  1. A whole sandwich is surely not on the plan. No bread or sugar until you reach goal. You will reach goal if you stick to the plan. I only lost 14 or 15 ibs my first month and by month 7 I was losing 6 to 7 lbs a month but I got there and its not easy. You can do this !!!

    Considering revision

I agree with greentealael and considering you dont have issues with GERD a DS may be better for you since you have more excess weight to lose. I would absolutely ask the surgeon his thought on it. No restriction on RNY for me after my revision but luckily I dump and cannot over eat without getting violently ill so it keeps me in check.

VERY SLOW WEIGHT LOSS PLEASE HELP

Your weight loss will be consistent. Follow your plan. The weight loss phase was the worst for me because it was slower then everyone else around me. I had to keep reminding myself it wasnt a race but my journey which would not be like everyone else. You will lose all the weight you want to lose if you stick to the plan and you will make it by your year kbrookings.

    Not Yet Decided: NEED HELP

I had to revise to bypass and I cannot vomit and I am also a dumper. One bite too many is just as bad for me as a dumping episode.

Pizza at 7 or 8 weeks?

I am a year out from my revision to RNY and can only eat half a slice. I ate a full slice once that sent me down for 2 hours🤢🙁. I do however make pizza bowls and they are delicious !!! ( all the toppings sauce and cheese oven baked)

    Abdominal binder

Love the binder as it helped when I coughed, laughed, and anything else that might have made my stomach move. I wore mine 2-4 weeks.
  7. I still have GERD after bypass and take 60mg Dexilant !!! Nothing else works for me. I have to take have the capsule in the morning and the other half at night or I am on fire

    Dumping Side Effects

I am almost a year revised next week and just got sick yesterday morning from eating breakfast, for me it doesnt matter what I eat if I take a bite too much I get sick and it varies from day to day. I also get sick if I eat the wrong things and believe me if you are a dumper it is awful and painful, at least this has been my experience with RNY. Everyone is different and you may not even be a dumper or have to worry. Good luck

    Any surgery regrets?

Part of me says I should have been able to do this without surgery but lets face it I didnt. I also didnt lose 40lbs before surgery like yourself. I will say this I am on meds that I will never be able to get off of now and that does cause me anxiety and still knowing all of this I would do it again because being morbidly obese consumed my life and thats one monkey off my back ! Good luck
  10. I am 52 and went through the change a few years ago. It has not made a difference in my case. Good luck on your journey !

    Grief/Alcohol

So sorry for your loss. Be careful with alcohol. I was revised almost a year ago and I rarely drank but it has developed into something else. It is not the same as before. The bypass has changed the way alcohol effects me and its more or less instant relaxation/gratification? I really cant explain it but I can tell you its no good. I do realize that some bypassers will still have no issues but I am not one of those. I start therapy soon. I had to reach out before something terrible happens. Good luck to you
  12. Your GP doesnt have weight issues I suspect. It takes willpower either way. You can eat red meat or anything else as long as you can tolerate it. Good luck to you.
  13. Immediately !! I coughed that whole first night after surgery and kept my roommate up it was so bad. I ended up having a revision 11 months ago because of esophagitis D and a hiatal hernia. I was afraid of getting the bypass too but as far as weight loss and maintaining it has been much easier. I honestly liked the sleeve better because of the restriction and being able to eat all foods, but the flip side of that was I constantly had to watch my weight and struggled just to stay around 170. I was 180 the day of my revision and this morning I weighed in at 150.8. This is the lowest I have ever been and usually maintain 155 to 159 with no stress. I had a temporary crown put on 2 weeks ago and dropped 8 lbs because I am not getting the food I usually eat because of pain. I go in on Monday for the permanent crown and am sure my weight will bounce back up. lol Good luck to you and whatever surgery you choose.

    Quitting Smoking Pre-Op

I used a non nicotine vape to help me quit for my surgery.
  15. I havent been losing much at this point nor do I want to. I lost 25lb more after the revision and have been maintaining it now for a good 6 to 8 months. I have noticed that if I dont eat a normal 3 times or more a day my weight will drop. I had a crown done a week ago and havent been able to eat on that side and dropped 7 lbs in a week!!! CRAZY
  16. So I am coming up on my year revision from VSG to RNY and wondering about the honeymoon phase discussed in virgin surgeries. I am wanting to know if the honeymoon phase is different in a revision or the same and when it ends? I honestly didnt feel like I had a honeymoon phase with VSG I worked hard to get to goal that first year and I never felt like the weight just came off and it was hard to maintain, but with this revision everything seems so much easier and I am 20lbs lighter and not struggling to maintain like I did with VSG. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Grazing

There is nothing wrong with finishing a meal through the day as long as you are not snacking outside of that meal. I truly believe that was part of the reason I made goal that first year. The sleeve is a lot more restrictive so you wont be able to finish the amount weighed out to eat, so I would go back when I was hungry and eat on that meal. I normally would finish breakfast. It was lunch and dinner that I would not be able to finish. So I really wasnt going over calories doing it this way either. Good luck
  18. To be quite honest I am glad to be a dumper because it makes me stay in check. The restriction I had with VSG kept me from overeating but the RNY dumping keeps me from eating bad foods and I have to watch my portion size or I will get sick as well.
  19. I guessing they told you to stay clear of cream of wheat and other cereals because those things can cause dumping in some RNY people like myself. I cannot eat cereal of any kind even high protein. I think for me it has something to do with the carbs and dairy combination. Scrambled eggs, tuna packets and cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, ricotta bake, soup. Good Luck !
  20. There is a thread in the revision section called I hate the bypass and it talks more in length with a great number of people discussing not having restriction after bypass. You are not alone.
  21. I feel your pain it is awful !!! Salmon did that to me last week but it was soooooo good until it wasnt !!! I cant vomit either so that does make it worse and it goes on for a few hours for me when it happens. I have that same awful pain if I eat the wrong things also.

    Bile reflux

I didnt want to have revision either. I still miss the restriction of the sleeve and I still have GERD and am on the same PPI I was on with VSG. I will be a year out from revision in May. I will say though the reflux is better and it appears the revision helped in the fact I went from esophagitis D to A, no barrets and cancer for me !!! I also lost more weight and have gotten to my lowest and its much easier so far to maintain then the sleeve. Good luck to you!!
