I lost something very important today
fletcher97701 replied to MusicMan2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry, I was a dog owner and he was my love! Animals are amazing and healing, and when the world turns against you, a loyal friend you would always have. I believe there is a special place for our animals once they pass so keep smiling and you will be reunited again one day! Prayers to you and RIP Pedro! -
Did anyone smoke when they had surgery
fletcher97701 replied to Wendy B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit smoking one year ago and since my doctor knew that he did three labs all the way until the day before surgery! I had actually thought about having one one night when I went out like two weeks before surgery but the thought of coming all this way and that ruining me having surgery scared me and I didn't! I am not sure if they do labs like that in Mexico? -
I am ten days out and on liquids. I finally couldn't take shakes anymore and i had 2 oz of refried beans and then couple hours later some tuna. I just was starving and so weak and energyless and needed some protien besides shakes! I just want to cry I feel like I am a loser and even surgery can't keep me from eating! Please tell me someone has done this and how did you stop once you started? And some ideas on protein shakes I am so burnt out on vanilla with crystal light! Thanks

1 day after surgery
fletcher97701 replied to Lissap3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am out three days and today I feel okay. I was banded on Wednesday the 11th and stayed one night. My first day home I got nauseous and threw up because of pain meds it was horrible! I cant take pain meds since they are in liquid form and make me want to vomit! I was so upset yesterday and felt I had made a big mistake but today I started passing gas and feel a little better! So hang in there! -
I am bi-polar I have I was diagnosed when I was five and have had my whole life to get it under control. I see a regular therapist and I have to go see him and get a letter saying I am fine. And I am happy life is great and having some doctor I have only met once say I am delusional was so upsetting! I paid him 200 even though I have insurance and as I was doing my written test he left for over an hour running errands???? I just really hope that my insurance doesn't deny me because of this idiot's diagnosis!! This six months has been so hard jumping through hoops and paying alot of money to do it! Send positive energy my way, I am ready to change my life, I hope insurance thinks so!

I got called to my surgeons office this morning and as i watch him reading a document i see the words pysch eval and my stomach dropped! he the says the doctor who did my eval recommends six months of therapy before my surgery! why because i am delusional about my happiness because i am bi polar and i guess i have to be depressed or manic cant be even! I now have to get a note from my regular pysch doctor and start counseling with a women they referred which is fine and my surgeon said he wont deny my surgery but what about my insurance? The funny thing is the doctor who said i was delusional weighed about 375 and was eating mcdonalds while talking with me.........IRONIC?

So I had my pysch eval and I am so nervous!!! I see a counselor on a regular basic as I am bi-polar was diagnosed when I was five and have had my whole life to figure out how to control it! I am on meds and steady and my life is amazing. I am in a very good relationship he is so supportive of my surgery and I have never been in a better place mentally and I am ready to get healthy physically. So my appointment was 2 1/2 hours of that was 1 1/2 hours of strange tests replacing number sequences, and I felt like I was in school again. So the doctor left while I was taking my tests and ran errands, weird I thought. On my test he had written things about me which were good, said I was intelligent and well spoken, then wrote euphoric with a ? mark and that I talk to fast. So when you are bi-polar you can be manic and have bursts of energy that lead to a crash, and I am afraid that is what he thought. I was nervous to have some one evaulating me and having the power to say you are not ready for this surgery! I am so stressed out and one more thing to freak out about!!! Did everyone pass there eval?

Approved record time BCBS!
fletcher97701 replied to Brandy~'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Brandy.....Thanks for all the info I am so excited for you! I am also in Oregon, Bend and I am hopefully having mine in June (that's when we will submit to insurance) I am so tired of doctor's appointments, I had to have 6 months supervised diet, Sleep study, EKG, Labs, Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Psych Evaluation and finally Nutriton Eval......Oh my gosh I stress about doctor's appointments and if I am gonna get approved, I am breaking out in zits and my nervous habit is to chew on my fingers, I AM FREAKING OUT! Please tell me until you were approved you were doing the same! -
I have BCBS of Minnesota and my insurance doesn't actually start until 4/1/08 but I started my six month supervised diet in January and hope to submit to my insurance by June. My surgeon and his office has been amazing! I haven't even met with him yet and his coordinator has been by my side with all questions for the last three months. I meet with him on Thursday the 4th!! I have been doing my six month diet and when I did my first way in my BMI was low because I had lost 8 pounds it took me three months to get that weight off. So I am worried about that my BMI was 39.1. But I have diabetes and heart disease on both sides (my aunt just died 3 weeks ago of heart attack from complications from diabetes she weighed 450 pounds when she died) And I have a bad muscle diseasein both calves that makes it hard to walk and my doctors have written letters stating that I need this surgery to improve my mobility. Has anyone else had a low BMI and what was the outcome?

Bcbs Minnesota????
fletcher97701 replied to fletcher97701's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my surgeon says that BCBS should be fine since I have been overweight my whole life, they reassured me that I am right on track! So I hope all goes well. The doctor's office was so impressive my surgeon held my hand and said "has anyone ever told you it's not your fault that you are heavy?" I wanted to just burst into tears! He was just so understanding and every person that I spoke with was so positive! I knew that these were the people that were gonna see my through this experience. So I still have my pysch eval, endoscopy, sleep lab, two more visits with pcp, and nutritional eval and then we submit June 1st.......I will be so happy when I get this done and over with!!!! -
Approved record time BCBS!
fletcher97701 replied to Brandy~'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow that is such good news! I also have BCBS Minnesota and will be submitting to insurance on June 1st, and I stress every day on if they will approve it or not? My company has been bought out by another company and will most likely switch insurances when they take over late June early July! I am freaking out!! Thanks for sharing I have hope today!!!!
