How long did it take you to conceive?

I got banded 08/27/08, lost about 40 lbs, and decided to come off BC for the first time in almost 8 years in december last year. We didn't really try to hard the first two months, we had busy schedules and were on family trips so it wasn't convient. My periods also haven't even been regular, so we got the tests you pee on in febuary, did that for a month to atleast guesstimate when I ovulate, then went for it in March. We got pregnant, the day before St. Patricks day, the day itself, or the day after. *lol* Got a few positives the first week of April, and now at 11.5 weeks, EDD of 12/10/10.
  2. Congrats on your pregnancy! I found out a few weeks ago we're pregnant, and we're at 11.5 weeks I have the same problem with finding a doctor who'd take me, and I had my surgery done here in the states! I was banded in Texas, but we now live in Florida, and it's insane to try to find someone who'll do it. One doctor will, but I have to take all the classes most pre-bandsters take, plus pay $1,000 to get established. Insane! I figure I could drive the 10 hours to TX numerous times before I'd even reach that amount. *lol* So far I'm about 3.5-4 cc's in my 10 cc band, and haven't had to worry about a de-fill yet, but I'm sure time'll tell.

    Any advice is welcome!

Way to go on the weight loss! I got banded in '08 as well outside of Fort Hood, and I'm only down 40 lbs. I know that when I took the first two pregnancy tests - one the day before cycle was supposed tos tart, and one two days after - both were negative. I waited about five more days and gave it a try then, and it showed positive.

    Nausea...did you un-fill?

I'm 11.5 weeks pregnant now, and have had some nasty nauseau, but haven't gotten an unfill yet. (Mainly because my doctor is in TX and we now live in FL, lol) I only have about 3.5-4 cc's in my 10 cc band, so I'm hoping to just keep it where it's at, but time'll tell I'm sure. I have a hard time getting food down that doesn't want to make me hurl, so I'm pretty limited right now. I eat ice cream, appleasauce, smoothies (hubs makes them), Cookies.... all bad stuff. Red meat just started making me sick, chicken has done it from the get-go, and pork is a toss up, so I just play it by ear. So far I'm actually down about 6-7 lbs, so I haven't worried about any gain.

    Loose Skin!

I've yoyo'ed so much I already had a jelly roll, and now that I'm 35 lbs out, it's really saggy and I can't wait to get it cut off. My bat wings have always been bad as well, and actually bug me more than my stomach or thighs. My jelly roll hangs and gives me a heat/yeast rash constantly, and I've been told there is nothing that can be done until after I have kids since it'd be a waste of money. *lol* So I'm having to wait until then, as much as I hate it.
  6. I'm needing some advice. I had my first fill before we moved to FL (a month after surgery) and they put in 3 cc's to give me a total of 4 cc's. After we got here and I was finally able to get established with a doctor (which didn't happen until Jan and we got here in Oct!), I'd lost 1 cc, so he put it back in, so I was back at 4 cc's again. I've go ne in for 2 more fills an gotten .5 cc's at each to bring me to 5 cc's so far in my 10 cc band. My problem is that I've only lost 30 lbs so far - and granted, I'm really happy about it - but I've stayed at that weight loss since Jan/Feb! We forgot to do measurments on me before surgery, but I know I"m losing inches somewhere because I've gotten into pants that I couldn't fit into a month ago, but can this week - but my weight is the same. So I'm getting a bit frustrated, and when I get this I want to run to the fridge and gorge. I think I'm getting close to my "sweet spot" - or hope I am, how will I know? - because for example the other day, we were running late and I needed to eat something really fast (and it wasn't hte best, I know) so I warmed up a Lean Pocket. I cut it into 4 sections and was only able to eat the 2 middle, and even then I had the knot in my throat, but didnt throw up. Am I close? I've read people talking about the 10 day jump-start diet, but neither of my doctors have talked to me about it? I heard it helps you get your metabolism going again and back to losing weight, and I'm needing it. I'd love the info! Any help would be appreciated, I'm wanting to get to onederland this year so hubbs and I can talk 'baby'!

I've been stuck for 3 months!

I can honestly say I dont keep track of my calories, but I do keep track of what I eat - and it's not much. I eat Cereal, eggs or a shake for Breakfast. lunch is a sandwish or half a hot pocket, and dinner is whatever I end up making for me and the husband - tonight was spaghetti (made with 'no yolk' noodles) and green Beans. I've been walking our neighbood hood - and I just got back into it, I've had vertigo for going on almost 3 months now and they haven't figured out why, so it's been difficult to do much that doesn't require me to hold onto a wall to walk. *haha*

I've been stuck for 3 months!

I'm eating about every 4-5 hours, which my doctor said is what he was aiming for. He's not been very aggressive in my fills, so when he found out that's how often I was eating, I had to convince him to give me a fill last month because he said that's th amount of time he was aiming for. *lol*

    Saggy McSaggerson :)

Obviously I'm talking about saggy skin, and mine has been a huge issue this month. I'm only doen 30 lbs since surgery, but I've done the yo-yoing diets for so long that I have a "jelly roll" that is saggy and has gotten worse. Since the weight loss from the band, it's gotten so saggy that it's causing yeast rashes between my thighs and under the roll. Anyone else having this problem with such little weight loss? I know thre's not much that can be done yet unil I've lost the max weight, but its' gotten beyond annoying witht he rashes being there for almost a solid two months! I finally got into my regular doctor and he gave me some cream, and all I can do is keep my fingers crossed now.

    Saggy McSaggerson :)

*lol* Well talk about a kick in the stomach - I'm the only one who seems to have an issue. My Mom had the same issue after her gastric bypass - I've just got bad genes. *lol* Yea, thats what my Mom and doctors keep telling me - keep records! I'm going to have one heck of a time getting cosmetic surgery done with our civilian insurance, so I'm going to have to have all the help I can get! (After this month we no longer have military insurance, which is how I got the lapband done) I'm going to have to wait until we have kids anyway, so I'm stuck at waiting a few years - which is the disheartening part.

    Post your NSVs

    * My husband can wrap his arms around me - I didn't even notice it, he did! * Giving away all my 26, 24 and some 22 jeans. * Fitting into all of my old clothes but one pair of jeans that were my favotire - and the pair I met my husband in 5.5 years ago. * Getting into a pair of jeans I haven't worn in 5 years.

    Seventh time's a charm?

Out of the 6 months I've only had 4 fills! My doctors here (since we moved from Tx to Fl) like to make you wait 6 weeks between fills whereas my old doctor was 2-3 weeks. I really don' thave a problem waiting that 6 weeks, but if I know I'm not getting any restriction then I want another fill, but they'll make me wait. It's aggrivating when I go in and he's "you haven't lost any weight", well no joke! So out of my 10 cc band, I'm up to 4.5 cc's and I've got my last appt schedule with him for next month and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I hit the sweet spot or close to it.

    Anyone else?

Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I've posted, we've moved since surgery and it's been a while getting life back to "normal". I had a few questions: Has anyone has problems eating pork? chicken? I can eat the heck out of red meat (hamburger, even steak *yum*) But I up-chuck pork as soon as I get a bite down - and I've tried it more than once just to see if it was something I did that day or how I cooked it. Chicken I can only eat at that moment, if I have to reheat it, it's out - I ususally end up throwing it up as well. (Chicken tortilla Soup has been the only thing so far that hasn't made me do it) My new doctor was baffled by this because he said usually it'd be red meats t hat give bandsters a lot of issues. Also, since getting banded I crave sweets. Now I may be a fat kid, but I was never one to eat a lot of sweets - I prefered my Protein, so this has me for a loop. I really try to refrain, but I can be honest with myself and my doctor when I told him I do indulge and it's been really hard fighting the head hunger. But it's like something clicked in there and it's turned me into the "Cookie Monster" or something. Anyone else walking down "Seaseme Street"?
  14. MrsEOD_2004

    Anyone else?

Sorry I haven't replied back, we'd had several doctors appointments - my husband is trying for the band or bypass now! :tt2: Might as well get it before we don't have the Army's insurance anymore. *lol* I've never been a fish-eater, unless it was fried, but since we live here on the coast now I've been wanting to try stuff. I've started eating "naked shrimp" as a call it. *lol* And I'm sloooowly moving into eating seafood - it'll take a while. The canned chicken gets stuck with me more times than not (I mix it with the creamed spinach dip, so good!), but I haven' tried tuna yet - the idea of it maybe sticking and throwing it up scares me. *lol* I haven't had a problem with bread since I found one I can eat, and it happens to be a cheap bread from Walmart. Go figure. I did find out last night that I can't eat cabbage if it's been reheated - which is sad for me because I could eat that (and most greens) everyday. It immediatly clogged me up and within an episode of "Will & Grace" the husband was holding my hair while I was puking off the back porch. *lol* I haven't craved chips - but I wish I'd gone that route instead of teh sweets. But I do admit that I'm loving the Triscuit tomato, olive oil and garlic ones, we keep them in the house for a snake. I do have to admit that I'm glad I had to give up pork (we didn't eat much of it anyway) instead of steak. *lol*

Need a fill doctor in Florida

Hi! I'm needing a doctor in the panhandle to do my fills. Our military insurance runs out at the end of April (he got out in Oct., they give you 6 months) and needing to find someone for myself. I know about Dr. Lord and have talked tohis staff on the phone and wasn't impressed. I've been going on-post the last few months, and we just moved down here so I don't know anyone else in the area. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

The tennis balls do help, but I do have to admit they can be annoying at first - but give them a chance. It takes 20 minuts for your cerebral Fluid to travel from your brain thru your system, so thats really all you need to lay on them - make sure you're on the floor, not ona bed. Did they put you on a regular lasik or something like Diamox? Diamox does the same thing - but that stuff is annnnoying, but works like a charm. It makes carbonated drinks taste horrible, your fingers/toes tingle and obviously you go to the bathroom. I'm not sure what else they put people on, I'd do some research on them and maybe bring it up to them. I clenched my teeth a lot at first too, I went to Walmart and got me a tooth guard to wear at night, and it helped with those headaches. The Topomax really just keeps headaches away, before they turn into migraines. *lol* For some people it helps them lose weight as well - but I wasn't one of those lucky ones. *lol* Wow your opening pressure was high! Have you been having problems with your eyesight or anything? HOpefully you wont have to go back in for anymore - I hated getting the one I did, freaked me out! My pressure was borderline, but my optic nerve has been swollen this whole time, so they've kept treating me for the IIH. Keep up on the weight-loss, it'll do amazing things for the IIH!

    The "C" word: Constipation

I started having BM issues when I'd joined LA Weight Loss (9 months before I decided to get the band) and that's where everything got all screwed up on the inside and haven't been right since. *lol* I went two weeks without going and ended up getting anal fissures and hemorroids when I finally did. Now that I've got the band, the BM issues are the same and I have to take the Miralax or I'm in tears and can't sit down for a day. *lol* Good to know I wasn't the only one though... I was starting to think my potty hated me. *lol*

    NSV: Shoes

I used to wear a 8.5 in guys ((i'm flat-footed and obviously wear an 10-10.5 in girls *lol*)) and now I can get into a 7.5! It totally blew my mind this past weekend when I went to get new walking shoes.

I was diagnosed with psuedo tumor 5 years ago (I was 21), so I know how you feel. I've only had to have one spinal tap (::knocks on wood::thumbup:, and was able to come off of my Diamox within less than a year of being diagnosed and haven't been on 'em since. I take a daily dose of Topomax to keep the migraines at bay and always have my personal fav migraine med handy (right now it's Treximet) for when it flares up. My neuropothomologist gave me so much flack about losing weight when I first got diagnosed, and I tried... sort of. I love food, obviously. But with me keeping track of my "triggers" of what brings on my headaches, keeping an eye on the weather (bariatric pressure), taking the Topomax and losing the 25 lbs I have lost have done an amazing job so far. ((Oh, and have you tried laying on tennis balls? Put two in a sock and put it behind your head on the two knots at the base of your skull and lay on 'em for 20 minutes daily. A chirpractor has a thing that you can lay on you can buy that does the same thing, but I just used the tennis balls since I'd bought a new set for our dog. *lol*))

    Panhandle Bansters

Hello! My names Melissa and I was banded August 27, 2008 at in Temple, Texas (near Fort Hood). We just moved here here this past October when my husband got out of the Army and became and instructor at the EOD school. I've been researching doctors and have decided to go with Dr. Nye for my fills - I didn't like the idea of having to retake classes I've already done and pay $400 just to see Dr. Lord. We're also getting a referral for the Lapband for my husband for Dr. Nye - dang you PTSD and the weight causing meds! - and was hoping to hear from people who had used him. I talked to his insurance person today and she was really nice and put me at ease. I'm really looking forward to getting my second fill in since I was only able to get one before we moved here (which put me at 4cc's out of 10cc) and get back to losing weight! Melissa

    Killeen, Tx

Anyone else stationed / live here? I'm scheduled to get my band Aug 27th with Richard Symmonds in Temple. Melissa
  22. MrsEOD_2004

    Killeen/Ft Hood?

My doctor is off-post, but I'm guessing yours could write you a referral to a doctor to get it done? But I had to go to a conference at the Killeen Convention Center (you might be able to call and see when they have it) where they told us the steps to getting the surgery done at the Scott & White hospital in Temple. After that I got my counseling part done at Chupik & Assoc, made my appt to see the staff at the bariatric center at Scott & White, then my pre-op where I met everyone doing the surgery, then surgery itself. I know some people had to get extra tests done for other reasons, but mine was straight forward with nothing extra. I started this journey at the end of March and was banded at the end of August. Dr. Richard Symmonds did mine. Good luck!

    Killeen/Ft Hood?

Had posted in forever, so I figured I'd put that I did go through with surgery. *lol* I didn't get overly-nervous until they came in to take me to the OR, and thats when I panicked a bit. I did good though, and almost 5 weeks out I'm feeling great. (I'm still a bit sore from a road trip this weekend, but I think that's normal *lol*) I go for my first fill on the 7th, so I'm hoping to have even more restriction than what I seem to have now. So far I'm thinking I did the right thing. :cursing:

    Can we eat Pizza?

I had pizza last night and all I had to do was chew it really well. I got thin crust since bread has been giving me an issue, but it went down fine.

What are you doing when you hit goal?

I started out at 275, when I reach 225 I'm getting my hair colored and cut, and when I reach 200 husband is buying me another Coach purse. Now if I get my bottom goal of 150 I'll have to think of something really amazing for us to do.
