Should We Just "Accept Our Best Shot" and Not Be Bothered If We Don't Make Goal?
Apple203 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Rants & Raves
Jenn, did you lose all 115# in 6 months? It drives me a little nuts trying to assess the possibilities and expected rate of losses when there is no surgery weight in our profiles. /vent over, LOL -
Be safe...

Out With the Old--In With the New!
Apple203 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There were a few weeks there where my weigh-ins were very volatile compared to being rock steady the first month, and I do think it was the addition of wine and ramping up carbs too high. I will miss my wine, and will re-evaluate its presence in my life when I reach my goal. -

Nope, I kicked my glasses of banned wine to the curb again last Tues/Wed (can't remember exactly). Life goes on! -
Also, if you lose the average amount of 70% EBW, and assuming a goal weight of 130#, you will reach 156#. This means you are 60% there at 5 months!!
-
I totally agree with the others -- and I also play the game of calculating what I need to lose a month/week to reach my goals (both reasonable and stretch). Keep on truckin'!

Out With the Old--In With the New!

Gacking over bad local wine made me LOL -- I feel the same way about one local winery we go to now and then for events. Great events, beautiful place, bad wine, ha! -

I brought some yoga pants & t-shirts. I wore my sneakers when I walked around. -

I think that is a great idea, I hope the collective board can help identify a strategy to get you losing again. Its tough when you know there are "super-losers" and people that don't lose much at all. -
Just a quick note to say that my surgeon doesnt test for leaks. And some point he decided it wasn't worth it: rare, easily dxd, etc.

Can the surgeon leave more of the stomach if requested with VSG surgery
Apple203 replied to JR15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I started with a BMI of about 37, and I am in no danger of losing too much :-) My surgeon used a #40 bougie -- find out what your surgeon uses. A 32 will give you the most restrictions but also the most problems. -

Here's a great TED-talk on building habits -
I joined MyFitnessPal's boot camp, and the information is so good I thought I'd share it! Here's a link with more information: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10663909/5-1-tuesday-day-1-slbc

Fluffy, I started tracking my weekly weight to spot trends when you mentioned it -- great idea. Not sure if I have a trend yet: -
I have the new Versa and I like it very much, particularly the new sleep analysis and estimate of calories burned every day features. The clock faces are fun :-)

Its Friday, so it is weekly update time for those interested in sharing. I'm down 2.2# this week and my daily weight is fluctuating all over the place! I have let wine creep back here and there, and I'm going to cut that stuff back out and see if it helps stabilize my daily weight trends. I brought back one shake a day a few days ago to up my protein. And, I found myself without lunch one day at work and got a tuna sandwich at a nearby deli -- ate a quarter of it. This thrilled me! I know it sounds crazy, but ordering a sandwich felt so normal. And eating only a quarter of it was so easy. This new way of eating is getting more routine/natural every week! Week 7 --> 2.2 Week 6 --> 2.8 Week 5 --> 0.4 Week 4 --> 3.6 Week 3 --> 2.6 Week 2 --> 5.8 Week 1 --> 5.2

Almost quit on Day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet
Apple203 replied to Yo-yo girl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-op is tough, and so is the first month post-op. Then it starts to get easier. Hang in there, its worth it! -
When you have gray hair and use a semi-permanent color (my HD used Redken Shades EQ), the grey colors differently and becomes like a highlight -- this was part of my transition to natural color.
-
I say embrace the gray -- its popular these days. After decades of highlights/color ($$$$), I let it grow out with a little assistance from my hairdresser-- or should I say gray out, LOL?

How long from initial visit til surgery
Apple203 replied to hotmessmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It took me 4 months to finish the extensive list of pre-reqs, and then another 3 to finish the classes and get scheduled. So 7 months total.
