Why did you pick such a high goal weight? Your BMI is STILL overweight!
Tracyringo replied to Creekimp13's topic in Rants & Raves
Looks like we have same stats and I totally get it. When my weight is 165-170 I dont have as many wrinkles on my arms and face. I staying right at 158 ish and can tell the difference in those 10 lbs when it comes to skin and wrinkles being worse. I wear size 8 to 10 depending on the brand and you are right those BMI calculators are not one size fits all. My bariactric team says that even though I may be a 25 BMI you have to figure in the extra skin considering I lost over 150 lbs. -
Help I need answers
Tracyringo replied to Chch's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Unfortunately a lot of people are in the same boat after a revision. No restriction really stinks and is quite a shock when it is all said and done. We pretty much have a funnel where the food goes straight into the intestines, so the food just slides right on through is my understanding. What are you eating and how often ? I find I get more of a fullness feeling when I eat solid protein like steak or salmon. It really comes down to making the best choices you can in what you are eating and eating every 3 to 4 hours and make sure you dont drink until 30 min after a meal or you are just washing it out. -
You will be able to eat a taco again maybe even two. I can eat more with the RNY. Watch yourself.

DUMPING SYNDROME
Tracyringo replied to DonnaMariaConsuela (MGB)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a line on the cap that I didnt see so I always filled it to the top of the white line which would be a double dose. I was also told by my Dr. that it was okay to use everyday. I had been using colace 3x a day before the Miralax and having issues constantly. The Miralax has been a god send for sure. -
DUMPING SYNDROME
Tracyringo replied to DonnaMariaConsuela (MGB)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use generic miralax in my coffee EVERY morning. I had horrible issues and finally got it straightened out after years of horrible pain. If I miss my morning dose I have problems. I dont miss !!! Try it for a week solid. It turns out I was giving myself a db dose and not realizing it for several months but I actually need it. It really works. I have been pain free since July except for the one time I forgot !!! I had hemorrhoid surgery removal 3 years ago and it was the worst thing that has ever happened to me in my life and it solved nothing, they all came back, and the pain was barbaric. TORTURE of the worst kind. -
DUMPING SYNDROME
Tracyringo replied to DonnaMariaConsuela (MGB)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here but I would rather be a dumper then not. Dumping keeps me in check and considering I dont have restriction it is what keeps my weight stable. What did your Dr. say? -
Is it dumping syndrome if?
Tracyringo replied to amyseattle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I dont have that kind but what you described sounds like what I have heard from others. Be glad its not the painful one. Its awful. -
Eat the carbs in your potato, rice, and fruit. Unless your Dr. has told you otherwise. All plans are different and my plan didnt want me going full keto.

Hi !! So sorry you are going through this and I know EXACTLY how you feel !!! I had so much anxiety and fear for months after this revision wondering how I was going to not gain without my restriction. I was pretty flipped out but here I am 9 months later and the smallest I have ever been. Its crazy not to feel anything and very stressful but there is this thing called dumping that will keep you in line and believe me you dont want to mess with it ! Also the malabsorption of calories is a real thing ! I lost 12lbs the first month and I was at my original goal weight of 180 day of revision. I only lost 14lbs after my original surgery and I weighed 296 that day !! I could and can eat more with this surgery then my VSG but if I over eat I get violently ill ! It really sucked after having the revision but I must say it is better then the sleeve and if someone told me 9 months ago or 6 months ago I would be saying this I would have said NEVER and NO WAY !! Here I sit with no problem staying under 160 where I struggled just to stay at 170s with VSG. Love to hear what you think later down the road. Good luck

Speaking for myself it was a harder surgery. Maybe wont be as bad for you since you already have had RNY and I also had a hiatal repair at same time. I looked at my journal and at 2 weeks out I wrote that I only had pain in my right side when coughing or laughing mostly. You will do great !! -
Is dumping a big problem for you?
Tracyringo replied to Katja's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am a dumper and I cant vomit. I dump on carbs, dairy, and sugar or combos of the 3. No biscuit and gravy, no cereal, no ice cream. Things I dont need to eat anyway. I am a violent dumper too !!! It can go on for hours and its like having the worst stomach flu for me, but nothing will come back up. AWFUL. Overeating does the same thing. Guess that is why I dont have problems with trying to keep my weight down like I did with VSG. I have a friend who is not a dumper and can eat good size portions and has had a good amount of weight gain. Be careful this is NOT a restrictive surgery for revisions. She said she waited 2 years to try no no foods and since she doesnt dump she eating like before surgery. Good luck -

I am 9 months post revision to RNY. Things are good and I like the RNY much better then I did the first several months. I am weighing in at 156 this morning. It is much easier for me to maintain this weight then it was for me to stay under 170 with VSG. CRAZY but its true !! I just keep waiting for the ball to drop like what is the catch? I also wonder if there is a honeymoon phase with a revision ? -

Congrats on your success that is great losing 65 lbs !! Glad you are GERD free too ! Dumping is horrible so its a lot easier to maintain weight with the RNY at this point for me. -
So it been almost 9 months since my revision to RNY from VSG. I had erosive esophagitis D and as of this past Dec it has gone down to an A. I still take Dexilant 60 mg and as I sit here typing I am on fire !!! Just wondering if anyone else is still going through this after being revised. I take the strongest PPI available that I am aware of but I shouldnt have to be on this PPI after the revision but here I am !

VSG to RNY still have GERD
Tracyringo replied to Tracyringo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So I had same experience. I thought I was cured the fist month or so and then bam !! I think we were so swollen from the surgeries. We didnt feel it until healed, at least that is what I feel happened with me. What was your last EGD like before the revision? I read where the roux limb may be too short in an article online, but I have no idea and none of it makes sense. -
VSG to RNY still have GERD
Tracyringo replied to Tracyringo's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I would still get the revision because I had erosive esophagitis D. It has gone down to an A, so I shouldnt have to worry about getting cancer. I take 60mg Dexilant everyday plus carafate -
I already know I cant get off of mine at this point. I dont understand how I can be sitting up right but feel like I am on fire some days. What PPI do you take ?
-
Has your Gerd/Reflux cleared up? I had revision surgery in May and still have Gerd and am still on my PPI !!!

Pain in back between amd at shoulder blades
Tracyringo replied to aug62012's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My pain was left shoulder blade area and neck, they told me it was either gas or referral pain when I was in the hospital. It took a good few weeks for it to stop completely. -

Did you revise to RNY because of the GERD ? -

Yes I am sure it is water. I dump the same way and it is horrible. It usually takes about 2 hours to pass. I pretty much know what foods will trigger and episode or if I eat too much I will have one. AWFUL !!!! Do you know what triggers a dumping episode for you or does it change. I would not dump on pretzels. I dump on sweets of pretty much any kind if I eat more then a few bites. Cereal is a big no no for me as well. It has something to do with the cereal/ milk combination . Yet I can eat oatmeal ??????? LOL -

I was at Dr. office yesterday and they say its not unheard of for some of us to still have GERD. Its just rare but if I dont take my PPI I burn just like before the bypass. I am still going to be scheduled for the bravo test. I cant wait for these non believing Drs to see my test results !!! That being said I have to stay on this medicine unless they can figure out why this is happening. I sit, stand , walk it doesnt matter I burn just like before just not all day. I am so happy for you !! 61 pounds lost is great. Please tell me you are feeling better too !! What is your goal weight?
