2007!!! Official Sign Up And News

I think we should all bring four bottles of water on board, in case we need to share with anyone who gets their bottle confiscated. -
I choose to not take the "menu" point of view, because with 2 small kids it is hard for me to figure out a menu. What i like to do is just figure on how much I am going to eat, and try to make a majority of it protein. I also have 2 fruits and 3 veggies I HAVE to get in throughout the day. So When I make meals for the kids, I will have one egg, some cottage cheese, or yogurt. I will have a piece of fruit for a snack. For lunch I will have some lean fish or chicken and a small salad with vinegar and oil. One more fruit snack. For dinner I usually have a small piece of whatever protein we are having, and I always serve two veggies with my dinners, so I have my last two veggie servings at this point. I then treat myself to some sort of dessert. Either a sugar free jello, pudding, popcicle or fudgecicle. I really try to not focus on food so much. If i do I get obsessed.

FunnyDuddies replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The shoulder pain is a result of the stomach gas. It is the refered pain from the pressure on the diaphram. -

Do you think they might find me strange if I come on board with a suitcase full of nothing but Evian bottles? I am a bandster...I need my water. :bananapartyhat: -
Yup, hiccups mean to me that I am full. If I get a hiccup when i am not eating or drinking, I know it means that I am doing too much work, or that my diaphram is not happy with the bending over I have just done.
-
LOL I do feel sorry for you. That is a long time to go. But just remember that it is not forever, no matter how much it seems like it. Mix up some SF jello for a sweet treat. Or get some SF popcicles. And try to take it easy and not think about food so much. I know it seems hard to do, but I know you can do it. You are almost over the hardest part.

About that gas and shoulder pain...
FunnyDuddies replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes the stomach swells, and is possible still full of gas. I am 3 weeks out and i am still swollen over my port. The gas takes time. And if the doctor did not try to remove most of it (which might be the case if your stomach is still sticking out) then that might be why you still have pain. As for walking to get it out, try walking at least 5-10 minutes every hour. You can also do the 20 minute workout walk, but get up every hour and move move move. That will get rid of the gas. -
OMG I am about to pee my pants reading this!!! All of these are true, and it makes me so proud that I understand and agree with every single one of them! LOL

HELP!!! In pain and don't know what to do...
FunnyDuddies replied to Bensmum1109's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are having pain that badly, go to the ER. Bring the kid. You definitely should go. Searing pain is a bad thing no matter where you are having it and should not be ignored. The ER staff have people come in with children all the time, and they understand you have no other option. they will help you with him. -
Medic Alert Bracelets - Are they recommended?
FunnyDuddies replied to Diva Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I actually asked my brother in law about this, and he said that something that looks like jewelry will NOT get looked at. He is an EMT and a Doctor, and has been for the last 20 years. He said that it needs to have at least the shape of the original medic alert bracelets, if not the ones with the red cross on it. Anything else does not catch the eye in time of an emergency. He also said it should have your name on it, an emrgency phone or your doctor's phone number, and that you have Adjustable Gastric Band. I plan on getting a silver medic alert bracelet, without the red cross though. Instead it is an embossed cross. Still recognizable, and it will just look like I am wearing a bracelet. -

Can a fill needle puncture the band?
FunnyDuddies replied to Maria40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Flouro is the only way to ensure that the person oing the fill can see the process perfectly. It is the only way that I will have a fill done. But there are some things to concider in your situation. A fill is not supposed to be variable, but your stomach is a variable. One day it could be swollen and irritated, making you tighter, the next day it could be thin and easy, making it easy for you to eat anything. It changes day by day depending on your changing hormones, hydration level, what your recent diet has been, and if there has been any trauma to the stomach (like a fill). The digestive system is EXTREMELY sensitive, nd shuts down, slows down, and changes due to the slightest upset from any source. While it is smart for you to determine how much fill is in there, you should also just keep the other situations in mind. You may feel wide open, and then eat something spicy and slam tight for 2 or 3 days. You never know. When your doctor does a fill, according to Inamed, they are supposed to pull all of the fill out to ensure they know exactly how much is in there. They should NOT be going off of a record and just remiving or adding their bit and leaving it at that. You could have had a fill or unfill somewhere else and not told them. Or you could have a leak and they would not know. They should withdraw, and inject the Fluid a few times to make sure they can see exactly how much of a fill is going to end up in the band and how much was there to begin with. This is the really good way of ensuring you do not have a leak. -
Cheating - what if...
FunnyDuddies replied to Leila's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If it was with someone that I really wanted, or one of those few truly perfect famous people that I lust after so much, it wouldn't be cheating, since cheating involves not telling the other person...I could not keep it from my husband. I would be bragging too much. LOL "woohoo!!! Guess who I just got it on with!!" -
